Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Facing the Enemy Head-On

”You, you want to kill that monster?”

Jiang Xue widened her eyes in disbelief: ”Do you know how to resist its skill?”

”Maybe,” Chu Xiu replied ambiguously, ”Just do what you’re supposed to do.”

Then, with a wave of his large hand, an Elite Yin Ghost exuding a terrifying aura appeared behind Jiang Xue.

After instructing it to guard Jiang Xue, Chu Xiu wasted no time and moved swiftly, using Great Success Mysterious Step to charge towards the Great Elder’s location!

In the blink of an eye, Chu Xiu’s figure had already disappeared behind the high wall.

Watching him vanish, Jiang Xue was filled with worry, as the Great Elder was truly too powerful, able to fly and cast large-scale fire skills. Getting close was almost impossible, and with a physique resembling gray-white steel, his Constitution Attribute was certainly high; even up close, fighting him wouldn’t be easy.

Not to mention, how was Chu Xiu supposed to deal with the skill that caused violent death upon being pointed at?

For a moment, Jiang Xue’s heart was in turmoil, but she knew that her anxiety was useless. She could only focus on completing the tasks Chu Xiu had given her.

After forcing herself to calm down, Jiang Xue followed the Elite Yin Ghost, sprinting towards the other Trial Takers’ location.

...

In the village, Chu Xiu’s figure quickly traversed between stone-tiled houses.

A team of guards appeared in front of him, but Chu Xiu didn’t stop in the slightest, and with a wave of the Yin Wind Banner, a Yin Wind Blade with a power of 30 shot out, instantly cutting several guards in half, with their Heavy Plate Armor unable to protect them at all.

Then, several Yin Ghosts rushed forward, easily slaughtering the remaining guards.

...

Chu Xiu’s conspicuous actions quickly caught the attention of the Great Elder floating in the sky.

Compared to other Trial Takers hiding and dodging among buildings like mice, Chu Xiu was undeniably more noticeable.

And he was undoubtedly stronger.

Moreover, he did not conceal his intention at all, heading straight for the Great Elder!

This aroused suspicion in the Great Elder’s eyes.

But upon discovering Chu Xiu’s wanton slaughter of the village guards, a surge of anger appeared on his wrinkled old face.

”Courting death!”

Without any hesitation, he abandoned the Trial Taker he was pursuing and flew towards Chu Xiu’s direction.

However, he did not relax his vigilance at all. Although he did not see how the other two elders perished, it was a warning to him.

Hovering at a certain safe height in the sky, he wore a sickly smile as he caught sight of Chu Xiu.

The next moment, he stretched out his bony finger, pointing remotely at Chu Xiu’s position!

But just as he was about to lock onto Chu Xiu, the latter twisted his body mysteriously and flashed into a nearby small room.

This elicited a cold snort from the Great Elder, his eyes filled with even more ferocity.

”Escape? I want to see how long you can keep running!”

He hovered in the air, pursuing Chu Xiu, while strange syllables emitted from his mouth, summoning large numbers of guards to encircle Chu Xiu’s position.

...

”Did he take the bait?”

Chu Xiu glanced at the Great Elder above with the corner of his eye, constantly using the cover of the houses to change his position.

He continuously used Nether Demon Eyes to lock onto the Great Elder’s movements, dodging using Mist Step the moment the elder moved his finger.

However, this move was only effective at a distance and with many obstacles; if Chu Xiu wanted to get close to the Great Elder, the difficulty of dodging would increase significantly.

The more troublesome issue was that this guy was always hovering in the air. Even if Chu Xiu could forcefully charge up using Mist Step, he would lack leverage in mid-air and his flexibility would be greatly reduced.

But since he dared to come, he was naturally prepared!

Ahead, the sound of armor plates colliding rang out, and a ruthless expression flashed in his eyes as he raised his hand and nine Yin Ghosts charged out. Simultaneously, he too charged directly into the group of guards, and two Celestial Demon Arms manifested beside him!

”Bang! Bang! Bang!”

With each punch, a Plate Armor Guard was sent flying, the Celestial Demon Hand possessed a power of 20, akin to a heavily armored knight weighing over a ton charging at over 70 km per hour, the massive impact easily shattered the internal organs of each guard, causing them to spit blood and die, with those steel cans offering no protection whatsoever!

Seeing numerous guards not only failing to stop Chu Xiu but instead being killed on a large scale, the Great Elder in the sky became furious, and several steel needles within the restraint cage above his head once again pierced his skin, with some even penetrating his skull into his brain!

With a painful yet joyful moan, surging power flowed from his body, and with a wave of his hand, a rain of fire descended from the sky!

This killing move, deadly to other Trial Takers, barely posed any threat to Chu Xiu, thanks to his astounding agility, which only angered the Great Elder more, accelerating his pursuit of Chu Xiu.

The two chased and fled, eventually arriving unknowingly at the village church.

This was the third tallest building aside from the bell tower and castle; but for approaching the Great Elder, this location was less favorable than the castle and bell tower.

However, compared to the other two, the church was located in the village center, offering more buildings for cover on the way, unlike the castle and bell tower, as getting there required crossing vast open roads and fields.

”Hmph.”

Almost instantly, the Great Elder comprehended Chu Xiu’s plan, which was merely leveraging the church’s height to approach him.

Yet he instead curled his lips into a smile, pretending to be unaware while getting closer to Chu Xiu.

Because when Chu Xiu jumps high with no leverage in the air, it would be impossible for him to avoid the elder’s skill.

And if by chance Chu Xiu did manage to get close...

”Haha.”

The Great Elder’s smile widened.

Although he appeared to be a mage, in reality, he relied on the power bestowed by the Evil God, granting him a Constitution far exceeding those of the Same Tier!

With a stature of three meters, any casual punch could unleash several tons of Power! He was confident he could easily crush this nimble little mouse before him!

Following Chu Xiu’s path forward, he watched as Chu Xiu’s figure flashed into the church.

Immediately, a violent explosion sounded from inside.

This momentarily baffled the Great Elder before his eyes filled with even greater ferocity.

Inside the church, there was a statue, and from the sound, it had been destroyed by Chu Xiu.

”However, there are three statues in total, destroying one will slightly impair the rituals, but will not stop the great Az Ilituay Mgos from descending.”

Furthermore, the statue destroyed by Chu Xiu was distant from the battlefield, having absorbed little of the painful energy, as most of the brutally slain Trial Takers and sentient sacrifices were concentrated at the plaza and castle, so the Fire Worshiping Elder wasn’t especially concerned.

Even if it was destroyed, the descent progress of the ritual was scarcely reduced.

The only impact was that the array formed by the three statues was broken, no longer interconnected, unable to share energy, meaning the great Az Ilituay Mgos would require slightly more time to personally absorb after descending.

Yet this only intensified his intent to kill, for after this pursuit, he already realized Chu Xiu’s strength far exceeded that of other Trial Takers.

”I cannot let him escape! If he manages to destroy the other two statues, the ritual will fail!”

At this thought, the Great Elder hesitated no more, boldly approaching the church while continuing to rain fire down, covering the surroundings completely!

He intentionally created an opportunity—a chance for Chu Xiu to perform an assassination!

And just as he flew to within ten meters of the church top, a flash of cold light appeared, and in the next moment, the entire glass dome of the church shattered, a shadow bursting out, ascending rapidly!

”Caught the bait!”

The Fire Worshiping Great Elder joyfully extended his dark finger, aiming at Chu Xiu in mid-air!
