Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Educated Youth Teacher

”They’re here, they’re here.” Fu Xiaoxiao went forward to finish the porridge that had cooled down earlier, picked up her belongings, and quickly started off with the two kids.

”This way! Hurry, hurry!” Lu Lin and Lu Chen jogged ahead to lead the way, making Fu Xiaoxiao chuckle and she had to follow them in a trot as well.

”Sister-in-law, where are you all headed?” Wang Lu had come to deliver some things to Fu Xiaoxiao and seeing them rush outside, hurried to catch up and ask.

”Xiao Lu, I’m thinking of taking Xiao Lin to school, we’re going for enrollment today.” Fu Xiaoxiao stopped to explain to Wang Lu. ”What’s up? Did you need me for anything?”

”Sister-in-law, don’t run anymore, I’ll take you there! I have something to discuss with you.” Wang Lu thought for a moment and then ran towards a nearby military vehicle, gesturing for Fu Xiaoxiao to come over.

”Then let’s thank Brother Wang Lu quickly.” Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Lu Lin and Lu Chen, who both smiled at Wang Lu. ”Thank you, Brother Wang Lu.”

”No need to be polite.” Wang Lu laughed heartily.

After Fu Xiaoxiao, Lu Lin, and Lu Chen got into the vehicle, Wang Lu stepped on the accelerator and dashed out of the military base.

On the way, Fu Xiaoxiao gazed at the familiar road, and suddenly a thought emerged in her mind.

”Xiao Lu, is this village Aunt Li’s village?” Fu Xiaoxiao found the road increasingly familiar, only to see Wang Lu turn right into the village.

”Yes, Sister-in-law.” Wang Lu nodded and pointed ahead. ”Look, that’s Aunt Li’s house, and farther ahead is the village school.”

The military vehicle entered the village, it was autumn harvest time, and villagers were busy in the fields. They stopped to watch as the military vehicle entered, initially thinking a situation had arisen.

”What’s up? Another military vehicle coming?”

”Normally, not one comes all year, and now two in a month.”

”There must be trouble in the village again?”

”Probably coming for the Li Family?”

”Seems likely.”

The villagers watched as the military vehicle passed Aunt Li’s house, assuming it would stop but it continued onward.

”Where’s it headed? Going further... Is it going to the school?” The villagers mused.

The village chief stood by the field bank, also observing the military vehicle’s direction, and seeing everyone stop, he spoke somberly.

”What are you looking at? What’s it to you? Is your work finished? So idle.”

Upon hearing the village chief’s voice, the villagers quickly bowed their heads and resumed their work.

The village chief watched as the car stopped at the school gate, and Fu Xiaoxiao, Lu Lin, and Lu Chen got out, feeling relieved.

So, they came for enrollment, no issue then.

”Enrollment now? The enrollment period is long over! Zhao Qing, my class is full already, you decide to admit or not!” Upon hearing Fu Xiaoxiao wanted to enroll, one of the two young female workers in the office glanced at Fu Xiaoxiao, dissatisfied.

”Hello, enrollment is possible! Come and fill out some paperwork.” The other female worker gently gestured for Fu Xiaoxiao to come over.

Fu Xiaoxiao acknowledged her slightly, took Lu Lin and Lu Chen’s hands, and walked towards the gesturing female worker.

”Hello there, I’m Zhao Qing, and she is Xu Linlin, we both are educated youths from the village, teaching children here to read. Nice to meet you all.” Zhao Qing looked at Fu Xiaoxiao and the two kids, smiling at Lu Lin and Lu Chen.

”Hello, Mr. Zhao, I’m Fu Xiaoxiao, and these are my two kids, Lu Lin and Lu Chen.” Fu Xiaoxiao gently patted Lu Lin and Lu Chen’s shoulders.

”Hello, Teacher Zhao.” The kids had been taught by Fu Xiaoxiao to politely greet teachers.

”Which child is enrolling? Have they studied before?” Zhao Qing chuckled and asked Fu Xiaoxiao.

”It’s Lu Lin. He has learned some basics before.” Fu Xiaoxiao gently nudged Lu Lin and spoke to Zhao Qing.

”It’s two yuan per semester, and we don’t have a canteen so you’ll need to prepare his lunch. If that’s alright, please sign here.” Zhao Qing smiled and introduced to Fu Xiaoxiao.

”That’s fine.” Fu Xiaoxiao paid two yuan and successfully enrolled Lu Lin.

Zhao Qing noticed the beautiful cursive handwriting on Fu Xiaoxiao’s signature, casting her an astonished glance.

”Ring...” The start-of-class bell rang.

”Class is about to begin, just in time Lu Lin wait a moment, I’ll take you to your classroom! Mr. Fu, you can head back first.” Zhao Qing checked the time, the first morning class was about to start, organized the necessary materials, and prepared to take Lu Lin to the classroom.

As Fu Xiaoxiao held Lu Chen’s hand to leave, Lu Chen finally realized he’d be separated from his brother, holding back tears.

”Don’t cry, next year you can join classes too.” Fu Xiaoxiao gently rubbed Lu Chen’s head, comforting him.

”Really?” Lu Chen looked up at Fu Xiaoxiao, seeing her nod, he finally stopped crying.

Just as Fu Xiaoxiao led Lu Chen out of the office, Xu Linlin’s voice emerged from inside.

”I really don’t understand why you accepted this student, the class is quite chaotic already! Bringing in another one who won’t study, how will you manage?” Xu Linlin’s dissatisfied voice made Fu Xiaoxiao frown.

”All children have the right to education.” Zhao Qing retorted softly. ”Since you don’t enjoy teaching, feel free to pass on this opportunity, I’m sure others are more suited for this job.”

”Talking high and mighty, aren’t you just fighting for this job to avoid working in the fields, acting like you’re superior?” Xu Linlin sneered coldly. ”Don’t think I don’t know how you grabbed this job!”

”You...” Zhao Qing seemed agitated by Xu Linlin.

Fu Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrow, suddenly a bit regretful.

In the next moment, Xu Linlin forcefully flung open the door, still shouting, ”If you tick me off, no one will have a good time.”

”Why haven’t you left yet? Standing here trying to scare people.” Xu Linlin turned around and saw Fu Xiaoxiao still at the door, jumping back, speaking irritably.

”Does Teacher Xu live by the sea?” Fu Xiaoxiao glanced at Xu Linlin and asked casually.

”What do you mean?” Xu Linlin asked displeased.

”You’re quite nosy; do I need you to decide where I walk?” Fu Xiaoxiao said indifferently, taking Lu Chen to walk inside.

”You! Humph!” Xu Linlin stomped her foot in anger.

”Mr. Zhao, may I ask what time lunch is, so I can bring lunch over then?” Fu Xiaoxiao bypassed Xu Linlin, looking at Zhao Qing.

”We finish class at 11:40 and start again at 1:30.” Zhao Qing’s lips twitched, hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s retort to Xu Linlin.

”Thank you, I’ll leave my Lu Lin in your capable hands.” Fu Xiaoxiao then brought out a prepared gift, handing it to Zhao Qing.

”This...” Zhao Qing was momentarily stunned as Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled and continued. ”Just a little sugar, my Lu Lin has just arrived, I’m hoping the teacher can care for him a bit more; he’s a smart kid, learns quickly.”

After saying this, Fu Xiaoxiao took Lu Chen and left the school.

Lu Lin watched their departing figures, his mind filled with the phrase ’My Lu Lin’...
