Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Lu Feng Is About to Be Discharged

Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t let him down, she gave him a big thumbs up.

”Such a capable little helper.”

”Hehe.” No child can resist compliments, and Lu Chen beamed with joy.

Fu Xiaoxiao poured the little dumplings Lu Chen had rolled into the pot, added salt and sugar, and covered it with a lid.

”Mom, how much longer?” When the lid was lifted, the rich and sweet aroma of pumpkin made Lu Chen take a deep sniff, feeling even hungrier.

”Let it simmer for a while until your dumplings are cooked.” Fu Xiaoxiao scratched his nose and smiled.

Lu Chen found a small stool, obediently sat next to Fu Xiaoxiao, and eagerly watched the pot.

After ten minutes of simmering, Fu Xiaoxiao smiled and opened the lid. A sweet fragrance wafted out instantly; the pumpkin was soft and glutinous, with milky white dumplings floating in the middle, looking very appetizing.

”Is it done?” Lu Chen hugged Fu Xiaoxiao’s leg excitedly, unable to wait.

”Yes, yes, go sit outside.” Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled, took out a bowl, served Lu Chen a portion, and helped him carry it to the table in the courtyard.

Lu Chen happily swung his little legs, eagerly waiting for Fu Xiaoxiao to set down the bowl.

”Careful, it’s hot! Blow on it first before putting it in your mouth.” Fu Xiaoxiao saw him pick up the spoon and was about to eat, so she quickly advised him.

Lu Chen paused, listening to Fu Xiaoxiao’s instructions and blew on his food before eating.

”Mmm!!! Delicious!!” Once it cooled down, Lu Chen eagerly put it in his mouth, the soft and sweet texture making him hum with happiness.

”Take your time, I’ll bring some to the Shi Family.” Fu Xiaoxiao ruffled Lu Chen’s head, took a large bowl, and headed next door.

Chen Xiu saw Fu Xiaoxiao and greeted her with a smile.

”Sister, what’s up? Is there something you need help with?” Chen Xiu asked with a smile.

”Not really, I just made some pumpkin porridge today, made a bit extra, so I brought you some to try.” Fu Xiaoxiao lifted the pumpkin porridge in her hand, and Chen Xiu’s eyes lit up.

”Oh wow, sister, you’re the best! Your cooking is always so tasty.” Just smelling it, Chen Xiu knew it would be delicious, so she quickly went to the kitchen to get a big bowl, poured it in, and cleaned Fu Xiaoxiao’s bowl before returning it to her.

”I’m going to the hospital to deliver food to Lu Feng later, can you help watch the house for a bit, sister-in-law? Xiao Chen is still eating at home!” Fu Xiaoxiao asked Chen Xiu.

”This is nothing, it’s no trouble at all, you go ahead! I’ll watch over Xiao Chen for you.” Chen Xiu agreed with a smile, knowing Fu Xiaoxiao was going to the hospital to care for Lu Feng.

”Thank you!” Fu Xiaoxiao nodded, went home to pack two large bowls, and, after a moment’s thought, packed a small bowl for Lu Lin to taste as well.

”Xiao Chen, will you be okay alone at home? I’m going to bring food to your dad.” Fu Xiaoxiao explained when she came out of the kitchen and saw Lu Chen eating happily.

”I can, mom, come back soon!” Lu Chen looked at his bowl with difficulty, but could only nod obediently since he hadn’t finished eating yet!

Fu Xiaoxiao carried a basket and headed for the hospital.

On the way, she happened to meet Wang Lu and waved to him with a smile.

”Sister-in-law, did you call me?” Wang Lu saw Fu Xiaoxiao waving and quickly jogged over.

”This is some pumpkin porridge I made, have a taste, hope you don’t mind.” Fu Xiaoxiao smiled, taking out a big bowl, not knowing Wang Lu’s appetite, but assuming it was similar to Lu Feng’s.

”Thank you, sister-in-law!” Wang Lu had already smelled the aroma, and when he saw that Fu Xiaoxiao had brought him some, his eyes lit up, and he quickly accepted the pumpkin porridge.

”Enjoy it slowly! I’m off to deliver food to Lu Feng first.” Fu Xiaoxiao waved her hand, rushing to deliver to Lu Feng without delay.

After Fu Xiaoxiao left, Wang Lu was immediately surrounded by soldiers.

”How did you get sister-in-law’s favor?! Ahhh! Share it, just a bite for everyone!”

”Don’t be greedy; just a bite each!”

”No way, if you don’t share, extra training tonight!”

”...”

The soldiers glared at Wang Lu, forcing him to hand over the pumpkin porridge.

Wang Lu looked at their envy-distorted faces and smugly scooped a spoonful into his mouth.

”!” After a bite, Wang Lu’s face fell.

”What’s wrong, what’s wrong? Isn’t it good? It smells so nice...”

Seeing Wang Lu’s changed expression, everyone started to have doubts.

It smells so good, how could it turn out like that?

”I’ll take this punishment, since sister-in-law made it for me, I can’t let you guys suffer through it.” Wang Lu sighed heavily, pretending as if the pumpkin porridge was truly hard to describe in terms of taste.

Some sharp-eyed ones noticed Wang Lu clutching the bowl tightly and watched him suspiciously.

”Is it really that bad?” Seeing Wang Lu dig two more spoonfuls and eat with a pained expression, someone asked curiously.

Wang Lu didn’t forget to nod, admitting it was bad.

Those who had doubts raised an eyebrow, suddenly reached out, scooped a bit with their finger, and put it in their mouth, as the sweet taste hit them, the rich and dense pumpkin aroma instantly filled their mouth.

”This kid is lying!!!” Having tasted the sweetness, Wang Lu’s lie was instantly exposed.

Wang Lu immediately hugged the pumpkin porridge and squeezed through the crowd to escape.

”Chase him!” The group realized they’d been tricked by Wang Lu and gathered the effort to catch him.

”Hey kid, stop running!!”

”If we catch you, we’ll break your leg!”

When Fu Xiaoxiao arrived at the hospital, Lu Feng was in the middle of changing bandages. It was a familiar scene where Lu Feng only allowed the nurse to change the dressing on his hand, and when he saw Fu Xiaoxiao return, the nurse was more relieved than Lu Feng.

”Sister-in-law, the remaining wounds are on the chest and leg, I’ll leave them to you!” The nurse hurriedly handed over Lu Feng to Fu Xiaoxiao, fearful of being called back, and quickly exited the ward.

”... What did you do to the nurse? She’s in such a rush?” Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Lu Feng with amusement.

”Did everything go well?” Lu Feng couldn’t help but focus on the aroma of pumpkin wafting from the basket Fu Xiaoxiao was carrying.

”Yeah, it went quite smoothly. I made pumpkin porridge today; I wonder if you can eat sweets? Rest assured, I didn’t put much sugar in it.” Fu Xiaoxiao took out the pumpkin porridge and placed it in front of Lu Feng.

”I’m not picky.” Lu Feng nodded calmly.

Even though Lu Feng’s eating speed was the same as usual, Fu Xiaoxiao couldn’t shake the feeling that he seemed a bit happier today.

... Likes sweetness?

It was highly likely.

After eating, it was the usual bandage changing time. Fu Xiaoxiao carefully removed the gauze, noticing that the wound had already scabbed over, and Lu Feng’s body’s healing speed amazed her; she hadn’t expected the injury to nearly heal.

Lu Feng turned his head, suppressing the ripples of emotion rising within him, feigning indifference.

Fu Xiaoxiao’s earlobes were slightly reddish, but she kept a straight face as she finished changing the dressing.

”All done.”

The doctor happened to be doing rounds and seeing Fu Xiaoxiao there, smiled at her. ”You must be Mr. Lu’s partner? Hello, I’m the attending doctor, Xu Yan.”

”Hello.” Fu Xiaoxiao returned the smile.

”When can I be discharged?” Lu Feng glanced at Xu Yan and asked with a stern face.

”Technically, it’s a seven-day stay.” Xu Yan smiled slightly at Lu Feng.
