Chapter 2506: Chapter 2501: Dereliction of Duty

The Demigod was furious, and the consequences were severe.

The storm howled, the killing intent piercing to the bone.

Though cloaked entirely in shadow with a face obscured, it did nothing to prevent Fu Qian from recognizing the figure and feeling the emotions bursting forth within.

Good news, the main goal of this trip was achieved—Lady Selana indeed came here.

Bad news, it seems her goal was achieved as well.

The clever, deceitful rat who led her into the current peril has been firmly targeted.

Of course, from this position, Fu Qian couldn’t directly see traces of flames in the shadow.

But honestly, it’s hard to judge Selana’s status based on this; it’s more likely that the mosaic is too thick.

”Alright.”

But it doesn’t matter, as a captive, at least one can provide a good attitude.

Facing Selana’s warning, Fu Qian nodded and even managed to keep a smile, with a flawless demeanor.

”Where is Sorondir?”

Unfortunately, the feedback received wasn’t very friendly. Selana’s tone was neither pleased nor resentful, directly ignoring the goodwill and addressing a critical issue.

But frankly, it was understandable since this was indeed his responsibility in the earlier conspiracy.

”Good question, actually I’ve been looking for him too.”

With a light sigh, Fu Qian expressed regret, indicating temporarily no clue of his whereabouts.

”I thought you’d say he was on the ship, letting me go up and take a look.”

However, the contrast appeared, as for the rather irresponsible statement, Selana not only responded but meticulously provided a reference answer.

”Unfortunately, I think he shouldn’t be on the ship.”

Encouraged, Fu Qian felt relieved for a moment and continued honestly.

...

Sorondir is most likely not there after all, whether he successfully found his way here is questionable. Just one ship floating on the sea doesn’t mean much.

And even if he did manage to find this place, it’s nearly impossible that he would still remain there.

Not that he understood Sorondir’s ascension plans and knew what he intended to do, but simply through logical deduction—if Sorondir were still there, how could he escape Selana’s carpet search?

Indeed, although appearing from behind, Fu Qian didn’t believe this was Selana’s first time reaching here.

Don’t forget the disappearance time of this Half-god of the Blood Clan.

After arriving at Moore, there have been two storms, during the latter one, he entered the Realm of the Dead, but even before the latter storm began, the Greedy Worms reacted to Selana’s disappearance.

Clearly, this Half-god of the Blood Clan most likely slipped away during the latter part of the first storm, right after agreeing upon a cooperation plan with him.

Even according to the elder’s saying, during storm intervals, this place enters a frozen non-existent state, yet Selana had much more free activity time here than himself.

Then how could she have arrived at the dock later than him?

The probability is quite low.

The greatest likelihood is that she already came and searched that ship.

If he really suggested her to check the ship, she might strike immediately.

As for why he thought it possible to find someone here despite realizing the time gap long before?

It’s simple—just because the ship is empty once doesn’t mean it’s empty every time. If Selana can analyze this place’s attributes even slightly, she should be able to grasp some patterns.

Without other clues, checking back periodically is quite understandable.

If not for being on fire, Fu Qian would even suspect she might stay here for a while.

All in all, the ship has most likely been boarded by this Demigod long ago, possibly more than once, and Sorondir was clearly not discovered.

...

”I agree with your idea, but did you forget something... Regardless of whether Sorondir is there, someone should be up there?”

Facing Fu Qian’s ”honesty,” Selana paused somewhat.

When she spoke again, she finally stopped beating around the bush, directly pointing out a certain ally’s negligence.

Her tone was deeper towards the end, looking ready to act at any moment.

”That’s because I disembarked halfway, didn’t stay long up there.”

Thankfully, with the experience from previous exchanges, Fu Qian knew well the principle that honesty gets you everywhere, directly admitting his absentee behavior.

”Then I specifically went to your residence, but you weren’t there; instead, I instantly fell into this place—was it a pathway you left intentionally?”

Yet, he didn’t accept the accusation of neglect, insisting he had important matters to share, asking if it was the portal left by his ally.

”Really? Are you so certain it was the place where we talked?”

Selana’s tone had a hint of sarcasm, not just for this seemingly insincere operation, but also skepticism about whether he found the right place.

”It should be correct; I even saw bats.”

It’s unfortunate that anyone daring to confront Professor Fu face-to-face with mockery will be educated harshly by reality.

Fu Qian’s brow furrowed, mentioning a small detail.

”Some were even on fire.”

...

A hit straight to the soul.

Clearly, the storm hadn’t intensified, but the suffocation index in the air skyrocketed at that moment.

Under the encompassing shadow, Selana didn’t make a sound, instead, it seemed as if bats were genuinely fluttering and even shrieking around her.

The previous evaluation of this Half-god of the Blood Clan being full of grandeur was not spoken lightly.

Although the confrontation seemed to return to the initial encounter, the shadows covering the opponent’s body, by contrast, appeared more opulent.

The shadow had swelled slightly, even in its darkness, there was a sense of light flowing—subtly luxurious.

”Oh... is it like this?”

Unfortunately, not much time was left for Fu Qian to admire. As Selana spoke again, her tone was already spine-chilling.

Meanwhile, the shadow commenced a silent struggle, truly tearing shapes with wings from within.

More importantly, despite being mere phantasms, the traces of flames encircling them were remarkably distinct.

Surely indeed, a grand master.

Just this point explained a lot already; at that moment, the many conjectures before could be considered as immediately receiving strong support.

”Yes.”

Lady Selana indeed fell for it, Fu Qian couldn’t help but sigh, nodding his head.

Though bats, each baring teeth and claws, aimed directly at him, their posture was quite unfriendly as if ready for a bite.

”Are you sure, Laurie?”

The Half-god of the Blood Clan repeated, letting him confirm the answer.

”Of course I’m sure—but I’m not Laurie.”

In response, Fu Qian chuckled, revealing another bombshell.
