Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 466: Chapter 465 Xuan Mang Sect_1

”It appears that there may be some secrets hidden within the Blood Refining Sect.”

Upon hearing these words, Ling Chen’s eyes slightly narrowed. Considering the strength of the Blood Refining Sect, its Sect Leader, likely the strongest member, probably couldn’t even compare to Xie Zhiqiu in combat prowess. So, how could he have the audacity to claim he could ensure Ling Chen wouldn’t leave alive? There had to be some kind of hidden agenda.

Under the escort of the Refining Blood Sect disciples, the group left the small city, heading south on horseback, eventually arriving in a misty forest.

Fifty miles from Yellow Earth City lay Hidden Mist Lake, perpetually shrouded in fog. Visibility was limited to thirty meters, and often, boatmen would get lost on the lake, their journeys ending as floating corpses.

It was said that the Blood Refining Sect was situated on the opposite bank of Hidden Mist Lake. Only the boats of the Blood Refining Sect could navigate through the mist to reach their destination. This was why Ling Chen had decided against a reckless assault, opting for a more strategic approach.

Upon reaching the lakeshore, Han Tong took out a signal firework and pulled the trigger.

WHOOSH!

A streak of fire shot into the sky, its light radiating outwards.

Shortly after, the sound of water was heard, and a medium-sized boat approached.

The man rowing the boat was lean and middle-aged. After a sweeping glance at the group, he smiled, revealing chillingly white teeth. ”Hall Master Han, it seems you’ve had quite a harvest today.”

”Less idle talk, set sail!” Han Tong commanded coldly.

The boatman dared not delay. After everyone boarded, he immediately started towards the opposite bank.

The air above the lake was permeated with a thin layer of mist, restricting visibility to less than ten meters.

The water currents here were very peculiar. At times, mysterious whirlpools would form, altering the boat’s course. Probably only those familiar with Hidden Mist Lake could navigate it without getting lost.

The place was shrouded in an eerie atmosphere, with a cold chill rising from the lake’s surface.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a booming sound, like a war drum, echoed from the distant water.

The drumming continued, growing louder and louder, the immense sound causing the entire surface of the lake to churn violently.

Moments later, a large boat, over thirty meters long, approached at high speed, kicking up waves tens of meters high and producing a CRASHING sound.

On the large boat stood warriors clad in beast-skin trousers, all radiating vigor; they were clearly no ordinary martial artists. With black long spears in their hands and gazes as sharp as swords, they seemed immeasurably more powerful than the rabble of the Blood Refining Sect.

Ling Chen’s gaze fell upon the large boat. A blood-colored beast flag fluttered there. The emblem was unmistakably that of the Myriad Beasts Sect.

”Why would people from the Myriad Beasts Sect appear here, and in such large numbers?” Yao Yingying stared at the large boat before them, somewhat astonished.

”Hehe, you wouldn’t understand. The Myriad Beasts Sect and us are brothers. Our two Sects have joined forces to undertake a major venture...” a Refining Blood Sect disciple chuckled sinisterly.

”Shut up!” Han Tong slapped the disciple, sending him flying, and glared at him fiercely. ”Who told you to blab?”

The disciple, having lost two teeth from the slap and nearly been knocked off the boat, hastily scrambled up, begging for mercy.

”If it weren’t for the fact that these two are not long for this world, I would have surely killed you,” Han Tong said coldly. ”With such a loose tongue, if you ruin the Sect’s important affairs, is that a responsibility your worthless head can bear?”

”I didn’t expect the Blood Refining Sect to be colluding with the Myriad Beasts Sect, these damn dogs,” Yao Yingying gritted her silver teeth.

I’m quite curious what they are conspiring about, Ling Chen’s mind also stirred. The Myriad Beasts Sect is the long-standing second-in-command of the Demon Way. It seems they aren’t content either, conspiring with this Blood Refining Sect on some unknown plot here.

Approximately the time it takes for an incense stick to burn later, the small boat reached the shore. After disembarking, the group swiftly arrived before a complex of buildings.

This island was surrounded on all sides by sheer cliffs, up to a hundred meters high, and further protected by array formations. Ordinary people could not possibly sneak in or out; the only access was a narrow path carved out on the island’s southern side.

From the large boat, Ling Chen could see many Myriad Beasts Sect disciples escorting batches of Blood Slaves from the vessel into the Blood Refining Sect’s grounds.

”Hurry up, or I’ll whip you to death!” a black-robed warrior, holding a long whip made of beast skin, yelled harshly.

CRACK!

The whip lashed out, striking a muscular Blood Slave, tearing his back open and drawing copious amounts of blood.

A young man in a fur coat walked down from the large boat’s deck, a wicked grin on his face. ”That Blood Slave is a Ninth-level Martial Master; he’s very useful. Whip him sparingly. If you beat him to death, you’ll take his place.”

”Your subordinate understands,” the black-robed warrior immediately knelt, cold sweat drenching his body in fright.

The man before him was Xuan Mang Sect, a top expert of the Myriad Beasts Sect, whose cultivation had reached the Great Master Ninth Level. Across the entire Demon Way, he was undoubtedly a top-tier figure. A single word from him could condemn a minor disciple of the Myriad Beasts Sect, like himself, to a graveless death.

Xuan Mang Sect was over forty years old, but due to his practice of consuming snake blood, he appeared very young, like a man not yet thirty.

His eyes moved from the black-robed warrior, scanned the surroundings, and then settled on Ling Chen’s group.

”Hall Master Han!” Xuan Mang Sect moved, appearing before Han Tong in an instant.

”So it is Lord Xuan Mang Sect.” Han Tong immediately saluted respectfully, but inwardly he was deeply displeased. This fellow, approaching at such a time, is probably up to no good.

”Hall Master Han, quite a harvest,” Xuan Mang Sect said, his face wreathed in smiles. Then, his gaze shifted to Ling Chen and Yao Yingying, and his eyes lit up. ”And who might these two be?”

”They are disciples of the Saint Witch Religion, probably spies sent by their sect. I captured them and was just about to escort them to the dungeon and then report to the Sect Leader,” Han Tong said, smiling faintly.

Xuan Mang Sect’s eyes fixed on Ling Chen and Yao Yingying. ”These two, so young and already at the Grand Master Realm. They could be immensely useful to our plans. Hall Master Han, you’ve made a great contribution this time. To prevent any mishaps, I shall personally escort them.”

”That won’t do.” Han Tong shook his head, a dark glint in his eyes. ”I appreciate Lord Xuan Mang Sect’s kind intentions. However, I captured these two with great difficulty. Naturally, I should be the one to escort them.”

”Hehe, I was merely joking,” Xuan Mang Sect chuckled. ”How about this: I’ll have two of my disciples accompany you to escort these two, just to prevent any accidents.”

With a wave of Xuan Mang Sect’s hand, two young, powerful disciples from the Myriad Beasts Sect stepped forward, presenting themselves to Han Tong.

This old fox, Han Tong’s heart sank. Xuan Mang Sect isn’t offering help; he’s trying to monitor me! He’s afraid I’ll secretly keep Ling Chen and Yao Yingying to drain their blood for my own cultivation, so he’s sending his disciples to watch me.
