Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2547: Chapter 2542: I Come from Moore

”There’s never been such a talkative shadow. I’m very fortunate to be the first to discover you with my keen perception.”

The hint was instantly seen through, and the Doorkeeper felt thoroughly exposed, continuing to express astonishment.

”You just got lucky...”

”You think I didn’t see that?”

”And then you just let him go to the back room? You know we can’t see anything in there.”

Unfortunately, others seemed reluctant to admit this point, and the scene that had just calmed down turned chaotic like a marketplace again.

Aside from not wanting to concede on perception, it sounded like some were very dissatisfied with the Doorkeeper’s guidance.

”I already said he feels different; if he continues to wander in other places, the situation could get out of control. We have no choice but to proceed with the core test.”

And the Doorkeeper was clearly very unhappy with such accusations, almost shouting back.

So is it even an experimental observation?

Although the dialogue was somewhat abrupt, for Fu Qian, as a theoretical peer, some key words were easily grasped.

Core test?

From the beginning, he was wondering about the Doorkeeper’s purpose for doing all this?

Now it seems there might be an answer.

In this Mistaken Space-Time here, the researchers are taking a different approach than before. They are not eliminating shadows, but observing them.

They treat it as a special phenomenon, making contact, observing, testing its nature, and even preparing an entire plan for this.

And the core of this plan is in the back room.

...

Indeed, it increasingly feels like forbidden research.

The Stargazers are not stargazing; they have begun observing people.

The truth is quickly approaching, and at that moment, the entire research institute feels more eerie.

Fu Qian seems able to imagine the scene behind the tightly closed doors, a group of people holding their breath, watching and listening.

And from everyone’s conversation, it is clear that even though the ”shadow” itself is invisible to them, it is still not difficult to observe through the points and lines scattered throughout the institution.

Just like the Doorkeeper at the beginning.

It’s no surprise. I’d wondered before if sounds could be conveyed, why shouldn’t other things?

In any case, the current situation seems quite clear.

First, thirty years east, thirty years west, having just pretended to be the Scavenger, this time appearing as a shadow.

Then the Doorkeeper discovered him first, after some exchanges, and directly guided him to the core part of the test plan, the back room.

Others might have opinions, but to not disturb the interaction, they could only begrudgingly accept it.

It must be said that the Doorkeeper’s concern was actually reasonable. If one continued to wander without presenting the main course, one might turbocharge themselves.

As for the purpose of being sent to the back room, despite its invisibility—

”Do you want to observe the changes in the person inside after contact with the shadow? Aren’t you afraid I’ll beat them to death?”

Locking variables is something Fu Qian can do in his sleep, casually confirming it.

Indeed, the mysterious spots in the back room are many, such as what seems to involve the highest levels of power, the fall point.

But even if the researchers hope to use the shadow to find answers, to see if it automatically converges at a special point, they should at least be watching from behind.

Otherwise, if it disappears in a flash, wouldn’t their efforts be wasted?

Yet, the whole group remained holed up in the lab, making it feel more like feeding.

Feeding a secluded researcher.

”Based on previous experience, we are not worried about such a risk... However, you are indeed different from them; most of them lack much linguistic ability.”

Sure enough, the Doorkeeper’s subsequent response not only confirmed this point but even admitted it wasn’t the first time.

It sounded like most shadows were not very intelligent, so there was no worry they could do anything to the ”Thinker.”

”Since we’re speaking openly, may I be curious? From your perspective, where do you come from? From our observations, shadows seem to be produced out of thin air.”

Before Fu Qian could say anything, someone couldn’t resist interjecting, sounding like they’d held it back for a long time.

”Good question.”

Honestly, considering everyone’s stance, the situation shouldn’t be this harmonious.

But at that moment, Fu Qian not only acknowledged the good question but even responded quite simply.

”I come from Moore.”

Hmm...

Even though he spoke the truth, the air suddenly plunged into silence.

”Is there a problem?”

Fu Qian maliciously pursued the question.

”...You don’t seem honest. Are you saying you’re really here to clean up?”

The questioner couldn’t hold back, seemingly unable to accept this answer.

”I’m not. I’m too lazy to bother with that kind of thing.”

This time Fu Qian shook his head.

”Otherwise, wouldn’t you be in danger?”

...

It’s terrifying upon consideration.

The already tense atmosphere grew a bit colder due to the reasonFu Qian provided.

Everyone here is cultured; why is ”danger” something they quickly grasped?

”Nonsense, are you trying to say that we are the shadows?”

The questioner immediately shouted in anger.

”Hehe... Why not?

”Just like I didn’t notice earlier, isn’t this something you can’t confirm yourself?”

This time it was Fu Qian’s turn to laugh, including an unpleasant expression.

But his reasoning touched on a fact the group had been proud of, making denial frustratingly difficult.

”Interesting theory.”

The Doorkeeper remained more composed, not only continuing the topic but even giving it praise.

”Either you don’t realize it yourself, or we can’t detect it; in solitary situations, this is indeed a difficult problem to prove... But why do you think we haven’t prepared for this?”

Yet it obviously followed a build-up and transition route, then abruptly changed tone.

Oh?

At the same time, Fu Qian noticed more lights turning on at one side, one after another...

All in the same direction, and in the blink of an eye, a path illuminated in darkness appeared, leading toward an unknown place.

...

”What is this place?”

The visual language was so clear that Fu Qian didn’t even need a reminder to follow all the way.

And the final destination appeared to be a place with an excellent view.

Though not the highest point of the building, there was almost no obstruction on either side, completely an extension into the empty air.

Additionally, the crucial thing was the direction...

Fu Qian noted that if he remembered correctly, across the sea should be Moore.

And more importantly, a familiar pattern—

In the middle of the platform, constructed with metal points and lines, was an angular eye.

”The place illuminated by the Lighthouse.”

At this moment, the Doorkeeper also answered his question.
