Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1667: Section 1668: The Path of Glory

After Onassis awakened, this sudden accident had been successfully resolved.

Although Farina and Melisa were both very curious about the method Angel used to awaken Onassis’s primary personality, such knowledge involved secretive aspects on an intellectual level. In the Wizards’ Realm, knowledge is of the utmost value, and since Angel was not willing to share, they had no reason to keep asking.

”Now that Onassis has awakened, and Trom’s injuries are nearly healed, it’s time to prepare for the final award Ceremony,” Melisa said, expressing her gratitude to Angel. She then reiterated her previous promise.

After finishing these matters, she instructed Trom and Onassis to wait at the contestants’ backstage area and went ahead to the Boundless Battle Arena to prepare for the awarding Ceremony.

The contestants’ backstage and the judging room were in the same direction, so everyone left together because it was on the way.

However, Angel, Farina, and Hydra were walking in front, while Trom and Onassis silently followed behind.

Onassis, looking at Angel’s figure in front, couldn’t help but recall the previous events.

He always felt that the wilderness where his alter ego had ventured to was not simple.

What place was that exactly? As Onassis followed the others, he walked and pondered.

While Onassis was deep in thought, a dull voice suddenly came: ”Do you regret it?”

The speaker was the three-headed Hydra, whose left and right heads turned at eerie angles as if speaking to the person behind.

Onassis was taken aback at first, not realizing that Hydra was asking him. It was not until Hydra asked a second time, ”Having won the championship of the Supernova contest, you received generous rewards, yet you made a seemingly meaningless request. Do you regret it?”

This time, Onassis understood that the question was addressed to him.

Onassis actually had no interaction with Hydra, but given Hydra’s status, it would be improper for him not to respond.

After pondering for a moment, Onassis shook his head: ”No regrets.”

Hydra: ”Why?”

”That request wasn’t meaningless. If I couldn’t suppress my inner demon at that time, my primary personality might have remained in slumber forever.”

Hydra shook its head: ”That wouldn’t have happened. Your alter ego lacks complete logical behavior, even without external assistance, it would eventually return to its place as the subordinate personality.”

A flicker of doubt rose in Onassis’s heart, why was Hydra so sure? But then he remembered the identity of the other party—one of the eighteen Observers of the Crown Star Church—and his doubt immediately dissipated.

Perhaps it was Divination that allowed him to see the future.

Onassis thought it over for a while but still shook his head: ”Even if that’s true, I still don’t regret it. I can’t predict the future, and to me, there are countless butterflies pulling on the threads of fate. I don’t know the trajectory of their flight, nor do I know if these threads of fate will collapse mid-way. Everything is unknown, rather than expecting uncontrollable variables in the future, I prefer to have a certain present.”

Hydra took a deep look at Onassis. It was merely curious about Onassis’s thoughts but didn’t expect to be lectured in return.

However, Hydra wasn’t upset. The impenetrable mystery of fate is, after all, its most charming aspect, and what Onassis said was not wrong.

”Then let me rephrase the question. If this situation hadn’t arisen, what request would you have made?”

Onassis thought deeply about this question for a long time, and not until they were nearly at the contestants’ backstage did he say, ”I probably would have wished... to discuss philosophy with someone.”

As Onassis said this, he glanced again at Angel. In his view, Angel might be able to comprehend his thoughts, and if he truly had the chance to make a request, he would like to discuss philosophy with Angel.

Angel noticed Onassis’s gaze and roughly understood his thoughts. However, even if Onassis really made such a request to him, Angel guessed that he probably would not agree.

His study of philosophy was merely superficial, casually addressing it might be inconsequential, but if he were to genuinely engage in philosophical speculation, he might not be qualified enough.

If it were Jon, he might be interested. After all, much of Angel’s understanding of philosophy originated from Jon. And Jon understood not only the philosophy of this world but also carried the profound legacy of Earth’s philosophy.

...

After returning to the judges’ chamber, when the judges collectively learned that it was Angel who had awakened the dormant primary personality for Onassis, they all looked at Angel with astonished gazes.

It seemed that Hydra’s invitation to Angel did indeed carry a deeper meaning.

The Prophecy made by Hydra had surprised them. But the fact that Angel solved what sounded to be a challenging problem with ease also showcased Angel’s depth.

Perhaps before, they had an impression that ”Angel has just entered the realm of wizards and might lack experience,” but after this, that stereotypical notion seemed to have vanished.

As time passed, Angel rested in the judges’ chamber for half an hour, and finally, the voice of the narrator sounded from the Boundless Battle Arena.

”Thank you all for waiting. After some time for Restoration, the competitors from the previous contest have all fully recovered. Now, the final segment of the New Star Contest, the award Ceremony, is about to begin.”

This time, the voice-over was still a woman’s voice, but it was low and elegant, lacking the buoyancy of before.

On hearing it, Angel immediately knew that it must be Melisa speaking.

As Melisa’s words came to an end, a thunderous cheer erupted from the Boundless Battle Arena.

Although the finals had concluded, aside from Official Wizards and those uninterested in the award ceremony, everyone else remained. This included the competitors’ fans, pure spectators, people with ulterior motives, but mostly witnesses.

In the final crowning award Ceremony, nearly all the competitors would be present.

And these competitors undoubtedly were the future trendsetters of the Southern Domain Wizard World.

They might not have the strength to be among those standing on the stage, but witnessing the rise of a Supernova era was also a proud way to participate.

At this moment, the short-range teleportation in the center of the judges’ chamber was also activated.

This signified that the judges were starting to make their entrance.

This time, the judges entered without much fanfare, and Melisa didn’t make a special introduction. Instead, when introducing the competing wizards, Melisa made the announcement with much formality. This gave the long-awaiting competitors a sense of the importance the Infinite Battle Tower placed on them.

Angel sat in a suspended seat, looking down below.

Although the finals had ended two hours ago, when Angel returned to the Boundless Battle Arena, he could still feel the warm atmosphere of the competition, showing that the audience was still excited for this final Ceremony.

After the judges entered, with a sound ringing out, a gigantic Light Screen suddenly appeared at the center of the dome, right before everyone.

Initially, the floating Light Screen displayed a line of text: ”Field Card Surface: The Frenzied Sea of Giant Trolls”

However, as soon as everyone’s attention shifted to this Light Screen, the text on it began to slowly change.

”Now proceeding with terrain selection.”

”Terrain selection complete: The Path of Glory.”
