Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1356: Section 1357: News from a Friend

“Angel, she is…”

Angel: “She is an old friend of mine, just came to see me.”

Old friend? Lyon was still somewhat puzzled, not understanding the riddle they were playing. But seeing that Angel was not willing to talk more, he also gave up the intention to inquire further.

After that, they went to watch two more matches.

One was a clash between the elements side and the mysterious side, and the other was a slaughter among the bloodline side. These two matches were both evenly matched, and in terms of spectacles, they were clearly superior to the previous ones.

Lyon also gained some experience in battles between transcendent beings from these two matches, especially the infighting among the bloodline side, which was very beneficial to him.

The battle between the bloodline apprentices lasted a full hour. At first, Lyon thought their close combat abilities were not very impressive, but when their bloodlines underwent transmutation, he realized their close combat intensity had risen by more than a notch.

If combined with various magic tricks, elemental ruses, and spiritual power interference, the matches were even more unpredictable.

Seeing this, Lyon finally understood why Sir Sabel always lamented: having reached the peak and seen the distant view, but still unable to cross over.

This was the limit of being transcendent.

After these two exhilarating matches, they did not continue to watch any more.

For one thing, Lyon needed to calm down and organize what he had learned; for another, the time for Angel’s appointment with Glenn was fast approaching. Hence, after the matches concluded, they headed towards the Infinite Battle Tower.

The Infinite Battle Tower was actually inside the Sky Tower, but it was on the sixteenth floor. When they arrived, they already saw Glenn, wearing skeleton accessories all over, waiting at the entrance.

Glenn was leaning on a door railing, talking to a muscular, bald man.

“I can’t help you, your mentor is that crazy bear, it’s no use whoever goes, moreover, he has a rift with my mentor. If I go, I’ll definitely get beaten up… Even Lady Melisa can’t do anything, I have no reason to ask her to intervene,” Glenn was saying when he saw Angel coming over, and hurriedly pushed the bald man aside: “I have something to do first, we’ll talk about your issue later.”

“Hey, hey — If we talk about it later, I’ll have been skinned by my mentor!” The bald man originally wanted to say something more, but Glenn had already walked past him and went to a distance.

“You’ve arrived? I’ve gotten the information, let’s talk inside,” Glenn greeted them with a smile.

Angel nodded and followed Glenn into the Infinite Battle Tower. As they walked, Angel asked, “You know Bismarck?”

Bismarck was the bald man Glenn was talking to earlier.

Angel had seen Bismarck before in the Moonset seaport of Green Vine Country on Feran Continent, where he was working as an inspector for White Shell Marine Transport’s local branch.

“You know Bismarck too?” Glenn seemed surprised, and seeing Angel nod, he couldn’t help murmuring to himself in a low voice: “Eh, how come Bismarck never mentioned this to me?”

“Hmm?”

Glenn: “Nothing, I’m just a bit surprised, I didn’t expect you to know Bismarck. He’s a good friend of mine, but he got into some trouble a while ago and was sent by his mentor to White Shell Marine Transport for experience. This time, he sneaked back and had been pestering me to plead with his mentor on his behalf.”

As they talked, Glenn had already led them to a quiet reception room.

“Since you know Bismarck, should I go call him over?”

“No need, I’ve just met him once, actually not well-acquainted,” Angel said. “Let’s stick to the main topic, have you found any information on David?”

Glenn shook his head: “No, he has not yet appeared to reach the summit of Black Castle’s Sky Tower in the Underground Market… However, I heard from a friend that David’s mentor, ‘Rose Crown’ Lianna, had sent a letter earlier saying she would be attending a fragrance auction in Sky Mechanical City in the next few days. If Lianna is coming, I guess there’s a chance David might come along too.”

Not getting news about David was a bit disappointing for Angel. However, what Glenn said next made him a little excited.

“As for the other person you mentioned, ‘King of Blackberry,’ I did find her. She’s been competing in the Infinite Battle Tower these past few days, has now reached the fourth floor, and her record is very good, with no defeats so far.”

King of Blackberry was indeed Nausicaa!

Although Angel had already learned from David that Nausicaa was doing well, it was still just a message. Now that he knew she was competing in the Infinite Battle Tower showed that she had successfully integrated her bloodline, and this finally eased Angel’s mind.

Regrettably, Nausicaa was not in the Infinite Battle Tower at the moment.

The strength of the competitors in the Infinite Battle Tower was generally strong, and each match lasted a long time and was very consuming. Although the Infinite Battle Tower, like the Sky Tower, was open all day, continuous combat was not possible. Nausicaa had fought a sustained battle today, and it was said her magic power had been greatly depleted, so she had left after the match ended.

Considering Nausicaa’s speed of meditation, it would probably take until the next day to fully recover her magic power.

So, if you want to see her, today is not possible.

Angel thanked Glenn, regardless of whether Glenn had other intentions today, but at least in this matter, he had saved Angel a lot of effort.

Upon hearing the thanks, Glenn’s eyes sparkled, and he felt elated; however, he could not express his excitement and had to feign composure.

“It’s getting late, I should be going back now,” Angel said as he stood up to bid farewell to Glenn.

He had actually wanted to ask Glenn about Serum’s whereabouts. According to what David had said, Serum should definitely already be in the Sky Mechanical City by now. After thinking it over, he decided not to bother Glenn any further, reasoning that since Serum had long arrived, Nausicaa would have likely already met up with him. Maybe after seeing Nausicaa tomorrow, he would be able to locate Serum.

Glenn was taken aback and quickly asked as Angel turned to leave, “Will you participate in the Rising Star Competition?”

When Glenn previously went to the Barbarian Cave to find Angel, he actually had two intentions: one was to meet his idol, and the other was to defeat him.

This was a complex shift in feelings that had persisted till now.

Angel shook his head, “I will not.”

Disappointment flickered across Glenn’s face. He had wanted to ask why, but by the time he looked up again, Angel had vanished.

…

The estate outside the main city.

When they returned, Butler No. 1, resembling a mechanical eye, flew up to them.

“Young Master Pat, the master is waiting for you in the study,” it said.

Angel nodded, asking Butler No. 1 to lead Lyon back to the house first, while he went towards Sanders’s study.

When he arrived at the study, Sanders was standing in front of the window, his mouth moving slightly as if he was talking to someone. He gestured for Angel to sit down, and it was quite some time before Sanders finally walked over.

“Just now, I learned from the Wizard stationed here from the Barbarian Cave that Frostmoon’s people have arrived. The person leading the team is someone you should be familiar with,” Sanders said.

With a puzzled look from Angel, Sanders slowly uttered a name, “Brufen.”

“Black Sugar Servant, Brufen?” Angel asked in surprise, “I remember Mentor mentioned that he had eaten an Olaf Tentacle Crab and was afflicted with the Calamity Curse, right?”

“Indeed, but he used a certain method to remove part of the Calamity Curse, though it has not yet been fully eradicated. Now he has come to the Sky Mechanical City, also with the intention of finding a complete solution,” Sanders paused, “Apart from Brufen, Winchester has also arrived. Their purpose is not to look for you but to resolve their own issues. So, you don’t need to worry too much about Frostmoon.”

Not to mention whether Brufen and Winchester could see through Angel’s Disguise Technique, even if they really discovered it, with Angel’s current strength, he actually had no reason to fear either of them.

Moreover, since Brufen’s Calamity Curse had not been lifted and he had been unlucky for half a year already, he wasn’t in the mindset to look for Angel. This time, his primary aim was to visit the Sky Mechanical City to rid himself of his curse.

Hearing this, Angel also breathed a sigh of relief, as he currently had no desire to deal with the people from Frostmoon.

Frostmoon’s matters not being a concern, Angel set his mind at ease and asked about another matter, “Is there any response from Black Castle?”

Mentioning Black Castle, Sanders’s expression became somewhat strange.

He shook his head and said, “I’ve been to Black Castle’s outpost in the Sky Mechanical City, but what’s odd is that only Apprentices are left there; the Official Wizards were called back a long time ago. Not only that, according to these Apprentices, they have been unable to contact Black Castle for quite some time now.”

“Did something happen to Black Castle?” Angel furrowed his brows.

Sanders shook his head, “It’s hard to tell. I inquired with Rosen before, and he seems to know something, but he didn’t tell me the specifics. However, he revealed some information: a month ago, he was able to communicate with the Twilight King Isabel.”

Now that Black Castle was essentially managed by Isabel, and since she had communicated with Rosen, it indicated that Black Castle hadn’t completely cut off outside contact.

But why hadn’t they contacted the people at the outpost?

“Speaking of which, Lady Greya was only temporarily staying at Black Castle, and it was odd that, at that time, it was Black Castle’s people who came to Illusion Demon Island to look for Lady Greya,” Angel recalled Greya’s departure and also felt it was peculiar.

Something must have happened inside, but clearly, Black Castle was not willing to let the news spread, even to the point of neglecting their own outpost.

“It seems unlikely now that we will get a response from Black Castle’s outpost,” Sanders pondered for a moment, “Let’s go directly to Fairy Tale World.”

Perhaps Silent Hill, also located in the Inner World, would know something. If it comes to it, visiting directly is also an option. Although it may seem impolite, Sanders’s status generally allows such things as long as there’s a clear explanation.
