The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: He’s a Wise Ruler for Now

The situation became chaotic, Little Taotie looked towards Feng Qi and saw Feng Qi waving her fingers, her eyes turning into spinning red pupils.

It seemed that whether the guards refused to act or the Leader of the Dark Guards suddenly attacked the mortal emperor, it was all because Feng Qi used the Illusion Technique of the Fox Clan, amplifying certain small things in their hearts.

The guards’ sympathy for the weak was magnified, overshadowing loyalty, causing them to defy the Emperor’s orders, even willing to fight the Hidden Guard rather than engage against Feng Qi and Little Taotie.

The Leader of the Dark Guards’ defiance and ambition were magnified, leading him to strike against the New Emperor, even nurturing thoughts of sitting on the throne himself.

Little Taotie raised a thumb to Feng Qi: ”You’re really impressive!”

Feng Qi revealed her fox tail, the fiery red tail fluffy and soft, swaying slightly, showing some pride and arrogance, ”Of course! They’re just mortals, dealing with them is nothing at all!”

Little Taotie envied her confidence somewhat, because if it were him alone, he might not be able to handle this mortal emperor and countless mortal guards and Hidden Guards.

She strongly realized her own weakness.

She had witnessed human indifference, witnessed kin feasting on each other, witnessed the ambitions of emperors...

Little Taotie felt that in terms of state of mind, she had made some breakthroughs.

Cultivation is divided into cultivating the body and cultivating the heart.

In the Lion Tribe, most chose the path of cultivating the body, with few opting to cultivate the heart.

Being young, Little Taotie had never clearly chosen between cultivating the body or the heart.

And now, she wished to cultivate the heart more.

When the heart grows strong, more things can be changed, physical strength is essential too, but the emphasis is on cultivating the heart, with cultivating the body as a complement.

When the Leader of the Dark Guards severed the head of the New Emperor, the two warring factions halted.

Since the guards had defied the New Emperor’s orders, his death was good for them, as the New Emperor alive would surely kill them.

The Hidden Guards had always been led by the Leader of the Dark Guards, and now that the Leader killed the New Emperor, they harbored no thought of avenging him. Suddenly, someone among them began to kneel, and the Hidden Guards all bowed down, pledging allegiance.

The guards looked at each other; they had no choice, better to surrender than be slaughtered by the Hidden Guards.

So, the guards also knelt down, bowing profoundly.

Feng Qi patted the still-watching Little Taotie, smiling: ”We can claim our success and leave now.”

Little Taotie hesitated: ”Can you be sure he’ll be a good Emperor?”

Feng Qi shrugged: ”He is for now, the future is uncertain. Many mortal emperors initially ruled wisely for their country and people, but later, perhaps they grew old and muddled, and ended up committing foolish acts.”

”What about him...” Little Taotie furrowed her brows, feeling more worried.

”Don’t worry too much about the country and its people, at least for now he’ll be a good Emperor. If someday he becomes tyrannical or foolish, we’ll deal with him then!”

Upon hearing this, Little Taotie reluctantly nodded: ”I guess that’s all we can do.”

While everyone was still unaware of them, Feng Qi took Little Taotie and slipped away.

By the time the Leader of the Dark Guards recalled the two of them, the place where they had stood was devoid of even an ant.

Feng Qi took Little Taotie to play in fun places in the mortal world for several more days, hearing many things about the New Emperor’s ascension, changing the country’s name, distributing food to aid disaster victims, granting amnesty, and so forth.

Little Taotie sat in a pavilion by West Lake, eating lotus root starch, smiling: ”Seems like he’s a wise ruler now.”

Feng Qi nodded: ”We’ll see, if someday he turns cruel and foolish, I’ll make sure he suffers!”
