Chapter 197: Inside the Academy

Sunny instantly shook his head, ”Bro is super strong. I can’t beat him. So I’ll take the second position.”

As straightforward as ever.

Martha was really surprised this time. Making a friend was one thing but admitting he was not as good as this boy was not normal. She knew her grandson very well.

Though Sunny looked very innocent, he was a very competitive boy. He would always compete with his elder brother and sister and had broken most of the records they created in their childhood.

He never admitted defeat. More ridiculous thing was that Sunny’s life goal was to defeat the ancestor of the family who happened to be the dean of this academy and the stongest magus of the human race.

But this time, he was saying he was not as good as that boy, so definitely Ethan had something special.

She hadn’t had the time before to investigate the new friend her grandson made today, but now she did.

She was also an instructor in the Supreme Magus Academy and a very powerful one at the Epic Rank.

She decided she would ask Lucas about Ethan.

Ethan saw her suspicious look and smiled wryly. This new friend of his was too simple. Someday, he was sure, Sunny would get a spanking on his butt because of him.

”Hello senior.”

Martha replied, ”You can call me instructor.”

Sunny immediately chimed in, ”Why would he call you instructor? Isn’t he my bro? So he should call you grandmother.”

Both Ethan and Martha felt a slight twitch on their faces.

Ethan said, ”Okay Sunny, let’s go inside.”

Then Ethan and Sunny went inside the academy together.

Martha was still watching him. Her suspicion was not unfounded.

Sunny was a naive boy and belonged to the strongest magus family in the human race.

Of course, there were shady people who might send their sons or daughters after her sweet grandson. She was extra protective of him.

Ethan entered the campus for the first time. From the outside, nothing could be seen. A grand barrier covered the entire academy.

Only permitted people could enter the academy and see what it looked like.

The area of the academy was huge. Many buildings and different types of facilities could be seen here and there.

Sunny said by his side, ”I once came here with my grandma when I was little.”

Ethan looked at him with disdain.

”When you were little, huh?”

Sunny didn’t get that and nodded seriously.

”The food in the canteen is super good. Let’s go and eat something first.”

Ethan said, ”No, we are still not students here. And you came here as a candidate, not with your grandma, so stop thinking about food and concentrate on the battle.

Who knows, there might be a dark horse.”

”Dark horse? Do you think a beast has come here secretly disguising itself as a human? We should tell grandma as soon as possible.”

Ethan couldn’t help but slap his forehead in frustration.

Sunny was so good when it came to magic and stuff like that, but he seemed totally oblivious when it came to day-to-day life. He was pampered to the extreme.

Looks like I will have to train this fatty. Otherwise, someone will surely cheat him one day.

Sunny felt disappointed and expectantly looked at Ethan.

Ethan had seen those expecting eyes before and directly said,

”No way. No more food. Become second first, then I will treat you.”

Sunny first felt a little dejected and then instantly became happy.

”Promise?”

Ethan smiled, ”Promise.”

Martha smiled from her office. This boy was interesting.

She didn’t call Lucas yet as he was busy preparing for the next and final round. She would learn everything after the test ended.

Soon Ethan and Sunny reached the huge ground.

It was at least 10 kilometers in length and width.

Already all the other candidates had gathered.

Lucas appeared and said,

”First, congratulations on getting admission into the academy. Now is the test to determine your true rank.

Give your all to the battle. Don’t worry, teachers and medics are present, so serious injury won’t occur. Just go all out—except you, brat.”

He looked at Ethan.

Ethan’s face turned sour.

Lucas gave a cold snort, ”Don’t give me that look. Who told you to be so strong at your age?”

He was clearly praising Ethan with a scolding tone, a shameless way to show he liked Ethan so much.

The students became confused.

”Who is this boy? The head instructor is clearly showing him favoritism. Is this even allowed in the academy?”

A handsome young boy raised his hand.

Lucas looked at him and gave him permission to talk.

”Sir, you are clearly showing favoritism to this boy. Isn’t it against the rules?”

The 500 students who made it here didn’t hold ordinary backgrounds, except for a few.

So this boy certainly had the backbone to question the instructor.

Lucas felt a little embarrassed. He had never met someone like Ethan before, so he got a little carried away.

He coughed.

”I am doing this for your own good. And I can tell you this, he already got admitted to the academy in the first round. He didn’t even need to join the hunting phase. It was his decision to join because he wanted to.

He is crazy strong. If he goes all out, he can take down a Grand Tier beast easily.

Now tell me, am I showing him favoritism?”

Instantly, all their eyes widened.

What the instructor said was way too crazy.

”Got admitted in the first round? Can take down a Grand Tier beast by himself?”

They seriously thought the instructor had reached the pinnacle of shamelessness just to show favoritism.

The boy who asked the question said again,

”I don’t believe this.”

Lucas this time spoke in a cold voice,

”Believing or not believing is your decision. Besides, you will know soon, won’t you?”

The boy stopped at the cold tone and then looked at Ethan.

”I am Mark Denver. I challenge you to a duel. Do you dare to accept?”
