Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1395: Section 1396 Consent

“Speaking of which, this has something to do with you as well.”

With me?

Under Angel’s puzzled eyes, Isabella smiled slightly, “You must be familiar with the soul of the little girl at the bottom of the deep well in the graveyard outside Black Castle, right?”

Angel was momentarily stunned, “Hua Hua?”

“Yes.”

“What does this have to do with her?” Angel was still somewhat confused.

“The source of the calamity, also known as the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman, Hua Hua once saw her in the well. It’s from Hua Hua that we were able to know her appearance,” Isabella explained.

Isabella’s answer made Angel suddenly recall the record book left by Hua Que, in which most of the mysteries had been solved, except for the faceless figure that had always been a question mark.

Now, Isabella said that Hua Hua had seen her at the bottom of the well.

Could it mean that the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman was actually the faceless figure in the picture?

Thinking along these lines, many of the puzzles that had been confusing him began to make sense.

Hua Hua’s paintings were never realistic; she never formally learned to paint, doing everything according to her own understanding, her brushstrokes childish.

In Hua Hua’s perspective, the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman had a face that was half fierce and half serene, which would be difficult to capture in a painting. On top of that, it was clear from the painting that Hua Hua was very afraid of her, which is why she didn’t draw her face but rather used dark, heavy shadows to represent it.

The more Angel thought about it, the more possible it seemed, but there was still one doubt he couldn’t figure out.

“Why would she go see Hua Hua?”

There didn’t seem to be any connection between her and Hua Hua; Hua Hua hadn’t fallen into being an undead, so why did she go see Hua Hua, and for what possible reason?

And according to the record book, she had gone to the bottom of the well more than once. If she had any malice towards Hua Hua, she could have killed her from the start; yet if not out of malice, why then was Hua Hua filled with fear of her?

Isabella: “The reason is actually what I mentioned before, the concept of a special soul.”

“You mean, Hua Hua is a special soul too?” Angel seemed to realize something.

“Yes, Hua Hua is also a special soul. The source of the calamity went to the well several times to find her because she sensed Hua Hua’s special ability.” Isabella continued, “Using various languages to agitate, tempt, and guide Hua Hua’s thoughts, hoping that Hua Hua would help her.”

As Isabella spoke with a sense of sentiment, she added, “Under the temptation and coercion of the source of calamity, Hua Hua never compromised her moral integrity, largely because you built an illusionary realm for her down in the well, giving her a glimpse of hope. That’s why I said that this matter is closely related to you as well.”

Upon hearing this, Angel could even imagine the scene.

Hua Hua huddled in a trembling ball in the corner of the illusionary realm, outside, the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman used her persuasive skills, “How did you die? Don’t you remember? If you don’t want to be a coward, join me and destroy Black Castle…”

Hua Hua ultimately didn’t join King Gumman, and whether it was because of him, Angel didn’t know, but following Isabella’s words, he finally unraveled the series of facts.

After a moment of silence, Isabella continued, “That’s just the way it is, eliminating the undead benefits you, benefits Hua Hua, and benefits us here at Black Castle.”

“How will you choose?”

Angel was silent for a moment before saying, “I’d like to meet Hua Hua alone.”

Isabella nodded, “Of course, she’s also looking forward to the moment of reunion with you.”

Once Isabella agreed to his meeting with Hua Hua, Angel made up his mind, “I won’t lend out the Samsara Overture, but I can act on your wishes and eliminate the undead.”

As Isabella had mentioned earlier, getting rid of the undead wasn’t a bad thing for him, he needed to accumulate White Light Bullets, and it could also put Black Castle in his debt. It was already a win for him.

And not lending it was just Angel being cautious. Many times, what you lend doesn’t necessarily come back.

So, controlling the Samsara Overture himself was his bottom line.

Kimberly, having heard Angel’s choice, let out a sigh of relief. If he didn’t want to lend it, then so be it.

After all, it didn’t matter who controlled the Samsara Overture, as long as it could resolve the urgent crisis at Black Castle.

Isabela scoffed, “You think anyone is coveting your broken gun?”

Angel was about to retort, but before he could speak, Isabel scolded with a cold face, “Isabella, whether Black Castle can get out of this predicament still depends on the help of Samsara Overture. What do you mean by those words?”

“Even without this gun, it would just take a bit more time, but we could still expel them…” Isabella lowered her head and muttered softly.

Isabel’s expression turned even colder. If it weren’t for the fact that she had intercepted half of the Mysterious Spirit, the potential limit of the Samsara Overture would definitely be that of a Mysterious Object! Isabella’s mockery not only had no effect on Angel but made Isabel feel like she was slapping her own face.

“Enough, Isabella. I think it’s time for you to reflect for a while. Don’t continue on the wrong path. Take a good look at yourself and think about why you have always struggled to reach True Knowledge.”

Isabel’s words turned Isabella’s face to a mix of pale and flushed. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she closed it without saying a word.

“Before we clear out the undead, I have some other matters to attend to, so I will take my leave. Also, I will send someone with Hua Que later on,” Isabel nodded to Angel and stood up, directly tearing open a Space Rift to leave.

However, just as she was about to step into the dark rift, she turned back to Angel and said, “Oh, almost forgot to congratulate you.”

Congratulations? Kimberly and Isabella lifted their heads, puzzled, and looked towards Isabel, unsure what she meant by congratulations.

Angel, “Congratulations for what?”

“I heard from Rosen that you are now an official member of the Sky Mechanical City Research Institute. Isn’t that something to be congratulated on?”

After saying this, Isabel gave a faint smile and turned to leave.

But Kimberly and Isabella were shocked by her words. Angel was already an official member of the Research Institute? How could this be possible?!

It should be noted that not a single person from Black Castle had been honored in such a way, far less to extend the scope to Fairy Tale Town Wizards’ Alliance, where there was only one member of the Research Institute. That one was an over eight-hundred-year-old veteran Alchemy Master!

And Angel, probably not even thirty and not yet even an Official Wizard, was already a member of the Research Institute?

Kimberly felt like she had heard a mythological tale. Just yesterday she was thinking about giving advice to others, yet the level of others was way beyond hers!

Isabella also felt stunned; the her who had never felt regret was now unable to help but question herself: had she really gone too far?

Just because she had chased after Bogura, just because Angel had blonde hair and blue eyes, she wanted to kill him… If he had really been killed, that would have been that, but not only did she fail to kill Angel, his potential had grown stronger and stronger, even reaching dazzling heights!

Offending a powerful Alchemy Master over a “blonde hair and blue eyes” reason. If she had not offended him, would today’s matters have been resolved without troubling the Mentor, and perhaps even brought Angel over to her side?

Was it true that she should, as the Mentor had said… take a good look at herself?

While Isabella was lost in thought, Kimberly had already approached with a smile, “I didn’t expect you to be a member of the Research Institute already. I’ve heard that the Research Institute has the most advanced Mechanical Alchemy knowledge in the Southern Domain. How about we… exchange some ideas?”

Perhaps feeling the word “exchange” was a bit too cheeky, Kimberly added, “Of course, I might be a tad lacking in Alchemy, but during my time out on adventure, I also encountered some interesting knowledge, which I can share with you in exchange.”

Thinking he had nothing pressing at the moment, Angel agreed.

The exchange with Kimberly was mainly her asking questions, with Angel answering. The exchange lasted almost four hours, and it would have continued had Natasha not arrived in the midst of it.

And Natasha hadn’t come alone; she was holding the hand of another softly glowing Soul Body.

It was a little girl in a goose-yellow dress, with a small upturned nose and eyes crinkled into crescents as she smiled.

It was Hua Que.
