Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

”Should I get down?”

The moment Landy considered that the other party might be that anomalous phenomenon that had been disguising itself as D-Class personnel to help them with their tasks, he felt it wasn’t quite right to be stepping on them.

”No need. Those monsters might still be chasing us from behind. Let’s keep sliding for a while. Once we’ve put enough distance between us, we’ll head to the next area.”

Lin Ye didn’t mind being stepped on... after all, this wasn’t his real body.

The two slid along the tunnel for some time. After confirming the monsters wouldn’t be catching up for now, Lin Ye stopped his slide by grabbing onto the platform’s railing.

Afterwards, the two stayed in the same plane and split up to search. Landy soon encountered that type of cardboard.

He created a passageway in the cardboard, then went to rendezvous with Lin Ye in the distance. Together, they passed through the cardboard and arrived at the next area.

’...It’s not the office from that supermarket earlier? Could it be related to time?’

On the other side of the cardboard was a pitch-black cavern. In the darkness, the faint sounds of creatures crawling could be heard.

This time, without Lin Ye needing to say anything, Landy immediately distanced himself from Lin Ye to search for cardboard. He had no desire to linger in this environment. This place seemed far more dangerous than the Underground Tunnels. No one knew what might emerge from the darkness.

Lin Ye moved away from Landy in the dark. He soon found that type of cardboard, but when he turned back to look for Landy, he discovered Landy had already vanished.

As long as the two separated by a certain distance, cardboard would automatically appear, so Landy couldn’t have gone far, especially in an environment like this.

Lin Ye had no choice but to search for Landy along the cavern. Without Landy, he’d have to pick a favorite burial plot between these two areas.

’He disappeared very quickly, and without making a sound. Perhaps he was ambushed by some kind of monster hiding in the darkness.’

Lin Ye began sliding within the cavern. The cavern wasn’t smooth, but sliding had no cooldown. He could continuously use the Sliding skill to maintain forward momentum.

Using the Sliding skill repeatedly wouldn’t increase his sliding speed, but it would keep him in the sliding state.

Relying on sliding, Lin Ye soon heard dragging sounds from somewhere about three hundred meters ahead.

Lin Ye continued sliding forward. Before long, he caught up to Landy, who was being dragged away by something.

Some bioluminescent plants grew in the cavern. By their faint light, Lin Ye saw what was dragging Landy away: they were some kind of black, long worms covered in limbs.

Those long worms also noticed Lin Ye. Some of them stopped moving. They turned around and began crawling swiftly across the cavern walls, charging toward Lin Ye.

Lin Ye had no intention of slowing down at all. He charged straight toward those worms.

As he neared the long worms, Lin Ye suddenly pushed off the ground with both hands, making his body leap into the air.

He smoothly slid right through the gaps between the limbs of those long worms. The worms tried to stop him but found their limbs, capable of shredding flesh, couldn’t get a grip on his prison garb at all.

’Good thing these worms want to capture me alive.’

Lin Ye breathed a sigh of relief. Sliding wasn’t invincible. This skill only reduced the friction coefficient between him and the items he carried; it couldn’t make him immune to damage.

After passing through the midst of those long worms, Lin Ye quickly caught up to Landy. At this moment, Landy was struggling fiercely among the worms.

”Jump on!”

Lin Ye charged toward Landy and the worms at an extremely high speed. Hearing Lin Ye’s instruction, Landy violently broke free from the restraints on his legs, found the right moment, and rolled onto Lin Ye’s back.

After making contact with Lin Ye, all the worms clinging to Landy began slipping and were flung off behind the two.

”Cough, cough, thanks!”

Landy crouched on Lin Ye’s back, gasping for breath. He had thought he was done for.

”Don’t just stand there! What’s ahead is most likely the nest of those long worms. The worms behind won’t give us another chance to slip through. We can’t turn back now. I’ll try to maintain a stable sliding state. I need you to deal with the enemies ahead.

Your actions will affect the sliding state. Try not to create frontal resistance for me; that will slow us down.”

Lin Ye said loudly.

”...I understand!”

Landy pulled out two energy bars he had previously stuffed in his pockets. His task wasn’t to kill the long worms, but to deflect them away without receiving frontal resistance.

He needed to deflect the worms to either side. The length of the energy bars was just right—easy to control, yet not getting too close.

This task wasn’t easy. If there were too many worms in the nest, Landy wasn’t confident they could get through.

Soon, they entered the worm nest area. The cavern walls were crawling with black long worms of varying lengths. The sound of limbs crawling was everywhere in the nest.

Landy continuously swung the energy bars, deflecting the worms approaching them from all sides. The sliding state was affected, forcing Lin Ye to constantly adjust their sliding position using his hands.

He occasionally used the reaction force to leap into the air, dodging worms pouncing at him.

But worms were everywhere in the nest. Landy couldn’t guarantee applying force only sideways. The sliding speed unavoidably decreased.

The worms behind continuously closed the distance between them and the two. Those worms were far thicker and sturdier than the ones guarding the nest. This time, they wouldn’t let the two slide past again.

”What do we do! The worms behind are about to catch up!”

Landy was focused on deflecting the worms, but he couldn’t ignore the crawling sounds of the worms behind him.

”No need to worry. It’s even better if they catch up. You can accelerate me by batting them away. If you’re afraid of missing, fire backward, but your magazines are probably running low, right?

As for the front, I’ll handle it.”

Lin Ye’s calm voice was like a lighthouse in a pitch-black sea, instantly calming Landy down.

Thinking of those rumors, he suddenly felt this place wasn’t so terrifying after all.

”Okay.”

Landy turned to face the thick, large worms gradually closing in from behind. He didn’t use the Rifle tied to his waist. These worms weren’t dangerous enough to be untouchable. Rifle ammunition had to be saved for those monsters that couldn’t be touched.

”Stand steady!”

Lin Ye began constantly changing their movement path using his limbs. The trajectory of every single worm around him was clearly visible in his eyes. Even the effects caused by Landy were within his considerations.

”Damn worms! No one is stopping me from going home!”

Landy injected a syringe into his neck. His pupils contracted sharply. His hands swiftly lashed out, batting away all the approaching long worms!

With Landy’s cooperation, Lin Ye’s sliding speed continuously increased. He began ’flying’ through the mine shaft. Worms approaching him were all pushed aside, and his speed didn’t diminish in the slightest.

Through seamless cooperation, the two soon traversed the worm nest, leaving the swarm of worms behind them.
