Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 462: Chapter 461 Blood Refining Sect_1

”The Bottomless Demon Abyss is a Land of Great Evil from prehistoric times, and within it simmered a horrifying demonic baleful aura. I presume ordinary people cannot set foot in it.”

Ling Chen could already sense a monstrous baleful aura from afar. It was as if an ancient Demon God dwelt within the Bottomless Demon Abyss. This aura exuded a presence that made his scalp tingle.

”That’s correct. The Bottomless Demon Abyss is undoubtedly perilous. Even Top Sky Apex Strong don’t dare venture far into it. However, with the Demon Array Seal established by the combined power of numerous warriors from the Saint Witch Religion, plus the fact that you’ll only be operating in the outer areas of the Demon Abyss, you shouldn’t be in any danger.”

Liu Xiling shook her head.

”The demonic energy within has an excellent tempering effect on both the body and True Qi. Entering it would be immensely beneficial for increasing your strength.”

”Then it seems I must venture inside.”

A gleam of anticipation flashed in Ling Chen’s eyes. Since other Demonic Path Disciples could enter it for cultivation, there was no reason he wouldn’t be able to withstand it.

This Land of Great Evil, after being developed and utilized, had become a place for cultivation. Ling Chen chuckled to himself. He, too, was now considered a formidable figure in the Demon Way. Theoretically, such a treacherous land shouldn’t pose any threat to him.

”Chen’er, over these years, you’ve indeed grown remarkably. I can see many good qualities in you, similar to Tianyu’s. However, you also exhibit very obvious flaws.”

Liu Xiling looked at Ling Chen and stated her assessment matter-of-factly.

”First, you lack decisiveness. At critical moments, you sometimes waver and find it hard to make a decision. Second, you lack leadership qualities and are not composed enough. These aspects all require tempering through experience.”

With that said, Liu Xiling flipped her jade-like hand, and a scroll appeared in it, which she handed to Ling Chen.

”I have a mission for you now. Consider it a trial for you.”

Taking the scroll, Ling Chen’s expression turned serious. A mission personally given to him by Liu Xiling was unlikely to be simple.

”The entire Demon Way has more than forty major and minor sects. Among them, some have always been insubordinate, feigning compliance while acting in defiance, and even thinking of betraying the Holy Church.”

Liu Xiling gestured for Ling Chen to open the scroll. ”Inside is information on one such Demonic Sect, called the Blood Refining Sect. This sect cultivates by consuming human blood, an incomparably evil practice. Your task is to go and exterminate them, which can be considered a way to bring blessings to the common people of the region.”

”Understood.”

Ling Chen opened the scroll and glanced at it before putting it away. Even Demonic Sects mostly had their own principles and wouldn’t easily slaughter commoners. A sect that cultivated by consuming human blood was one that even the Demon Way could not tolerate.

”The Blood Refining Sect is located in the southeastern part of Earth Country. Before you, several disciples from the Saintess Hall have already gone to investigate the Blood Refining Sect, but they all lost contact. You need to find them. As for how to destroy this Blood Refining Sect, that will depend on your own abilities.”

Liu Xiling remarked nonchalantly.

The implication was clear: Ling Chen would have no reinforcements. He had to go alone to destroy a Demonic Sect. For an ordinary person, this would undoubtedly be a fool’s errand.

Ling Chen knew the difficulty was immense, but since Liu Xiling had arranged it this way, it was clearly to train him. Would his own mother harm him? The greater the difficulty this time, the greater the challenge. Moreover, brute strength wouldn’t suffice; he would have to use his intellect. This mission was undoubtedly a significant challenge.

”Prepare yourself. Depart tomorrow,” Liu Xiling said.

”Remember to return here in two months to enter the Bottomless Demon Abyss.”

”Yes.”

Ling Chen nodded and then cupped his hands towards Liu Xiling. ”Then, Mother, I shall take my leave.”

With that, Ling Chen turned and left. This experiential training was no small matter; even he needed to prepare thoroughly.

Watching Ling Chen leave, an elegant figure approached from behind Liu Xiling. It was Xia Yunxin.

”Master, that Blood Refining Sect is likely not as simple as it appears on the surface,” Xia Yunxin couldn’t help but ask. ”Isn’t sending Ling Chen alone a bit too dangerous?”

Liu Xiling’s expression remained unchanged as she said indifferently, ”If he can’t even accomplish this, how can he be worthy of his status? Since you’re worried about him, you should go too. If necessary, you can lend him a hand.” Then, she turned and walked into the main hall.

”Yes, Master.” Xia Yunxin cupped her fists, then turned and darted away.

「The following day.」

After resting for a night, Ling Chen set out.

He chose a Black Sky Wind Hawk, which could reach the Blood Refining Sect within a day.

The Blood Refining Sect was located in the southeastern part of Earth Country. After flying on the giant eagle for a full day and night, Ling Chen finally reached the region of the Blood Refining Sect.

The entire southeastern part of Earth Country was a vast expanse of yellow sand, with a dry climate, sparse vegetation, and few inhabitants.

Fortunately, Ling Chen had come prepared. Riding the Black Sky Wind Hawk, the terrain and environment posed little hindrance to him, though occasional desert storms could cause considerable trouble.

”Is that a small city up ahead?”

Ling Chen gazed down from the giant eagle. Flying at a low altitude, an ancient small city came into his view.

Directing the Skywind Hawk to dive and land on the small city’s wall, Ling Chen looked out and took in the city’s situation.

The dusky yellow small city had clearly been weathered by many sandstorms; all its buildings were covered in a thick layer of sand and dust.

The city’s streets had few pedestrians, only a few scattered individuals. This small city was probably less bustling than some prosperous small towns.

”There’s an inn over there.”

Amidst the dusky yellow surroundings, Ling Chen then spotted an inn located in the city center.

After dismissing the Skywind Hawk, Ling Chen swiftly darted towards the inn.

Entering the inn, Ling Chen ordered a pot of tea and a few small dishes, then sat down in a corner.

”Sigh, this Yellow Earth City was originally a large city, but now it has become like this. I’m afraid that after some more time, it will turn into a Ghost City.”

”What can be done? Every night, people in the city disappear inexplicably. Moreover, they are all strong young people with vigorous qi and blood.”

”Those who could move have all moved away. Only some who couldn’t afford to move are left, and they live in constant fear, just trying to survive one day at a time.”

At the table next to Ling Chen’s sat three men. These three individuals were dressed in peculiar clothing, and faint True Qi fluctuations could be detected from their bodies. Clearly, these three were all warriors, but their Cultivation was relatively weak, only around the second or third level of the Warrior realm.

Hearing this discussion, Ling Chen’s eyes lit up slightly. It seemed these disappearances were most likely related to the nearby Blood Refining Sect. The clue was here. He would stay at this inn for today and investigate further when night fell.
