Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Everyone in the village was dead, with pulverized flesh and blood scattered everywhere across the ground.

Just by looking at the positions of the flesh and blood, Lin Ye could imagine what they had been doing before—on this peaceful, ordinary afternoon, the world had ended quite naturally.

”Why are we the only ones unaffected?”

Lin Ye carried a backpack containing various weapons and items found in Heath’s room.

”Their mental energy was too low. The moment the Plane merged with the Abyss, the Abyss connected with all living beings within that Plane and inflicted irreversible effects on them. Beings with lower mental energy couldn’t adapt to this connection—the spiritual influence affected their physical bodies, turning them into this state.”

Mia looked at the still-quivering flesh on the ground, knowing this was only the beginning. Soon, this flesh would transform into new life forms.

”So now we just need to survive? How long do we need to hold out? Any suggestions?”

Lin Ye wasn’t sure if he could still return to the Shelter anytime he wanted, since his consciousness wasn’t in the asylum or within Kevin’s body.

”This is a story born from two books merging together. I don’t know what will happen either, but stories always end eventually. So we just need to survive. What are you holding in your hand?”

Mia looked curiously at Lin Ye’s left hand, where he carried a bag containing a simple food container.”That young man from earlier gave it to me. It should contain pastries made by his mother.”

Lin Ye opened the container, revealing pastries with pale yellow crusts and white fillings that looked extremely sweet.

”Give me one.”

Mia unceremoniously picked up a pastry and took a bite.

Lin Ye also took one and bit into it. The pastry wasn’t as cloyingly sweet as it appeared, instead offering an elegant, subtle sweetness.

Rustling sounds came from the distance as tall shadows shifted—various bizarrely shaped Abyss creatures were approaching them.

The two shared the pastries, enjoying their final dessert time before battle.

”Anything to drink?”

Mia asked, looking at the flask hanging from Lin Ye’s waist.

”No, that’s accelerant fluid.”

Lin Ye didn’t like alcohol, so he could only use it as fuel.

”Alright, I was hoping to taste the local liquor.”

Mia magically produced two glasses of iced cola and handed one to Lin Ye.

”How did you know I like this?”

Lin Ye took a sip—it tasted exactly like the cola Little Ye had produced last time.

”I was peeping from outside last time. She ignored me, but replicating simple mental information isn’t difficult. By the way, do you know what she did after your consciousness entered the book last time?”

Mia finished her cola in one gulp—she quite liked this beverage.

”Read books. Didn’t do anything else.”

Lin Ye didn’t think he would do anything unusual while someone else was sleeping.

”If you say so.”

Mia revealed a meaningful smile.

”That’s exactly it. I understand her better than you do. Well, small talk should end about now.”

Lin Ye placed the food container on the ground. The old hunter’s primary weapons were a spear and hunting rifle, but Lin Ye didn’t know how to use the spear. However, Heath had a spare hunting knife.

Additionally, Lin Ye had another weapon.

Lin Ye used his special skill: Peace.

A silver-white large-caliber pistol appeared in his hand.

The moment he grasped the Peace Gun, Lin Ye understood how to use it.

This gun didn’t require bullets—it fired by injecting spiritual energy. Moreover, each time the Peace Gun killed an enemy, it would charge up. When the charge overflowed, the Peace Gun would reveal a new form.

Lin Ye channeled spiritual energy into the Peace Gun—energy that far exceeded his original body in both quality and quantity—then fired at a brain floating in the sky covered in dark red tendrils.

Bang!

The spiritual energy compressed to a degree Lin Ye couldn’t comprehend. The moment the spiritual energy bullet left the barrel, an irreversible energy explosion began.

The brain was pulverized into bloody foam by the violent spiritual energy—the bullet of Peace was somewhat excessive for it.

Lin Ye tucked Peace into his waist. Counterbalancing its power was the spiritual energy consumption—with Heath’s total spiritual energy capacity, he could only fire Peace ten times.

So if he wanted Peace to change form quickly, he needed to find some worthwhile enemies.

Lin Ye drew Heath’s hunting rifle. This third-tier spiritual energy weapon required physical bullets, but its spiritual energy consumption was minimal, making it perfect for clearing minor enemies.

Countless Mutation Creatures of various shapes charged toward them from all directions. Lin Ye erected a mutated spiritual energy shield around them, blocking various ranged attacks.

Any Mutation Creature that approached within a certain distance would be instantly killed by spiritual energy blades that appeared behind them. The more powerful Mutation Creatures that could dodge the backstabbing blades were systematically eliminated by Lin Ye using the hunting rifle, falling one after another outside the spiritual energy shield.

But these Mutation Creatures seemed endless, continuously converging on the village, while the massive shadows in the distance gradually drew closer.

”Time to go. If this continues, we’ll be worn down here. Your mental energy is stronger than mine—are there any spiritual energy structures nearby?”

Lin Ye prepared to establish a temporary base.

”There’s a church over there, but there’s something quite dangerous inside.”

Mia sensed their surroundings before speaking.

”What tier?”

Lin Ye canceled the spiritual energy shield, picked up Mia, and rushed in that direction.

”Probably fourth tier, possibly slightly higher. Definitely a mid-tier spiritual energy creature though.”

Mia didn’t resist. The old woman’s physical condition was average, and even with spiritual energy assistance, she couldn’t run very fast.

”Huh? A mid-tier spiritual energy creature? Can I defeat it?”

Lin Ye slowed his pace. He hadn’t dealt with mid-tier spiritual energy creatures before.

”The main difference between mid-tier and low-tier lies in the spiritual energy core and the mutation organs after advancement. Just be careful of the special abilities of the mutation organs, then shatter the spiritual energy core. With a body this strong, dealing with one or two mid-tier spiritual energy creatures shouldn’t be a problem at all.”

Mia said casually.

She actually had limited knowledge in this area since she rarely left the asylum. In her view, the mental energy of low-tier and mid-tier creatures was roughly similar.

As for physical bodies—they were hardly worth mentioning.

”Are you sure? This is the Abyss. Can I really handle mid-tier creatures of the Abyss?”

Lin Ye always felt Mia was somewhat unreliable.

”Probably, possibly, maybe you can handle it? I’m not skilled in physical combat—how would I know?”

Mia said with complete confidence.

”Alright then. By the way, isn’t this a story world? Shouldn’t you be quite powerful here?”

Lin Ye suddenly remembered this wasn’t the real Abyss, but rather the Abyss world within the story.

”Yes, but story worlds have their own operating rules. Unless I can oppose the entire story, I can only follow its rules and remain an ordinary old woman with strong mental energy.”

Mia completely surrendered her weight to Lin Ye. The story world born from the fusion of two dangerous books was proving much more troublesome than she had anticipated.
