Chapter 169: Arriving in the main palace

Ethan was thinking about the realm of power while going to the main palace with his mother.

Apprentice Magus

Adept Magus

True Magus

High Magus

Grand Magus

Arch Magus

He had learned them by reading books.

Soon they came out of his mother’s palace and Ethan looked around.

The palace was located to the south of the main palace, and it was about one kilometer away from it.

When they came out, soldiers were already waiting for them outside and a grand carriage was prepared. Two monster horses would pull the carriage.

They had red manes and two horns on their foreheads. The horses were Adept-level monsters.

Ethan was very excited when he saw the monsters for the first time. He had only read about them in books but never seen them in real life.

”Mother, look. Two red mane horses. They look terrifying.”

Trina saw the extremely excited look on her son’s face and she smiled.

”Yes, let us go. Everyone would be waiting otherwise,” she replied softly.

Ethan nodded and entered the carriage with his mother.

He looked at her and asked, ”Mother, how is this aptitude test done?”

Trina said, ”It is done by a Grand Magus in the palace. He will put you in a circle and let you sit cross-legged. Then he will channel his mana into the runic circle.

The mana will circulate in a unique pathway and enter your body.

If you have the aptitude of an Elemental Magus, a mark of that element will engrave itself onto your forehead.

If you have the aptitude of a Knight, a core will awaken inside your body, where you can absorb mana with the core and make your body stronger.

And finally, if you have the aptitude of a Beast Master, you will awaken a seed inside your body. If a beast willingly swallows that seed, it will be contracted to you, and you will gain feedback power through that seed.”

Trina gave him a rough idea about the aptitude test.

Ethan listened very carefully. He wanted to know what would happen to him.

Soon the carriage reached the gate of the main palace.

The leader of the guard, Benimaru, opened the door of the carriage.

Trina and Ethan stepped out. The head butler came out from the palace and bowed to them.

”Welcome, Your Highness, and the Fifth Prince. Everyone is waiting for you.”

Then he escorted them inside the palace. It was decorated with the finest materials in the empire, many of which were brought from outside the empire too.

When they entered the hall of the palace, one of the guards shouted loudly,

”Her Highness the Fifth Empress and His Highness the Fifth Prince have arrived.”

As soon as he said that, everyone looked at them.

There were so many people. There were also children, boys and girls, dressed in elegant clothes and standing close to their parents.

Soon Ethan looked at the stage at the very end of the hall. There were six thrones. The middle one was the grandest throne, and the other five were similar.

Only one remained vacant.

Trina slowly walked toward the throne with Ethan, while everyone was greeting her as she passed by.

Ethan saw his father, Emperor Cadis Entrama Di Raizel, sitting on the grand throne, and four beautiful women were also sitting on the other four thrones.

Soon they stopped in front of the throne.

Ethan said with a bow, ”It is an honor to be in your presence, Father Emperor.”

Then he looked at the other four women and said, ”Good morning to you, First, Second, Third, and Fourth Mother Empress.”

Ethan looked very adorable in his outfit and in the way he spoke.

The first education all the royal children received was how to conduct themselves in front of others, especially in front of the emperor.

Cadis Di Raizel nodded in satisfaction and said, ”Ethan Di Raizel, come forward and accept your gift.”

Ethan went in front of the grand throne and sat with a half-kneeling posture.

Cadis Di Raizel waved his hand and a dagger appeared in his palm.

”This is one of the family heirlooms. I am giving it to you. It will protect you in your long journey of life.”

Ethan did not know what type of treasure it was, but he was happy to receive something from his father. However, the expression of everyone around changed.

Especially the First Empress. Her expression turned nasty.

She had almost begged the emperor to give that dagger to her son on his aptitude test day, but the emperor had never budged.

Yet today, without even the Fifth Empress asking, he was giving it to the Fifth Prince.

Why was that? Was it because the Fifth Empress was the most beautiful woman in the empire? That had to be it.

But she hated that reason. She wanted nothing more than to destroy that woman, but she did not say anything out loud.

The expressions of the others were also not very good, except for the Fourth Empress.

She had a gentle smile on her face.

”Thank you, Father Emperor, for your gift,” Ethan said, then stood up and went to his mother’s side.

Trina also greeted the emperor and sat on her throne.

Then she looked at the Fourth Empress and started talking to her.

Soon a girl of seven years old came onto the stage and went directly to the Fourth Empress.

”Mother, you called me?” she asked.

”Yes, take your fifth brother and introduce him to the others,” she said.

Trina looked at Ethan and said, ”This is your Fourth Sister, Aliana Di Raizel. Say hello to her.”

Ethan looked at the girl who was wearing a fine gown and said, ”Hello sister, I am Ethan Di Raizel. It is nice to meet you.”

Aliana first gauged him from head to toe, then smiled. ”Hello little brother. I am your big sister, Aliana Di Raizel. It’s nice to meet you too.”

She felt very smug today. Until today, she had been the youngest in the royal family, but now she finally had someone to boss around. It was the happiest family occasion in her life because she was no longer the youngest.

Ethan also smiled when he saw her smiling.

Then Aliana said, ”Let us go. Second Brother has already arrived. First and Third Brother are on their way.”

Then she took Ethan’s hand and led him to meet the others.
