Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

The corpse lay right in the middle of the corridor. Before those students could get close, Lin Ye grabbed the corpse’s calf, dragged it, and immediately turned to run.

”Run! They’re getting closer!”

Although Phoebe couldn’t see what was behind her, she could hear footsteps almost pressed against her back.

”Don’t panic. Their maximum running speed is fixed. As long as they don’t suddenly accelerate, they absolutely won’t catch up.”

Lin Ye swung the corpse and cradled it in his arms. He needed to study what was going on with this body.

”What if they do suddenly accelerate?”

Phoebe asked nervously.

”Then I’ll also accelerate to pull ahead. Don’t worry, we won’t be caught before your body breaks down.”

Lin Ye offered a word of comfort.

”What do you mean, ’breaks down’?!”Phoebe did not feel comforted at all.

”Exactly what it sounds like. Your body is too fragile. I don’t dare use it recklessly at all. But even though I haven’t exerted much force, this body is already on the verge of giving out.”

Lin Ye suddenly sped up, then flung open a window and threw the corpse outside.

”What are you doing?!”

Phoebe was startled. If that corpse was the key to escaping this place, then throwing it outside meant abandoning all hope of escape. She might be trapped here forever.

”Taking you back, of course.”

Lin Ye returned control of the body to Phoebe.

”...Huh? We’re back?”

Phoebe stared at the bright street lamps lining the road outside the window, her voice filled with disbelief.

They had returned to the normal world. Those students and the Spider Man outside the window were gone.

”It’s too early to relax. I don’t feel safe nearby.”

Lin Ye reminded her.

”How did you know throwing the corpse down would bring us back?”

Phoebe really wanted to know the method for dealing with this kind of abnormal incident.

”That involves some knowledge of ritual studies. For someone without a foundation, it might be hard to understand. It’s not something that can be explained in a short while. You’d better leave this place as soon as possible.”

Lin Ye didn’t think wasting time here was a good idea.

”Who’s over there?”

A flashlight beam illuminated the corridor. A middle-aged man wearing a security guard uniform entered the third-floor hallway.

”Ah, I’m a student from Class 2, Grade 3. I fell asleep earlier and am just preparing to go home now.”

Phoebe didn’t mention she had been jogging on the sports field earlier, because running on the field at night seemed a bit suspicious.

”I suggest you turn around and run immediately. This man isn’t right. At the very least, he’s not a security guard. That uniform doesn’t fit him properly. There are bloodstains on the hem. It was likely stripped from a corpse.”

Lin Ye finally understood why this job only required working once a week. It was troublesome enough.

This time, Phoebe didn’t refuse Lin Ye’s suggestion. She turned and ran without the slightest hesitation.

”Hey! Don’t run!”

The security guard also didn’t hesitate, immediately giving chase.

”What do I do? I don’t think I’m faster than him, and my stamina is almost completely drained!”

Phoebe was breathing heavily. She felt her whole body going weak, and deep in her throat was a sensation like she was about to cough up blood.

”Then hand the body over to me. I’ll deal with him for you.”

Compared to abnormal incidents, Lin Ye was more skilled at dealing with humans.

”...Why are you helping me?”

Phoebe didn’t immediately hand over control to Lin Ye. Instead, she asked a question.

”My job is to ensure your body lasts until the work is finished. This job will probably last a few hours. For me, completing this job isn’t actually difficult. Controlling consciousness, modifying the body... I have many ways to finish the work. But I won’t do that kind of thing to a normal stranger. That’s all.”

If Phoebe were the kind of irredeemably evil person, things would be much easier for Lin Ye.

”Well, thank you very much.”

After saying that, Phoebe handed control of her body over to Lin Ye.

Lin Ye immediately stopped running, turned around, and charged straight at the security guard.

Perhaps because he didn’t expect Phoebe to suddenly turn back, the guard didn’t react appropriately. He simply reached out to grab Phoebe’s neck.

Lin Ye saw through the guard’s movements completely. He could even simulate the guard’s next ten seconds in his mind.

As long as the other party didn’t act in a way that exceeded Lin Ye’s expectations, then this future was the guard’s upcoming Fate.

’So that’s it... This is Fate...’

Lin Ye rarely encountered situations where he needed to fight ordinary people, so it was only now that he realized this was the Fate of an ordinary person.

The so-called Fate is the pattern of action for a living being under established conditions.

Influenced by their environment, the Fate of ordinary creatures is almost predetermined, differing only in branches and endings. Only the strong can truly decide their own Fate.

Using his momentum, Lin Ye deflected the guard’s right arm and simultaneously drove the fingernails of his right hand into the man’s neck, slicing open the man’s carotid artery.

The man still wanted to resist, but his actions were all within Lin Ye’s expectations. Until Lin Ye took him down, he hadn’t managed to retrieve the thing hidden inside his clothes.

”Weapons should be kept where they can be used at any moment. Do you really need someone else to teach you such a basic principle?”

Lin Ye retrieved a bone dagger from inside the man’s clothes. The dagger contained a dense concentration of mental energy.

”...Did you kill him?”

Phoebe was just a high school student. This country was a peaceful country. She had only seen video programs about murder cases and had never imagined she would come into contact with a homicide in this way.

”No. *You* killed him. Although I didn’t leave any fingerprints, there are many surveillance cameras in the school. It will be very hard for you to cover up this fact. In a few hours, I will leave this place. You’d better figure out your current situation as quickly as possible.”

Phoebe agreed to let Lin Ye deal with the man, so she had to bear the consequences herself.

As for whether she had considered all this, that wasn’t Lin Ye’s problem.

”Will I be arrested? I’m still a minor. I probably won’t be sentenced for too long, right?”

Phoebe asked, extremely nervous.

”This man was definitely not a good person. The school’s real security guard was probably already killed by him. You should be more concerned about whether he had accomplices, and whether those accomplices will come looking for you. As for the police, you can just make up a story to get past them. For example, you can weave the man into the previous abnormal incident. Nine parts truth, one part lie. It’s the simplest way to deceive.”

Lin Ye didn’t like lying because it was too inefficient. He preferred using the truth to achieve his goals.

If he were the one facing the police, he would recount the entire incident exactly as it happened, of course, described from his perspective.

But that method was too difficult for a middle school student who didn’t lie often. Only a performance expert like Lin Ye could use it.

”...I understand.”

With a heavy heart, Phoebe took control of her body again. Her fingers had a sticky, viscous sensation.
