Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1413: Chapter 1412: Bone Woman

Under the plundering of so many strong warriors, the elixirs in the Inner Hall were quickly swept clean. However, most of the preserved elixirs were of high grade, while those not of high quality had lost their medicinal power due to age, turning into dust.

Yet despite this, the Beichuan Family still collected many elixirs, numbering in the thousands when totaled; their harvest was quite bountiful.

Ling Chen, however, had already gathered so much Saint Body Ointment, he naturally had no thoughts about other elixirs. After all, it was agreed beforehand that he would take all the Saint Body Ointment, and the rest was to belong to the Beichuan Family; he would take none of it.

After finishing the collection of elixirs from the Inner Hall, the group exited through another stone door, for the way they came in was still guarded by dozens of Dog God Sculptures, and even Ling Chen did not want to tangle with them further.

Outside the palace, there were two avenues, one to the left and one to the right, and the group chose the path to the right.

Following the path, the group gradually reached the very core of the ruins, surrounded by buildings layered upon one another, exuding a chilling aura.

Before their eyes appeared a tall Shrine. The damage to the Shrine wasn’t severe, but a rather chilling aura emanated from within, and the eerie atmosphere around was dispersed from inside the Shrine.

”The Ise Shrine consists of Three Great Shrines: the Central Shrine, the Left Shrine, and the Right Shrine. Aside from the Central Shrine, the Left and Right Shrines enshrine two powerful ghost gods, the Bone Woman and the Rain Devil.”

Gazing at the eerie Shrine before them, Hong Ye beside them spoke solemnly.

”Two ghost gods?”

Ling Chen’s eyes showed a hint of surprise. Currently, each of Yingzhou’s various shrines enshrines only one ghost god, no shrine enshrines two, which is due to insufficient power to sustain them.

”Then what about the Central Shrine? Which ghost god does it enshrine?”

Ling Chen couldn’t help but ask softly.

Hong Ye said, ”The Central Shrine does not enshrine a ghost god, but rather the ancestor god recognized by all the shrines today—Cloud Monarch, who is also the only living divine spirit still in existence.”

”What, Cloud Monarch?”

Ling Chen’s expression changed as his heart was shocked to find that after stealing Emperor Qinling’s Undying Medicine, Cloud Monarch’s destination was Yingzhou, where he became the ancestor god.

”You just said, Cloud Monarch is still alive?”

Ling Chen’s astonishment grew—the existence of such a legendary figure was still alive. But Ling Chen quickly became clear, feeling he was unnecessarily asking, as Cloud Monarch, having stolen the Undying Medicine, likely gained immortality.

Hong Ye nodded and said, ”Cloud Monarch lived for a long time, but five hundred years ago, he achieved the Supreme Expert status and shattered the Void.”

”I didn’t expect Cloud Monarch to attain such heights.”

A trace of sentiment appeared on Ling Chen’s face. Cloud Monarch’s fame was far below Emperor Qinling’s, even just considered an attendant of the latter, yet Cloud Monarch became a Supreme Expert by shattering the Void, while Emperor Qinling ended in failure, becoming dust of history.

This left Ling Chen feeling rather rueful.

Not delaying too long outside, the group entered the Shrine.

The interior of the Shrine was dark, where not a finger could be seen, shrouded everywhere by a ghastly eerie atmosphere, pressing heavily upon the spirit.

Suddenly, the entire Shrine lit up; lanterns on the nearby walls illuminated the shrine.

Contrary to the expectation of dilapidation, the Shrine’s interior was remarkably clean, the wooden decor, yellowed floors showing no trace of time, as if new.

However, the moment the lanterns lit, Ling Chen felt the surrounding Void distort, the Beichuan Family members around him vanished one by one, even Hong Ye’s form slowly faded away with a surprised look.

”An illusion?”

Ling Chen’s first reaction was noticing this. He was about to activate his Golden True Eyes to unravel the illusion before him; even the illusion technique of Hundred-Eyed Demon couldn’t faze him, other illusions would hardly move him.

Just then, a pale-skinned stunningly beautiful woman suddenly appeared before him, at the instant she appeared, she reached for Ling Chen’s hand, a chilling coldness invaded from the hand.

The stunningly beautiful woman wore a loose robe, with long hair adorned by a ghastly white bone ornament, her whole body exuding an extremely chilling aura.

Yet Ling Chen’s face showed no fear, just a slight assessment of the other, Ling Chen spoke, ”You are the ghost god enshrined by this Shrine, right.”

Based on the woman’s appearance before him, Ling Chen roughly inferred she should be one of the two ghost gods of the Ise Shrine—Bone Woman.

With his right hand on the sword hilt, Ling Chen was prepared to act.

”Just a woeful person, why must the young master slay all at once.”

Said Bone Woman, gazing at Ling Chen’s face with a hint of sorrow in her eyes.

”Woeful person?”

Ling Chen sneered, ”It’s the first time I’ve heard a ghost god call themselves a woeful person.”

”A ghost god was once a human, only due to some reasons, they continue to exist in the form of ghost gods,”

Bone Woman spoke softly, ”Upon becoming a ghost god, one loses freedom, bound to survive by the Shrine. I have stayed here for five hundred years, and today, finally, I see a living person.”

”Since you’re so pitiful, why don’t I help you find relief.”

A cold glint appeared in Ling Chen’s eyes; he firmly believed ghost gods were no good. How could he possibly believe the Bone Woman’s words? Drawing his sword to slay was better to spare others from harm; furthermore, killing ghost gods could enhance Ling Chen’s Sword Intent, especially against strong ghost gods like Bone Woman, whose effects might be ten times better than that of the Hundred-Eyed Demon’s avatar.

Clang!

Without any hesitation, Ling Chen’s Treasure Sword abruptly unsheathed, sword qi like a rainbow, transforming into a bolt of lightning in his hand, mercilessly striking towards Bone Woman.

As soon as the Sword Light emerged, Bone Woman’s body dispersed like green smoke, evading Ling Chen’s Sword Light, reforming twenty meters away.

Yet Ling Chen didn’t allow Bone Woman any respite; the Thunder Sound Sword in his hand shot forth again, imbued with a powerful Sword Intent, invincible in force, attacking Bone Woman once more.
