Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 1075, Sparing Their Lives

Within the prison of flames, there was nothing but searing heat and utter despair.

Ye Wuxian showed not a shred of mercy to those who had sought to end her life. Manifested as an endless inferno, she swept down upon the Players one after another, letting them be swallowed and consumed by fire.

The Players had initially intended to make one final stand. After all, Ye Wuxian’s killing intent was resolute. If they did not kill her, they would be the ones to die.

Yet once the fighting truly began, they came to understand just how overwhelmingly beyond them Ye Wuxian’s power truly was.

After transforming into her Elemental Form, Ye Wuxian was in a state of Invulnerability. Any Skill that landed upon her flames would simply be incinerated without exception, leaving nothing behind.

And as for Ye Wuxian’s own Skills, their Damage Output was not exceptional to begin with. However, once she called upon her Ancient God Power, her flames became capable of incinerating absolutely everything, and they would never be extinguished!

This meant that anyone caught in her flames could only watch helplessly as their Health Pool drained away, bit by bit, with no recourse.

With enemies unable to touch her, while she freely attacked them without restraint, the battle was naturally one-sided.

Before long, within this prison of flames, the Players were killed off in great numbers, and barely one in ten remained.

The outcome of the battle was no longer in any doubt.

It was at this moment that a Golden Giant Dragon appeared from seemingly nowhere, crashing into the prison of flames.

Under its immense force, even the prison of flames was broken open, and a gap had been torn through it.

However, the Golden Giant Dragon was then engulfed by the fire, and it being burned alive was only a matter of time.

After being wrapped and scorched by the flames, the Golden Giant Dragon vanished shortly thereafter. It had not been killed. It had just disappeared of its own accord.

This was, of course, one of Lu Fan’s Projections. He had used it to break open Ye Wuxian’s prison of flames.

After all, Ye Wuxian had drawn upon her Ancient God Power, and even Lu Fan had no desire to physically touch those never-extinguishing flames with his own body.

With the prison of flames broken open, Lu Fan’s True Body finally appeared. He spread out his Bone Wings and soared through the gap into the prison.

Upon seeing Lu Fan arrive, the boundless fire condensed once more into Ye Wuxian’s Human Form.

Ye Wuxian’s delight was unmistakable. Hovering in mid-air, she called out, “Junior Brother, why are you here?”

Lu Fan smiled. “They wanted to harm you. So, of course I had to follow and see how things played out. Well, if something unexpected happened, at least that way, I would be there to help.”

Indeed. Although Lu Fan had absolute confidence in Ye Wuxian’s capabilities, there was no way he could sit comfortably at the Situ Family’s banquet trading toasts with Situ Qianqian and chatting merrily, knowing full well that someone had plotted to trap Ye Wuxian.

Once Ye Wuxian had been lured here, he had followed.

Although the Tie Family had shut down the Transport Array, the spatial distortion linking the two locations was still intact.

Lu Fan had simply summoned Xing Chen and had her use her Starry Space Passage to slip effortlessly through the spatial distortion and arrive at the same location as Ye Wuxian.

Upon reaching this place, Lu Fan had then used Dragon Language Replication to copy Ye Sha’s Skill, rendering himself invisible and Concealing himself here. He had been watching to see how well Ye Wuxian could wield her Ancient God Power, and whether she could resolve this issue on her own.

The result had surpassed Lu Fan’s expectations. Ye Wuxian had, without question, earned her place as the person who had once completely thrashed him.

Though she had only just recently come to possess her Ancient God Power, Ye Wuxian’s command of it was already quite high. Against an expert of the Tie Family Elder’s calibre, she had achieved an entirely one-sided beatdown.

This was, of course, partly due to the sheer overwhelming nature of her Ancient God Power. Compounded by her possession of an entire Legendary Grade Equipment Set, she easily overwhelmed her opponent.

Still, Ye Wuxian’s own innate ability was also a crucial factor.

One had to admit that Ye Wuxian was a genuine talent. Not merely in combat, but in her capacity to take any new ability she acquired and immediately employ it with flexibility. Her mastery of a battle’s rhythm; and in the depth of her accumulated experience, was far too high.

Thus, the Tie Family being wiped out here by Ye Wuxian was entirely a natural outcome.

“I rather thought you had no idea what was happening here!” Ye Wuxian offered a smile, then put on an expression of indignation. “Honestly, knowing I’d been set up, and yet you stood there watching. Why did you not come out sooner? Using my Ancient God Power is very draining, you know?”

Ye Wuxian’s words were quite coquettish.

Lu Fan, upon hearing this, smiled and explained. “Well, I thought that having so many experts deliver themselves to the door for Senior Sister to test her abilities against was something one could only dream of. If I had stepped out and killed them all by myself, wouldn’t you have lost a perfect opportunity to verify your own strength and practise wielding your Ancient God Power?”

“Fine, fine. How sly of you. I’ll let it go this time!” Ye Wuxian made no effort to press the matter further. His explanation was reasonable enough, and she let it go at that.

Ye Wuxian stretched out a hand, and flames condensed from Ancient God Power rose from her palm.

She swept her gaze around the surroundings and found that only a handful of Players remained, still scrambling for some means of escape.

“Let me finish off these Tie Family members first, then we can return to the Situ Family’s banquet. Junior Brother, since you chose to hand me this chance to verify my strength, stay over there and watch how I handle my Ancient God Power.”

With that, she made ready to act once more.

But Lu Fan raised a hand to stop her. “Wait, Senior Sister. I’ve come out to actually also to stop you from continuing to kill them. Let them live for now.”

“Why?” Ye Wuxian did not understand. From what she knew of Lu Fan, he was not a Saint. There was no way he would feel sorry for these people, who had just tried to kill her. It was also impossible for him to be stopping her out of compassion.

Lu Fan smiled, cast the remaining individuals a glance, then suddenly let a terrifyingly oppressive force erupt from his being.

“Disperse Weaklings!”

As the power of Lu Fan’s Skill detonated, every last remaining Player felt as though their mind had been struck by a crushing hammer blow. An overwhelming flood of fear poured in, leaving their thoughts completely blank.

In an instant, everyone crumpled to the ground, robbed of their consciousness.

Only then did Lu Fan withdraw the Skill’s Effect, and said at an unhurried pace. “If we kill these people, we will have no way to tell where the rest of the Tie Family would have scattered to. Better to keep some of them alive, compel them to reveal the whereabouts of the other Tie Family members. After all, from this day onwards, the Tie Family has no reason to continue existing!”

Ye Wuxian finally understood.

If the Tie Family had dared to ambush her, they had inevitably prepared for the possibility of Lu Fan’s retaliation.

So, by now, the Tie Family’s main residence was likely already empty.
