Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2162: Chapter 2157: Confinement (31)

The person in charge of reception even came back.

Though not making a fuss of it, just standing there watching from afar.

From that complex expression, it seemed like some sort of reminder had already been given to Tia.

Yet, the person in question still came straight over, leaving her somewhat relieved but also a bit skeptical about life.

As for why Tia came—

”Are you out of your mind? Do you want everyone to know about last night’s event?”

Faced with Fu Qian’s demand, Tia refused to comply, continuing to lower her voice and growl.

The reason was obvious, just like her reaction in the morning when she saw Huck, she valued her personal image, and yesterday’s event was really hard to talk about.

So even after hearing about the outrageous firepower display, it still couldn’t overshadow Tina’s fear of the past being brought up, causing her to rush over in a reactive manner, ready to accuse.

Although Fu Qian really wanted to remind her, it might be better to greet some acquaintances first.

”Rachel?”

Apparently, there’s no need for that now. Before Fu Qian could respond to the continuous questioning, Tia seemed to finally notice another person keeping some distance, looking over with a stunned expression.

It seems Rachel wasn’t bluffing; she actually had acquaintances in the hospital.

The reactions on both sides explained everything; they were obviously surprised to see each other here.

Tia, in particular, was completely clueless, unable to associate Rachel with this new, unfriendly cop.

And Rachel seemed more surprised by what she overheard.

As the saying goes, listeners sometimes catch onto things, although Tia tried her best to control the volume, Rachel still clearly heard some things due to her full attention.

”Last night?”

For a moment, it seemed like even her own predicament was forgotten, and she asked instinctively.

”Let’s go outside.”

No need for Fu Qian to say anything further; Tia instantly recalled the earlier suggestion and quickly moved outside.

...

”How did you two come together?”

About the topic of ”last night,” it was naturally not something to be discussed openly.

Dragging them to a secluded corner almost the whole way, Tia seemed to have thought of a plan, immediately expressing strong disbelief at Rachel accompanying Fu Qian.

”Mr. An Ke asked me to drive him here because his car is quite conspicuous.”

Rachel seemed calm at this moment, responding without panic, stating that she was merely obliged.

But this reason...

Right next to them was the parking place, and someone’s pink themes indeed stood out. Tia couldn’t help casting several glances.

”Don’t ask me, I don’t know either.”

Rachel mentioned this as if she wasn’t trying to convince anyone, primarily to state her stance.

Facing Tia’s perplexity, she could only chuckle helplessly for the moment.

”So what are you here for exactly? Even that car is too conspicuous?”

Seeing no flaws on Rachel’s face, Tia, getting increasingly confused, once more focused her firepower on Fu Qian.

”I’m here to ask for your help.”

Observing their interaction the whole time, Fu Qian meant it genuinely and continued straightforwardly.

Help?

It was evident even Rachel was startled this time, faintly aware that things were more complicated than they seemed.

”Where is the place where the hospital stores bodies?”

Without waiting for further questioning, Fu Qian waved towards the surroundings.

”Why do you want to go there?”

Not targeting herself, Tia was somewhat relieved, yet startled by the location Fu Qian was interested in.

”I know it’s not your area of responsibility, but about half an hour ago, I found a body that should have been in your hospital.”

Fu Qian continued candidly, eyes locked on a place.

Frankly speaking, given the overall style of this place, everywhere in the hospital felt like they stored bodies, but the building in his view still seemed most likely.

”Something like that... are you sure you didn’t mistake it?”

Tia seemed incredulous at this point.

”I’m here to confirm.”

Fu Qian only nodded.

”Ah—so it’s over at the prison?”

While Tia seemed a bit scatterbrained, Rachel, on the other hand, perceived something, suddenly exclaiming as certain realization struck her.

It wasn’t that hard, considering Fu Qian mentioned the half-hour mark.

She just had to recall that this new cop was at the Art Prison at that time.

”Rest assured, it’s not in a visible place.”

To this, Fu Qian admitted directly, even emphasizing the positive side.

...

After all, it’s just a body, not something fear-inducing for adults.

Judging by Rachel’s expression, it was more of an awkward feeling, like having a house built over a grave; that sentiment was vividly expressed.

In light of this, Fu Qian casually added another line, effectively whitening her face even further.

”I understand what you mean, but even if I wanted to help, the most I could do is contact the person in charge of this part. If there truly is such an incident, he surely wouldn’t want others to know.”

At this moment, Tia seemed to have finally organized her thoughts, focusing on the matter at hand, and offered a somewhat tactful suggestion.

”What else? Sneak me in and check each one for signs of theft?”

Strangely, Fu Qian readily accepted, even appearing somewhat surprised.

”...Then follow me, it’s that way.”

Momentarily at a loss for words, but Tia looked eager to do something, to avoid the topic from accidentally slipping back.

Soon she signaled to move, indicating the direction Fu Qian was looking.

As expected, great minds think alike; he thought the feng shui over there seemed nice.

Quite satisfied with his insight, Fu Qian immediately followed.

”Um...”

Yet someone seemed to change their mind.

”That place is really a bit frightening to me... can I stay here?”

Watching Fu Qian and the others swiftly reach a consensus, Rachel seemed to briefly escape from her ”ghost under the bed” mentality.

And she didn’t hide the unease regarding their destination on her face.

Her request didn’t seem unreasonable, she wasn’t leaving, just not following to see the bodies, choosing to stay on standby as a driver.

Frightening?

To this, Fu Qian’s response was a meaningful look until Rachel seemed lost for a reaction.

”Sure, thank you.”

Yet in the next moment, Fu Qian actually nodded in agreement, not insisting on dragging along this world’s switch detector.

It makes sense, one generation replaces another, after all.

After some encouragement, Fu Qian motioned for Tia to proceed amidst her suspicion, silently adding a commentary in his heart.

What’s that saying again, those who are tacitly aware have no peers?

Being too professional isn’t necessarily a good thing either.
