Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 96: Chapter 94: Unlucky Guy

”Leveled up!”

As the notification sound rang out, a new surge of power flooded into Chu Xiu’s body, altering every cell. He could feel his muscles becoming more resilient, the beating of his heart more powerful, and even his perception ability had significantly improved!

[Name]Chu Xiu

[Tier]Warrior Tier Level 2 (198/400)

[Constitution]44.52

[Spirit]24.77

[Energy Level]72.45

[Others]Omitted

”For every level up in Warrior Tier, the attribute points increase to nearly three times that of Mortal Tier! And it’s three times that of Mortal Tier Level 9!”

Chu Xiu remembered that when he leveled up from Mortal Tier Level 1 to 2, he only gained 1.3 in constitution, and by Level 9 it was 2.9, but now this time, he gained a full 8.5!

This made Chu Xiu nod to himself in satisfaction.

”I need to hurry up and level up, boost my basic attributes, right now I am still too reliant on the Celestial Demon Hand and my artifacts.”

”Although for now, it seems like I can still handle strong enemies with ease, once those enemies keep getting stronger, my lack of basic attributes will become apparent!”

For example, the Blood Demon acolytes just now, if its constitution doubled, or it had an extra trait that increases defense, making the Bone-Piercing Nail unable to inflict enough damage, that would give Chu Xiu a headache.

Either activate the Blood Curse or drive the Ghostly Legion to the death, neither option was something he wanted to see.

With this determination, Chu Xiu stopped pondering further and checked the two artifacts that dropped. The [Lower Blood Demon’s Touch] was just the tentacle from the back of the Blood Demon acolyte, enhancing flexibility, but not much use to Chu Xiu. The other [Lower Blood Demon Blood] was even more useless, which could transform a person into a Lower Blood Demon.

This is the downside of being too strong, the dropped equipment is hard to put to use.

”Never mind, at least you still have the body and soul you can make use of.”

Chu Xiu waved his hand, capturing the Blood Demon acolyte’s soul into the Evil Soul Banner.

This monster’s soul was extremely vicious, and its panel even had a special note indicating it had the potential to evolve into a Fierce Ghost.

Chu Xiu speculated that a Fierce Ghost might be the next evolutionary stage after Evil Ghost. To have this trait, not only must it be a High Tier soul, but it also needs to be vicious enough by itself.

Like the trial Souls of the three Elder Pyromancers in the Warrior Tier trial, although they were perverse, they weren’t brutal enough, and thus didn’t have this trait.

After acquiring this trait, one could not only level up to Level 9 Fierce Ghost without obstacles, but the Life Soul needed for the upgrade would be much less than ordinary souls. While other souls, even Warrior Tier elites, could only level up to Level 6 Fierce Ghost at most.

Knowing this, Chu Xiu raised his hand and refined the flesh of the Blood Demon acolyte, then stepped out of the dilapidated building.

By this time, it was already getting late; he stopped wandering and manipulated the numerous ghosts, making his way toward the rendezvous point.

...

The sun descended along the city’s edge, its evening glow cast upon the ruined structures, as if giving a past splendor to the city.

An Awakened team cautiously moved through the rubble, appearing to have undergone specialized training, advancing in a fan-shaped formation to scout the terrain ahead, avoiding the ambush of Corpse Demons without any awareness.

This exploration team, contracted with the government, was composed of five members where professions were reasonably paired, all of whom were Awakened above Level 6, they had rendezvoused before entering the abyss, undergoing professional team training and coordination under the guidance of government officials.

Perhaps their direct combat abilities weren’t very strong, but such teams can well assist top-notch Awakened in tackling world missions, whether it’s collecting information or performing simple cleanup tasks, they can play a significant role.

Their mission this time was to recon a few marks potentially harboring Warrior Tier creatures, to verify if these entities survived the Blood Moon Ceremony.

The team had one Awakened with a Detection Skill. It would be even better if they could detect some additional skills or traits.

”The mall ahead is the destination. According to intelligence summarized by the Investigation Bureau, at least five Awakened individuals sighted High Tier entities’ traces there, it’s highly possible that Warrior Tier creatures are present!”

”Meanwhile, the density of Corpse Demons there is not low, everyone stay alert, do not startle the swarm!”

Zhou Peng warned his team members, cautiously leading them forward.

As the team leader of the exploration team, he bore the responsibility for ensuring the squad’s safety.

Just a few steps into the ruined floors, a Corpse Demon suddenly appeared in their sight, causing everyone’s expressions to tense up.

”You guys hold position, I’ll take care of it.”

Zhou Peng said, lowering his body and headed forward.

But just then, another Corpse Demon dashed out from the ruins, seemingly avoiding something, frantically sprinting toward the team!

”Huh?”

Zhou Peng sensed an unusual atmosphere, but no sooner could he figure it out, a massive figure suddenly burst out from the rubble!

The pale body, with exaggerated claws like five blades, swung casually to instantly slash the escaping Corpse Demon into pieces! Then, without stopping, it pounced on another Corpse Demon, biting its neck off in one gulp! The Corpse Demon was unable to struggle at all, collapsing without any sign of life!

This astonishing scene left the team members wide-eyed in shock!

”What is that thing? A new type of Corpse Demon?”

Zhou Peng’s face was filled with horror. Just as he was about to have the scouting profession in the team take a look, something terrifying happened!

In the distance, the ruined buildings seemed to erupt in a frenzy, accompanied by the sound of rapid footsteps, countless Corpse Demons rushed out! They were fleeing desperately as if encountering a natural enemy!

The next moment, more than a dozen ”new type Corpse Demons” charged out! They were slaughtering the fleeing Corpse Demons like elite soldiers chasing down routed troops!

There were over a hundred Corpse Demons, still a sizable horde, but now it was a completely one-sided massacre! The horde had no power to fight back, and pitch-black blood and shredded flesh were splattered everywhere!

”What the—!”

Watching the brutal Corpse Demons being one-sidedly slaughtered, all the team members were aghast with mouths agape!

”So many powerful Corpse Demons, and there are so many of them?!”

”Boss! There must be a big boss residing in that mall! Only high-tier Corpse Demons could possibly have such a terrifying guard team!”

”There’s probably a nest there!”

After analyzing all the experiences of the Awakened, members of the Investigation Bureau discovered a fact; around the high-tier Corpse Demons, there would often be a batch of enhanced and mutated Corpse Demons serving as their exclusive guards.

These guards are stronger than ordinary Corpse Demons! The ”guards” before them now were strong enough to slaughter ordinary Corpse Demons with ease, looking at their attributes, they were at least Level 7 creatures! One can hardly imagine how strong the boss they were guarding was!

”We must report immediately!”

Zhou Peng took out the radio, preparing to report the situation he discovered.

But at that moment, he suddenly noticed that after slaughtering the other Corpse Demons, those ”new type Corpse Demons” did not return to their nest like normal ”guards,” but continued to advance, starting to hunt Corpse Demons in other areas!

They were less like nest-guarding sentinels and more like a sweeping, conquering army!

As these extremely fast-moving ”new type Corpse Demons” got closer to the team’s location, Zhou Peng was shocked, abandoning the thought of reporting immediately.

”Run!”

Without any hesitation, he shouted, calling the team members to turn and flee!

But after just a few steps, Zhou Peng suddenly realized something.

On the other side of the group, not far away, there was a strange person standing right in front of the advancing new type Corpse Demons, holding a map and seemingly comparing something.

The person was entirely wrapped in a black robe adorned with gold edges and covered in ancient patterns, with their exposed hands also sheathed in gleaming white armor, appearing extremely bizarre.

And now, they stood there as if completely unaware of the approaching Corpse Demons!

”Hey! Run! Can’t you see the Corpse Demons?”

Zhou Peng shouted downward, his voice catching the person’s attention. They looked up at him, and Zhou Peng then noticed that even their face was covered with a mask, wrapped tightly.

”Freak,” Zhou Peng cursed under his breath. Just as he was about to continue warning, he suddenly saw a terrifying three-meter-tall creature emerge from behind a collapsed building behind the person!

The creature resembled the ”new type Corpse Demons” somewhat, but was stronger and more ferocious! Covered in rising bone spikes all over its body, even at a distance of several dozen meters, it sent chills down his spine! It was a genetic, instinctual warning!

Right then, the terrifying creature looked up at his direction!

This scared Zhou Peng to his core, disregarding the strange person, he turned and ran! Other team members were also horrified, following closely behind in a desperate dash.

The group kept running for miles until they were completely out of the hunting zone of those Corpse Demons, only then did they stop to catch their breath.

But even now, thinking of that suddenly appearing terrifying creature, Zhou Peng still felt a lingering fear.

The immense pressure, undoubtedly Warrior Tier! Possibly the leader of those new type Corpse Demons!

Thinking of this, Zhou Peng couldn’t help but mourn for the strange person wrapped in that black robe for one second.

”Such an unlucky fool,” he thought.

Soon, Zhou Peng picked up the radio.

This unusual major event needed to be reported to the commissioners in charge of planning and commanding actions as soon as possible!

...

On the other side, Chu Xiu looked towards the direction Zhou Peng had fled, momentarily speechless.

The ”terrifying creature” behind him approached, nuzzling his back armor like a docile puppy, then tossed the corpse of an elite Corpse Demon onto the ground, as if waiting for praise from its master.

”Good boy.”

Chu Xiu petted its head, raised his hand, and refined the corpse on the ground into the Evil Soul Banner.

The Fierce Ghost let out a satisfied moan, eagerly turning around to hunt down the next Corpse Demon.

Seeing the Fierce Ghost’s pus-covered, spike-filled back, Chu Xiu couldn’t help but sigh.

”Rather cute, isn’t it? Do they really have to be so scared?”
