Chapter 187: The Last Ordeal

Ethan woke up the next morning, fully free from all kinds of fatigue he had felt yesterday.

Then he freshened up. The guards brought him breakfast.

While eating, Relf was filling him in.

”Your highness, this year there are 10 billion applicants. So the academy thought of the process of cutting them down by giving them a comprehension test.

They will supply you a top-tier spell according to your element. You have to comprehend it in 3 hours.

The next phase is not disclosed yet.”

Ethan nodded. Fair enough. A normal guy would at least need a month to master a normal spell, but a top-tier one? That would take years to master.

But the academy was only giving 3 hours, so one could easily understand the scale they were aiming for.

No wonder only the monsters in human skin could join the Supreme Academy.

”So when are they giving us the spells?” Ethan asked.

”There are way too many people. You already have the admission token, right your highness?”

Ethan nodded. ”Yes, I have. This token was always in our royal family. One of our forefathers got this token, but he did not use it and kept it for someone in the future in his bloodline with suprerior potential.”

Ethan remembered his father said, every year, the teachers of the academy would travel the entire human continent, and they would give this token to the potential candidates.

The candidate could use this token themselves or someone from their bloodline could attend the test.

Ethan’s ancestors did not feel the candidate who was given this token was capable enough. So they did not let him try.

They kept it safe for generations. Only now did they find Ethan to be a worthy successor of the token. Besides, the ancestor also gave his permission, that was why he got this.

Relf nodded. ”Once the owner of the token enters the 100 km radius of the academy, the token will be activated and you will get your respective spell.

After getting the spell, you will have 3 hours to comprehend and perform the spell. Once you have performed it in front of the token, an administrator will give your token the green pass to enter the academy campus.”

Ethan finally understood the process.

”This token is super useful. Isn’t it?”

Relf also nodded in agreement.

”When will it start?” Ethan asked.

”It has already started. After eating, we should go to, your highness.”

Soon Ethan finished his meal and went with Relf toward the academy. He did not take other guards, as the capital of the Holy Britannian Empire was the safest place in the entire human continent.

No one would dare to cause troubles here. Not even the demons or the dragons.

Soon they reached the 100 km radius and even from this far, he saw countless people. They all had that nervous look on their faces.

After entering, Ethan’s white token in his hand was activated and a blinding light lit up.

Ethan put the token on his forehead. It was the process of receiving the spell.

Soon Ethan got the spell and the diagram of it.

This spell was also a 9-level spell. But he would only have to comprehend the 1st level.

The name of the spell was,

”The Last Ordeal.”

Ethan instantly sat down cross-legged and started comprehending.

Meanwhile, in the Supreme Magus Academy,

”How are things looking this year? How many have got their spells till now?” asked one teacher.

The man on the chair, who was looking at a magic screen, said, ”8.9 billion, and the number is increasing.”

The head administration officer nodded his head.

But just as he was about to leave, the officer under him suddenly stood up.

”Sir, something big has happened just now.”

”Oh? What happened?”

”Sir, that spell was just now sent to a candidate,” the subordinate teacher replied.

”Are you sure? The dean placed that spell for millions of years now, but no fated one has ever appeared to get that spell. Now finally someone appeared?

A supreme spell of humanity, capable of annihilating an entire continent, and the only supreme spell which was placed free to find out the fated person the dean was looking for.”

The head administrator said again, ”Show me what he is doing now. Getting the spell and comprehending it is not the same. I hope he can pass. And extend his time limit to one day.”

The subordinate nodded and instantly the video of Ethan appeared on the screen.

They saw a young boy with long silver hair sitting cross-legged, his eyes closed.

”Okay little one, show us what you have got. If you can pass, the dean might take you as his personal and his only disciple.”

Ethan, on the other hand, was looking at the spell diagram. It was significantly tougher than what he expected, but he was also not familiar with a top-tier spell, so he thought they were all probably like this one.

But Ethan did not take much time to memorize the first diagram.

The spell said the caster could bring a catastrophic lightning tribulation depending on his mana manipulation and the area he could control.

Besides, to truly cast it in a grand manner, one needed to be at least at the Arch Magus level.

Ethan stood up after 25 minutes.

The administrator was surprised. Why would he stand up? Did he already give up? Did he not see that I already extended his time? Or is he not even brave enough to try for that time?

The administrator was disappointed.

But then he heard Ethan saying something inhuman.

”Relf, I want you to find me a clear space of 5 km radius where I can try the spell.”

Relf was standing behind Ethan like the loyal knight he was.

Relf was petrified by hearing this, but still did as he was asked.

”As you wish, your highness.”

But before he could do anything, he heard a hush in the air and a tall man in an aristocratic magus robe appeared in front of them.

Relf instantly became stunned, not by fear but by the pressure. This man was radiating pressure on par with the ancestor.
