Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2195: Chapter 2190: Bloodstained Nail

It really is a deer, but not quite a deer.

Although it sounds awkward, Fu Qian felt it was the most accurate description of the current situation.

The scene behind the door matched perfectly with the sounds heard from outside earlier.

In a strangely shaped building, there indeed lay a coiled-up deer.

As Fu Qian opened the door, it even opened its eyes to look over.

Here the measure word is used appropriately, it really is ”a strip”.

Up front is a large head, and especially larger than the head itself, a classically shaped set of antlers.

And further down, there’s a long, elegant neck, strong and robust forelegs...

Strong and robust forelegs...

Strong and robust forelegs...

Strong and robust to the point you can’t tell forelegs from hind legs...

Indeed, the deer’s body is disproportionate to the head, clearly more than ten deer head to tail would make such a scale, with an exaggerated number of hooves.

So much so that even in this spacious area, the whole body is still coiled up in a crescent, embracing the head in the center.

And it’s not just the body embracing the head, stirred by the disturbance, the front half of the deer’s body is already lifted, as if standing guard.

Revealing several faces embedded in different directions within the body, eventually forming a special array as it guards the deer head on top.

Why does everyone like this design now?

Looking at this bustling scene, Fu Qian also sighed.

And why ”all”?

Just recently, he had encountered a similar Destiny Snake.

The key is that both of them refuse to just be snakes, adding oddities.

However, this one has a core characteristic – whether the deer head, legs, or body, are evidently handcrafted, not flesh and blood.

...

This one is even more heavyweight, far more extreme than the previous two.

Fu Qian tends to consider the object in front of him as part of the realm of ascendant dolls as well.

But whether Ailuo or Hand Watcher, they were at least somewhat body augmentation, whilst this one seems to have completely abandoned fragile flesh and blood.

”Is the ’Car’ referred to on its back?”

Fu Qian didn’t focus overly on the moral and ethical aspects, rather, he discussed the origin of the name.

As for the mentioned deer back is quite simple, a segment of the elongated body seemed intriguingly skeletal.

Clearly thicker, and within it, a box is embedded.

A sizable one with extremely square lines.

Yet despite the obviously unnatural design, it stands as the only piece of flesh and blood creation within sight.

”Yes, opening it will reveal something different.”

As Fu Qian savored the contrast, the Witch affirmed his statement.

It could even be opened?

Fu Qian clicked his tongue in praise.

Just now, he was wondering how to communicate, considering the other party seemed not too bright.

If the transformation the Witch seeks is reflected by the contents revealed upon opening the box, then it seems much simpler and clearer.

As for how to open the box, Fu Qian thought he needn’t worry – Ding!

Sure enough, as soon as the words fell, the Witch flicked something out of her hand.

Though it sounded crisp, Fu Qian saw clearly, that it wasn’t a coin or such, rather, it resembled a bloodied fingernail.

Of course not the Witch’s nail, the Pontiff and himself were different, her fingers were all intact.

And that nail was indeed sharp, an unhuman design.

Appearing to manifest from thin air, but Fu Qian figured the Pontiff had prepared it beforehand.

After all, it appeared indeed quite popular.

After a brief call, the not-so-friendly ”Deer Car”, which had dared offend the Pontiff, suddenly became excited.

The next moment, its elongated body resumed a reptilian posture, rushing forward, and swallowed it whole.

...

It really seemed to like it.

Though he didn’t join in tasting, Fu Qian seemed to feel the satisfaction from the ”Deer Car”.

With the bloodied nail ingested, the subsequent exhilaration was comparable to rediscovering life’s meaning.

Clearly non-biological in material, yet at that moment, it expressed a living tremor hard to convey, making one worry it might rush forward the next moment — Bang!

Indeed, it wasn’t mere imagination, at the very first moment post-digestion, the Deer Car’s action was akin to charging, surprisingly dashing towards the Witch — and returned at an even greater acceleration.

Before that entourage of dagger-like sharp antlers came within an arm’s reach of the Witch, the deer head was firmly smacked aside.

Between scattered wood chips, emitted was a sound unlike flesh and blood creations.

”Does it always do this?”

Fu Qian tossed the bisected wooden horse aside, casually confirming with the Witch.

Indeed, seeing such a petty creature dare offend the Pontiff, as a Knight, he immediately improvised, delivering some Punishment.

Must admit, the quality of the wooden horse was decent, offering a nice hand feel.

”Always like this.”

The Witch’s tone was equally certain, standing still all along, continuing to observe the recovering Deer Car.

After receiving a reprieve, it appeared finally somewhat clearer-headed, though staggering, able to slightly resist the overwhelming hunger.

Clack!

And amid another peculiar shake, the back box abruptly opened.

...

Putting coins in to open the box, makes sense.

A marvelous scene, Fu Qian watched with relish.

Though the exchange process was somewhat convoluted, such development had a familiar sense of immediacy.

Even appearing to open the box with genuine sincerity.

Not only did the top lid open, the entire box emerged from the body, and unfolded like a flower.

And indeed, something rolled out from inside.

It’s—a rag doll?

Fu Qian easily recognized it was precisely an item fitting well with the style of the place.

Appearing without any special, non-Transcendent nature.

Ding—

The Witch looked unperturbed, the next moment already flicked out another nail.

”Dealing with those attempting to meddle here, gains some special feedback.”

More than that, it helped Fu Qian clear his doubts.

Speaking, she opened her hand, revealing three more similar nails in her grasp.

”During the time I’ve stayed here, I tried condensing them, and discovered this thing takes interest, even offering rewards.

”There are many types of rewards, a total of eight, in a fixed order, most are non-Transcendent natured items, of course, some are very special.”

The Witch’s voice barely fell, when an unusual sound caught attention again.

This time, the Deer Car was obviously much calmer, unfolding again directly without need for nudging.

”Hehehe...”

This time the reward was indeed a bit different, the content not only didn’t fall out but even emitted a clear string of laughter.
