Chapter 1602: Section 1603: Blossoming

Onassis watched as Suyatutai was carried away by the medical team. As their figures gradually disappeared into the distance, he murmured softly, “I have shown you the path ahead, can you find yourself?”

In the bustling surroundings, Onassis walked through the participantʼs passage toward the backstage. Just as he was about to leave, he turned his head, his gaze directing towards Angel.

Angel also happened to be looking at him.

As they exchanged glances, Onassis seemed to think of something, his lips barely moved, and finally, he bowed to Angel, then turned around and left.

Greya, who saw this scene, curiously asked, “He seemed to be talking to you.”

Angel nodded.

“What did he say?”

Angel pondered for a moment, then said, “Beneath the distant stars, listen to the sound of the Cloud Vine blooming.”

Greya pondered on the meaning of these words for a long time but still did not understand. Frowning, she asked, “What does that mean again, is it some philosophical principle? ”

Angel responded, “That line is from Tagraʼs ʼThe Sounds That Cannot Be Heardʼ, a phrase he wrote.”

Greya: “Tagra, is he also an Ordinary Philosopher?”

Angel shook his head: “Tagra was a Sheriff, and ʼThe Sounds That Cannot Be Heardʼ is a novel where he recorded various cases he had solved after retiring from his post.”

The more Greya heard Angelʼs explanation, the more confused she became. So, it is a detective novel, but why would Onassis quote a line from this book, and what does that line mean?

Facing Greyaʼs confusion, Angel smiled and asked, “Can you hear the sound of the Cloud Vine blooming from another side of the distant stars?”

Greya hesitated, “It depends on the Spell Technique used; if a Wizardʼs Eye was set up beforehand…”

Angel interrupted Greya, “No preset conditions, no Wizardʼs Eye, no Spell Technique.”

Greya shook her head, “Then itʼs basically impossible.”

“Then do you think, will the Cloud Vine bloom, and does it make a sound when it blooms?”

Greya: “If there is no calamity or disaster, it might bloom, and naturally, it would make a sound.”

“You havenʼt seen it yourself, why do you think it will bloom?” Angel asked again.

Greya was even more confused: “Are you influenced by Onassis? Okay, I have no intention of engaging in philosophical speculation with you, just tell me the answer directly.”

Angel shrugged, “Existence is perception. This is actually a metaphysical philosophical question.”

“At the end of ʼThe Sounds That Cannot Be Heardʼ, Tagra, in a confessional manner, narrates that he once let go a female criminal who had killed her own husband because she had been brutally abused by him for ten years,”

“This female criminalʼs favorite flowers were the Cloud Vine, a type of flower that is difficult to bloom and is said to only do so over land covered with corpses. Initially, this woman was weak, a trembling bud under her husbandʼs domination. When she endured sufferings and finally erupted, killing her husband, she transformed, and the Cloud Vine blossomed.”

“Tagra felt sympathy for this female criminal and eventually set her free. After the female criminal left the town, Tagra lamented, ʼI hope in the distant starry sky, the sound of the Cloud Vine blooming is no longer heard.ʼ”

Tagra meant he did not know if the woman would commit another crime. Since she had gone far, you would never know what might occur on her side.”

But Onassis extended this into another metaphysical philosophical question: existence is perception.

I donʼt know where you are, I only know of you. Knowing of your existence, probabilities collapse.

He perhaps compared himself to the Cloud Vine, or perhaps saw Angel as the Cloud Vine; that wasnʼt important. What matters is that in the realm of the unseen, I know you are silently blossoming.

Upon hearing this, Greya seemed to realize something: “Is he dropping a hint to you, that the next time you meet, youʼll be in for a surprise?”

Angel shook his head, “Perhaps itʼs just to indicate that in an unknown place, he will continue to blossom and grow silently, just for the next time we meet.”

Sharley listened by the side, all confused, but she just remembered what Angel had concluded: “The adult is not familiar with him, so why would he expect to meet him?”

Angel spread his hands: “I donʼt know either.”

After they left the Infinite Battle Tower, Greya was still pondering Onassis: “Did you understand him?”

Angel counter-questioned: “What about you?”

Greya neither shook her head nor nodded, only frowning and saying, “I have a feeling that he seems to be using philosophy as a weapon. But when I think about it, is that feasible? Am I missing something in my observation?”

Angel actually didnʼt understand either, but now he somewhat understood why inside the jury, the reviews of Onassis were all question marks, because Onassisʼs methods were indeed very bizarre.

However, existence is reasonable.

Maybe, he truly turned philosophy into a weapon in his hands, or even lived himself as a philosophy.

Just like when Sharley previously discussed how to defeat him, she had said to block out all his information. But can it really be completely blocked? As long as you confirm your opponent is him, he already exists there.

This also brings up a fundamentally idealistic issue.

Although they are still filled with doubts about Onassis, what can be confirmed is that Onassis is definitely the biggest dark horse in this new star competition.

Now that Jiebo has fallen mid-way, maybe Onassis really could win the championship.

Greya and Sharley went back to the manor, and Angel made another trip to Fangling Hall. This was something Shan had specifically requested upon hearing that Angel was coming to watch the matches.

When Angel arrived at Fangling Hall, he saw Allen barbequing, with Shan sitting barefoot on the treetop leisurely kicking her legs, while commanding Ganke to train Lyon… or more accurately, to beat him up.

Only after Angelʼs arrival did Ganke stop the one-sided thrashing. Angel thought Lyon would be very sad and aggrieved, but he wasnʼt. After lying on the ground for a long while, the first thing he said when he got up was: “That was awesome!”

It should be, “Getting hit was awesome.”

Angel really wanted to ask if Lyon had some special preferences, but eventually did not ask out loud.

“Where is Sinistra?” After sitting down, Angel asked.

Shan pointed inside, and Allen answered at the same time, “Sinistra is inside taking care of Kavoline.”

Angel nodded, now Fangling Hall was indeed interesting; Nausicaa was taking care of Xiliu, Sinistra was taking care of Kavoline, and Serum was licking his wounds in his room waiting for Black Classic to appear.

The only truly free ones were them.

Angel looked at Shan: “You asked me to come here right after the match, whatʼs up?”

Shan: “Itʼs something important! I wanted to know the outcome of the matches.”

Following Shanʼs explanation, Angel also understood that Xiliu had been grouped with Onassis and Suyatutai. With Xiliu advancing to the semifinals after defeating Jiebo, Nausicaa and Suyatutai, regardless of who wins or loses, Xiliuʼs next opponent would definitely be him.

Shan just wanted to know from Angel about the strength of the opponents and how Xiliu should deal with them.

Shan blinked, “After all, for this new star competition, our Barbarian Cave only has Xiliu left. She is all our hope. You also hope she can win, right?”

Angel nodded, “Naturally, I hope Xiliu can win, but… I think her chances might be slim.”

“Why?”

“Because her opponent is Onassis.”
