Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

The feeling was wrong, he couldn’t go back. He needed to get off at Botanical Garden, otherwise...

Otherwise what? Should he try it out...

Countless chaotic thoughts crowded Lin Ye’s mind, generating various impulses that prevented normal thinking.

Lin Ye stood up and walked toward the door, then suddenly stopped and returned to his seat. Just after sitting down, he stood up again and walked toward the door, repeating this process over and over.

On his 103rd time sitting down, the broadcast sounded.

Next station: Stomach.

Passengers preparing to disembark, please get ready.

The train began to slow down. Lin Ye stood up and looked at the platform—this station was completely filled with flesh membrane and tendrils, everywhere squirming masses of meat writhed continuously.

’So this is Stomach. Will I get contaminated while inside the train?’

’Should I try getting off at another station to see what happens?’Lin Ye stood before the door, feeling the impulse to disembark, but his remaining rationality prevented this action.

Only when the doors closed did that impulse gradually fade.

Lin Ye leaned against the area near the door—he had almost crawled out just moments ago.

As the impulse faded, Lin Ye quickly regained his rationality. All the chaotic thoughts disappeared as if everything that just happened was an illusion.

’Too terrifying. Is this really caused by some kind of bacteria? It feels more like some kind of mental influence.’

Lin Ye sighed in relief and stood up to return to his previous seat, only to find someone already sitting there.

There sat a beautiful young girl wearing a white dress, her smooth black hair flowing down her back onto the seat.

”......”

Lin Ye didn’t speak. He couldn’t immediately determine where she came from.

The girl was a hallucination produced after he was infected with the laboratory bacteria.Lin Ye remembered the report mentioning ’after infected enter the fourth stage,’ meaning this infection had three previous stages. If generating impulses was the first stage of infection, then the second stage would likely produce hallucinations.

The girl was a passenger who just boarded.Lin Ye’s mental state had been very poor earlier—he no longer had energy to pay attention to other things. Even if someone boarded and sat in his seat, he wouldn’t have noticed.

But could someone really board at Stomach?

Or rather, was whatever boarded there really human?

The girl was similar to the Train Attendant, some kind of abnormal phenomenon on the train. It wouldn’t be strange for the train to have ’passengers’ as a role, so this possibility wasn’t zero.

For now, Lin Ye could only think of these three possibilities. Affected by the various impulses in his mind earlier, he still wasn’t completely clear-headed.

Lin Ye thought for a moment, then sat in a position neither too close nor too far from the girl. Just as he was considering how to start the conversation, the girl spoke first.

”That feeling is terrible, right? Very few people can completely endure through the first stage. After all, impulses born from curiosity mostly don’t lead to good things.”

The girl’s voice was pleasant to hear, giving whoever listened a sense of reassurance.

”So you’re my hallucination? Does the second stage only produce hallucinations?”

Lin Ye couldn’t help but take another look at the girl—his hallucination was quite beautiful.

”Hallucination?”

The girl grabbed Lin Ye’s right hand, placed it against her fair, tender cheek, looked into Lin Ye’s eyes, and asked with a smile:

”Do you think this is a hallucination?”

Feeling the girl’s 36.5°C body temperature, Lin Ye couldn’t tell whether he was in a hallucination or not. Everything around him felt too real.

”Then what are you?”

Lin Ye could only directly ask about her identity.

”Right now, I’m just a passenger.”

The girl’s hair moved slightly, writhing like tendrils toward Lin Ye, playing with the corner of his clothes.

”Which station are you getting off at?”

Lin Ye asked.

”I’m getting off at this station.”

As soon as the girl finished speaking, the train’s broadcast sounded.

Next station: Botanical Garden.

Passengers preparing to disembark, please get ready.

”...That’s quite a coincidence. I’m getting off here too.”

Lin Ye stood up and quickly walked toward a certain carriage. The train slowed down and stopped at Botanical Garden station.

”This place is dangerous. Do you need my help?”

The girl followed closely behind Lin Ye, like a little duckling following its mother.

”No need.”

Lin Ye quickly stepped out of the carriage, retrieved a train ticket from a plant’s branch, then rapidly returned to the carriage.

The entire process took less than two seconds. The surrounding plants showed no reaction, as if they were just ordinary plants.

Back in the carriage, Lin Ye finally had time to look at the station name on the ticket.

Botanical Garden → Restaurant

’Another new station. Well, as long as it’s not Death Ground, it’s acceptable.’

Lin Ye found a seat and sat down, ticket in hand. The girl naturally sat beside him.

”Aren’t you supposed to get off here?”

Having successfully obtained the ticket, Lin Ye felt much more relaxed.

”Are you sure you want to use this ticket? Restaurant isn’t a good place.”

The girl didn’t answer Lin Ye’s question.

”What’s in the Restaurant?”

Lin Ye habitually collected information.

”If you want to return, you’d better get off here and find another ticket. Get off, I’ll help you.”

The girl still didn’t answer Lin Ye’s question.

Lin Ye looked at the girl—he still hadn’t figured out her purpose.

Bzzzt... Bzzzt...

”...Hey, can you hear me?”

After some static, the Captain’s voice came through the earpiece.

”I can.”

Lin Ye didn’t expect the communication to still connect.

”Great, finally connected... Are you seeing hallucinations?”

The Captain suddenly asked.

”I don’t know if what I’m seeing are hallucinations.”

Lin Ye avoided the girl’s hand reaching for his earpiece as he spoke.

”Listen, don’t believe what your eyes see, and don’t trust strangers who suddenly appear in your field of vision. They’re all part of the abnormality—they’ll gain your trust, then guide you to make dangerous decisions.”

The Captain said seriously.

”Telling me this is useless. Even if you didn’t say it, I wouldn’t trust a stranger anyway. Better tell me what’s in the Restaurant.”

Lin Ye took off the earpiece and spoke into the microphone:

”I’ll give you a chance now—tell me what’s in the Restaurant. Maybe then I’ll trust you.”

”...How do you know I’m not the Captain?”

The voice in the earpiece became sharp and strange.

”I don’t know, and I don’t care.”

After being infected with the bacteria, Lin Ye distrusted everyone equally.

Lin Ye threw the earpiece on the ground and crushed it underfoot. He didn’t want someone talking in his ear while exploring the station later.

The train started moving, and the Train Attendant appeared again.

After taking Lin Ye’s ticket, the Train Attendant turned and disappeared—it completely ignored the girl sitting nearby.

Just as Lin Ye was pondering the relationship between the ’Captain’ and the girl, heavy footsteps gradually approached the carriage.

Lin Ye looked toward the direction of the footsteps. A burly man wearing firefighter gear and a fire helmet appeared in his field of vision.
