Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2164: Chapter 2159: Confinement (33)

Why are you going?

Such a simple question, yet it seemed to cause quite a stir.

Definitely not a regular, there must be a special reason for going to drink.

Looking at Tia, who was momentarily at a loss for words, Fu Qian thought to himself and did not rush her.

The atmosphere was right; let’s see what surprises this person can bring.

Even the surroundings are particularly conducive to contemplating life.

”Yesterday I suddenly felt like... I didn’t want to be alone.”

Reassuring, the waiting soon paid off, as Tia recalled, her gaze already slightly dazed.

”Especially at night?”

Just by listening to these two sentences, it could almost be described as ambiguous, but Fu Qian knew well that this person was definitely not troubled by emotions.

”Yes, in this place, I’ve already exhausted where people might be... and when people leave one by one, I feel really bad.”

Indeed, it wasn’t the alcohol itself, but the presence of people that Tia soon admitted as the reason for choosing to go to the bar.

”In what way is it bad?”

The reason why this person woke up at my place in the morning was logical now, but there was still a missing core motivation.

”Darkness... any place where even the slightest bit of light can’t reach makes me feel... extremely terrified.”

With a strong sense of immersion, Tia’s breathing almost carried a trembling flavor, but after taking a deep breath, she finally couldn’t help but speak out.

”What kind of horror? Something hidden inside, or is it moving on its own, ready to crawl over and swallow you?”

Fu Qian showed no sympathy, pressing for details persistently.

”Neither... it’s not something hidden inside, but shadows form something...”

And having endured the test, Tia indeed provided the specifics.

”Any small patch of black in my field of vision, my brain uncontrollably simulates it as part of a face... I don’t even know what it is, and it’s even more pronounced after drinking alcohol, so I dare not drink.”

Reasonable, otherwise, she would just get herself drunk; what’s the need to endure those circumstances otherwise?

Imagining the scene in Tia’s eyes, despite the oddity, Fu Qian still confirmed the statement.

Thus, there is a reasonable explanation as to why she ended up following me; on one hand, I left late, by then her fear should have accumulated to a certain extent.

On another hand, if Huck was indeed her uncle, then Tia might actually be more familiar with me than others.

Even as a police officer, this identity might bring extra safety.

As for the core motivation mentioned earlier, namely the ”face of shadows” that frightens her?

What else could it be—

Fu Qian realized, looking around and noticing the returning person still hadn’t come back, and sighed inwardly.

This person probably experienced something extraordinary in the Inner World during work yesterday.

...

”Do you think I have a problem in my head?”

The person showed no signs of mockery as she expected, making Tia somewhat uncomfortable.

To the extent that she stared at Fu Qian’s face, the next moment, she even learned to mock herself.

Of course, immersed in memories, her sensitivity to the surroundings was slightly lower, as if not realizing the passage of time.

”Could it just be that your Talent has awakened? I suggest taking time to exchange some art with Rachel, or even booking a room in the prison.”

Upon seeing such a cooperative player facing trouble, Fu Qian not only offered a bowl of spiritual chicken soup but also a rather strange tasting one.

”... Why isn’t the person back yet? Should we leave first?”

Though momentarily speechless, Tia quickly reacted, returning to reality.

”Is it possible that someone got bored alone, heard us coming in, and hid in the cabinet to play hide and seek with us?”

Fu Qian remained unhurried, casually glancing around.

”Who would play hide and seek in such a place—”

Judging from the topic just discussed, Tia was clearly somewhat low in fear immunity at this moment.

”How did you know I was hiding here?”

Yet her sigh hadn’t ended before it was interrupted.

A door of a double-tiered metal cabinet behind Fu Qian was pushed open from inside, as a figure struggled to come out.

...

Ah—

At that moment, the fear accumulated by Tia seemed to perfect an explosion.

Realizing what happened, she almost jumped up immediately, letting out a scream.

Someone had actually been hiding in the cabinet silently all along, in such a place?

Anyone would feel their scalp tingle at the thought, let alone that they were just discussing shadows, fitting the scene too well.

The only fortunate thing was that the person came out from the other side, had it been from behind her—though the person she faced remained remarkably calm.

”Did you see me?”

While Tia couldn’t help but empathize with Fu Qian’s situation, the person who crawled out of the cabinet showed no interest in her, their gaze locked solely on Fu Qian.

”Didn’t see.”

Only now did Fu Qian turn around, evaluating the suddenly appearing new character—it seemed like solving two cases at once?

That’s right, those types of cabinets are only spacious for hiding when the person is small in build as well.

An absolutely not yet adult female.

Not particularly striking in appearance, and her expression was rather unlikable.

Eyes quite large, albeit intimidating at the moment, merely enhancing pressure.

Her body was slender, and her clothes even scantier; fortunately, the ”chill” in this place was more psychological.

”Nonsense, then why did you suddenly say that?”

Facing Fu Qian’s scrutiny, the girl showed no sign of backing down, questioning sharply.

”I said ’Is it possible,’ was discussing with someone, then you interrupted.”

Fu Qian shook his head, directly countering the girl.

Actually, that’s true.

Assuming these cabinets could hide people is one thing, it doesn’t mean actual clues were discovered.

This girl undoubtedly had a fierce temperament, closing the cabinet door tightly.

Unless you directly open to look, what special signs could appear from outside?

Thus, the nature of the previous sentence indeed belonged to a shot in the dark.

Unfortunately, the girl may have both intelligence and execution capabilities, yet she had the rashness typical of youth, revealing herself in a single sentence.

”Who are you, and why are you here?”

At this point, Tia was also back to her senses, couldn’t help but take up the subject to ask.

”... I’m looking for someone, a boy.”

This time, she finally got a slight response, as the girl thought briefly and replied coldly with a glance.

Indeed, part of the missing duo.
