Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 1090, The Tie Family Surrenders!

Translator: Silavin

“ARGH!!!!”

The Tie Family Ancestor released a furious roar, then drove a fist upward.

The roaring force of that punch, erupting from beneath the flames already enveloping him, sent a torrent of violent wind surging upward and scattering the fire in reverse, preventing too much of it from clinging to his body.

Ye Wuxian once more entered her Elemental Form, slipping away from the blow.

Then, riding the turbulent winds stirred by the punch, her body was swept upward before recongealing from all directions simultaneously, encircling the Tie Family Ancestor in a complete ring of fire.

The flames scorched and seared, drawing a continuous stream of howling cries from the Tie Family Ancestor. These were sounds so raw and primal that it was impossible to tell whether they were screams of pain or roars of rage.

The Tie Family Ancestor gripped his spear and fought back with savage abandonment. At times, he would sweep it in great arcs, at times battering with fist and foot. He directed his furious assaults at the fire that swirled ceaselessly around him.

His attacks were incomparably fierce and domineering. Every blow raised a tempest of force. The surrounding buildings within the Tie Family base had already been reduced to rubble by those gales, which was a sight that pained Ye Wuxian to behold.

Against the Tie Family Ancestor in his current state, Ye Wuxian truly had very few elegant solutions. All she could do was be patient. She just had to survive this unhurried game of attrition, wearing him down gradually.

She dissolved her body into flame repeatedly, only recongealing back into her Physical Form during the brief windows after the Tie Family Ancestor had committed to a strike and had not yet recovered to retaliate, then launching her own attacks during that opening.

Her blows landed on the Tie Family Ancestor’s body, but they struggled to produce any meaningful result.

In his current state, the Tie Family Ancestor not only could dish out Attacks that were grotesquely strong, a single punch or thrust of his spear carried enough force to potentially one-shot even a Sixth Profession Player if they were unfortunate enough to be directly caught by it. His Defence was also staggering.

With Ye Wuxian’s attacks, even with the Fire Emblems all active, she still could not breach his Defences. The best she could manage was to leave a black, charred burn mark on him from Refined Undefiled.

That was not even close to inflicting any Fatal Damage. In fact, it barely counted as breaching his Defence.

There was simply nothing to be done about it. Though Ye Wuxian wielded Ancient God Power, her Base Attributes and Level remained too low. She was not like Qin Qiu and the others, whose Attributes had been dramatically amplified through external means, like the Asura King.

The potency of Ye Wuxian’s flames depended entirely upon her own Base Attributes. This meant that although her fire was like a parasite burrowed into bone, once ignited upon the Tie Family Ancestor, impossible to extinguish, the rate of the Burn Damage it inflicted was, frankly, somewhat underwhelming.

Ye Wuxian was not troubled by this though. As she engaged the Tie Family Ancestor, she demonstrated a level of combat awareness and combat experience that was hard to come by for someone her age. Every time, she entered her Elemental Form with flawless precision to slip past his strikes, then delivered her own attacks during those moments when her opponent could neither resist nor counter-attack.

One could say, plainly: were she and the Tie Family Ancestor equal in Level and Attributes, she would easily obliterate him.

And so, Ye Wuxian danced as though upon the edge of a blade. She would turn into flame again and again, evading every assault the Tie Family Ancestor launched, while steadily inflicting Damage upon him.

No matter what he tried, the Tie Family Ancestor could never lay a hand on Ye Wuxian. The flames clinging to his body accumulated more and more with each passing moment, until he was soon wrapped from head to toe in a roaring conflagration.

Before long, the ferocity of the Tie Family Ancestor’s assault began to diminish. The openings in his guard multiplied. Ye Wuxian naturally perceived this shift, and dealing with him became progressively more easy. It almost became casual in effort.

The Tie Family members, battling the Asura King on one side while watching their Ancestor progressively falter on the other, fell into deeper despair with every passing second.

The Snake Dragon Boss was dead. And now, if even the Tie Family Ancestor was to fall in battle, then the Tie Family truly had not a single shred of hope remaining.

But what could be done? What other option was there?

The enemies that had arrived at their base today were simply too powerful. Never mind Ye Wuxian, who was holding the Tie Family Ancestor at bay, even the golden giant, and the young woman behind it ceaselessly unleashing Support Skills, were opponents the Tie Family could not overcome.

Within the base, every manner Array and Engineered Item had been deployed. Yet, every one of them had been stopped cold by the Asura King.

The Asura King’s defensive strength was extraordinary beyond measure. Even subjected to repeated assaults from Arrays, whose power was comparable to Sixth Profession Skills, it held firm and refused to yield.

Even when sections of its body were dented by the impact, they healed at a visible pace, fully recovered within moments.

It was safe to say that, setting aside the Tie Family’s Sixth Profession Players and their most costly Arrays and Engineered Items, the attacks of every other combatant present were things the Asura King could simply ignore.

Faced with an existence this terrifying, who in the world could stand against it?

After all, Ye Wuxian and her companions had each received their Ancient God Power. Counted carefully, what had descended upon the Tie Family today amounted to five Ancient Gods. They had arrived together to deal with a single Family.

These were five Ancient Gods who had not yet manifested their full power. But against a single Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family, it was still more than enough. In fact, it was overkill.

Against the offensive might of Ye Wuxian and her companions, the Tie Family had no means of retaliation. They could only watch as the Asura King cut their members down one after another.

Soon enough, the Tie Family Ancestor approached the absolute limit of his endurance. Flames raged over his entire body, consuming him without rest. And with the effect of Demonized fading at a precipitous rate, his condition plummeted rapidly. His body seemed to deflate like a balloon losing air, shrinking in on itself.

The flames that had previously been unable to breach his Defences finally, at long last, began to unleash their true power, ravaging him without mercy, igniting his skin and flesh in an unrelenting blaze.

With a final, broken cry, the Tie Family Ancestor’s body crashed heavily to the ground. Then it began to contract and shrink, until at last it was reduced to a blackened coal within a dying nest of embers. All life extinguished entirely.

“Ancestor!”

“ANCESTOR!”

Anguished cries of grief and despair rang out from Tie Family member after Tie Family member, each voice saturated with hopelessness.

The Tie Family Ancestor had fallen in battle. And yet, not a single one of their enemies had been lost.

The Tie Family… was finished.

Within the Tie Family base, their accumulated items and Arrays had been considerable. But by now, more than half of them had been consumed. The majority of those remaining were locked in their Cooldown periods, unable to be activated again.

At this point, the five women were free to rampage through the Tie Family base unchecked. They would slaughter everyone inside without any more push back, and it was merely a matter of time before everyone else was killed.

This battle was already decided. The Tie Family had lost beyond all question.

A pall of despair hung over every Soul who bore the surname ‘Tie’. Those who had still carried the Will to fight moments ago now found that desire hollowed out. There was not a single ember of it that remained.

Just as every last member of the Tie Family sank into the depths of that hopelessness, a voice suddenly rang out across the entirety of the Tie Family base.

“Everyone, stand down!”

“Miss Ye, we of the Tie Family surrender. We implore you to not kill further!” All eyes turned toward the source of the voice, and they found it was Tie Fusheng, who had just ascended to the air above.

To the members of the Tie Family, this Patriarch needed no introduction.

With Tie Fusheng declaring that the Tie Family had surrendered, the remaining members lost whatever vestige of Will they had to continue fighting.
