Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2756: Chapter 2751: The Thirteenth Day’s Tale (8)

It seems things are getting interesting.

True to her word, after Lady Trish gave the address, she opened the door and left without looking back, not uttering another word.

But even so, she didn’t forget to close the door behind her.

Watching her leave, Fu Qian felt gratified by the progress of events.

This spot has a more obscure view, but from one corner of the window, it’s still visible that the place Trish mentioned is in the opposite direction.

This aligns with what the two mentioned before: no one would come here for a walk.

Theoretically, to achieve the goal of escape, one should dash into a deserted corner from here.

Even execution seems not too difficult, as there isn’t even a formal wall, just a ring of thorny bushes to keep beasts away.

Meanwhile, Fu Qian developed a deep interest in the two places Trish mentioned.

Not to mention the different asylum beneath its calm surface.

As a customer, having a beautiful mental state is fine, but it sounds as if even the attending doctor is somewhat abstract, adding another layer of shadow to the place.

Escaping might not be that easy, just like Lady Trish mentioned earlier.

Even from this angle, no guards were visible at all.

Fu Qian isn’t someone who would bind himself from trying because of such suspicions.

But if things go awry, wouldn’t it be best to have a contingency plan?

Considering the warehouse this time is again typically set without providing data, leading to a blank in his mind about this place, Fu Qian is very interested in the doctor’s office as a possible target.

After all, Lady Trish mentioned that Servis would go anywhere but his own office.

Of course, aside from this, there are some alternative options—

Fu Qian fiddled with a set of keys and a handkerchief he pulled from his pocket, and walked over to the person tied up there.

From this person’s well-dressed appearance, it seemed they too enjoyed independent living space like Lady Trish.

Though now, the well-dressed one was himself.

He pried open the other’s mouth and stuffed the handkerchief inside, then placed the wide leather hood over them.

I have to say, the fit was surprisingly exact.

...

Gone so quickly.

The whole process was simple and efficient. Fu Qian clearly didn’t expect this replacement to remain hidden for long, just that when Trish’s male companion woke from his unconsciousness, he wouldn’t easily alert others.

But even so, by the time Fu Qian finished tidying up and left the room, Lady Trish was already nowhere to be seen.

Outside was an interior corridor, windowless and seemingly a dead end.

And the room he just left was in the farthest corner, no wonder it was used to hold a dangerous person like him.

Overall, compared to such an asylum, the building felt somewhat claustrophobic and dark.

There’s a subtle sense that it wasn’t originally designed for habitation and was temporarily adapted due to booming business.

At the same time, such a layout left no choice for an escape route; just head outward.

Fu Qian indeed did so, casually shutting the door, leaving Lady Trish’s male companion behind.

Killing him outright was indeed an option, but the decision not to was based on two considerations.

First, the place indeed looked remote, so the greatest risk of discovery came from the patrols, including the ones delivering food and drink.

Simply killing the bound one would have negligible effect on enhancing concealment.

Second, if one is a columnist that has fled, a death would change the nature of the entire event, compressing future operational space.

As previously mentioned, if leaving was as easy as pie and the task was completed in minutes, there would be no need to hide long.

But if the exit process was hindered, it meant maneuvering within the asylum, so retaining operational space was vital.

As simple as creating a tragedy, should the need arise to draw attention, then he could always come back to finish off the person.

Especially considering the slim chance that he could easily get away—

The soft rubber soles effectively muted his footsteps. As Fu Qian stealthily moved, observing the other rooms passed, a figure suddenly appeared in his peripheral vision.

...

This really felt like being caught with no escape.

Even though the lighting wasn’t great, and the figure seemed somewhat graceful, Fu Qian easily confirmed it wasn’t Lady Trish.

The person was shorter, dressed more simply, and with the tray in hand, it quickly dawned on him about the identity and purpose—a staff member of the asylum, delivering meals.

Furthermore, it was clear they received strict training, barely making any sound as they moved, making advance detection impossible.

Not even allowing the chance to duck into a room, the food delivery person looked straight at the end of the corridor without a glance sideways, and then froze completely.

So, should it be the second hiding technique? If not avoiding being seen, then eliminate all witnesses?

Fu Qian’s steps didn’t falter, continuing naturally forward, while pondering silently.

It truly was unbelievably coincidental; had it been slightly earlier or later, such a deadlock wouldn’t arise.

The timing was as if perfectly planned, waiting there the entire time.

Now quickly approaching, the person seemed ready to scream out or trigger an alarm—

”This place is temporarily closed off; you can’t go in.”

Yet, until Fu Qian drew near, meeting eyes, the petite staffer astonishingly didn’t flee.

Instead, she reminded him while keeping her eyes on his face.

The tone was as if she met a customer who accidentally strayed in.

...

Newcomers here, not recognizing faces yet?

Such a reaction surely made one think of the saying that fortune favors the brave.

Earlier genial demeanor, successfully bluffing the other.

But unfortunately, for Fu Qian, being optimistic was quite challenging.

Not recognizing Lady Trish’s companion’s face but failing to recognize the one fed daily to himself?

Either way, the situation was unusually abnormal.

”Don’t go near the wall...”

And his judgment was almost instantly confirmed; the staffer subtly nodded, stepping aside while advising in a whisper, without moving her lips much.

Oh?

Even as Fu Qian passed by unaffected, he realized something was slipped into his hand.
