Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Lin Ye slammed on the brakes, swerving the sports car sideways to block the tunnel entrance.

Chess: What’s wrong?

Lin Ye: I don’t know, but I have a feeling this tunnel is very likely problematic.

Caris: Should I get out and throw something in to test it?

Lin Ye: No need, I have another method.

Lin Ye used spiritual energy materials to create a red butterfly. The butterfly flew toward the tunnel and quickly entered deep inside.

Then the connection between Lin Ye and the butterfly was severed.

Lin Ye could confirm the butterfly wasn’t teleported to another area, but rather died inside the tunnel.

”It really is problematic.”

Lin Ye took out the Cross Scepter, but before he could act, the tunnel ahead suddenly crawled up from the ground, then vanished from their field of vision at an astonishing speed.Lin Ye: What the hell was that...

Lin Ye had to admit, the other party’s escape speed surpassed his own.

Amy: Did that tunnel just... grow legs and run away?

Chess: Is this the world of the big shots? Truly terrifying.

Caris: Why did it run away? My reaction speed couldn’t even keep up with its escape speed.

Lin Ye: Who knows. Maybe it saw something frightening.

Lin Ye stepped on the accelerator and continued driving forward. Not long after, they discovered several more tunnel entrances by the roadside. These tunnels didn’t run away, but now a new problem emerged: which tunnel was the correct exit?

Caris: What do we do about this?

Chess: We’re not going to have to try each tunnel one by one, are we?

Amy: Every tunnel here looks about the same, completely indistinguishable.

Lin Ye: It’s fine, I have a way.

Lin Ye used flesh and blood materials to create dozens of flesh and blood butterflies. The flesh and blood butterflies flew toward those tunnels, each one entering a different tunnel entrance.

Through the status of the flesh and blood butterflies, Lin Ye quickly found several tunnels that didn’t cause the butterflies to die.

Lin Ye parked the sports car at the entrance of one of these tunnels. He took out the Lucky Coin, tossed it into the air, and caught it.

It was heads.

Lin Ye then drove the sports car near the entrance of another tunnel. He tossed the Lucky Coin again, and the result was still heads.

Lin Ye: This is a bit troublesome. It seems the correct tunnel isn’t just one.

Chess: Then just pick one randomly?

Lin Ye: That’s the only option.

Lin Ye randomly chose a tunnel. This tunnel was very short, and they soon saw light at the other end.

Caris: What kind of hellish place is this?

The other side of the tunnel connected to a cemetery. Unlike a normal cemetery, the deceased’s corpses weren’t buried in the ground, but were instead placed in front of the tombstones.

Thousands upon thousands of tombstones and corpses were neatly arranged on the flat ground. Rather than a cemetery, this place looked more like some kind of specimen display area.

After the sports car drove over to this side, the tunnel behind them disappeared. They were left in this space filled with silence and death.

Amy: This area gives me a very bad feeling. We’d better leave here as soon as possible.

Lin Ye: This place seems to be used for storing biological samples. These are all the corpses of powerful individuals. You can study the mutation structures within their bodies as a reference.

Caris: Big shot, not everyone can learn mutation structures from a corpse. That requires sufficiently high mental strength and knowledge level.

Lin Ye: Then there’s nothing I can do. The things are placed right in front of you. Whether you can learn them or not is your own problem.

Lin Ye randomly picked a direction and drove forward along the small path between the graves. While driving, he casually used mental energy to sense the mutation structures inside those corpses.

Every spiritual energy user needs to undergo an evolutionary path, whether long or short. These corpses could allow them to avoid many detours.

The corpses in the cemetery had undergone some kind of preservation treatment, maintaining a fresh state.

Lin Ye had seen most of the mutation structures here, but there was also a portion he hadn’t encountered before. These corpses once again enriched his understanding of mutation structures.

”Good... to... look... at?”

The corpses on both sides of the sports car suddenly all turned their heads to look at the car, or more accurately, at Lin Ye sitting in the Driver’s Seat.

”They look very good. Are you the master of this place? We were teleported here by a tunnel. We apologize for disturbing you.”

Lin Ye stopped the sports car. He wasn’t the type of person who was unreasonable. Although not intentional, they had after all intruded into someone else’s territory. Apologizing was still appropriate.

”...I don’t like strangers wandering around my home. I’ll show you the way. Leave here as quickly as possible.”

A corpse by the roadside detached from its tombstone. It opened the car door, picked up Penguin Baby, and sat in the Co-driver seat.

”Alright, we’ll leave right away... You can see it?”

Lin Ye glanced at Penguin Baby lying peacefully in the corpse’s arms. He remembered the system introduction stated that others couldn’t see Penguin Baby.

”I can’t see it, but I can sense there’s an unknown creature here.”

The corpse didn’t have any strange odor. On the contrary, one could feel a refreshing sensation around it.

”It’s a penguin baby. Can I sense the mutation structures of these corpses?”

Following the corpse’s guidance, Lin Ye navigated through the cemetery. He didn’t attempt to sense the mutation structures inside the surrounding corpses, since the master of this place was sitting right beside him.

”No. Unless you can provide me with some mutation structures I haven’t seen before as an exchange.”

The corpse didn’t agree.

”Fine. I’ll give you some mutation structure information first.”

Lin Ye created mental marks containing information about some relatively rare mutation structures and handed them to the corpse.

The corpse didn’t directly check the information inside the mental marks. Instead, it placed the mental marks into the brain of another corpse by the roadside.

After half a minute, the corpse finally spoke:

”You can check the surrounding corpses, but you cannot take detours.”

”Understood.”

Lin Ye began recording the mutation structures inside the surrounding corpses. He slightly reduced the sports car’s vehicle speed. The corpse beside him didn’t say anything.

Along the way, Lin Ye saw the wreckage of a sports car parked by the roadside. Judging by the model, it was also a shared sports car.

The owner inside had already disappeared, likely having become part of this cemetery.

Not long after, they encountered a tunnel entrance, but the corpse didn’t let Lin Ye approach it. Instead, it pointed them toward another path.

Caris: Could it be leading us to some dangerous place?

Amy: Hard to say. I can’t read a corpse’s expression.

Chess: You all better not make eye contact with it through the rearview mirror. Just now I saw its eyes. It felt like it could see right through what I was thinking.

Lin Ye: Your Consciousnesses are too weak. So it’s best not to think too many bad thoughts. Otherwise, if a fight breaks out later, I might not be able to protect you.

Caris: Received.
