Chapter 404: Chapter 36: The Arena Battle with the Giant Wolf! _1

(Two Chapters are combined into one, 5000+ words, none less.)

Jia Yan, hearing the ref’s announcement, couldn’t wait to get away from the incessant chatter of Gutan.

Now he really wished he hadn’t learned the Auster language. But at this moment, his language proficiency was rapidly improving amidst the constant chatter of Gutan. As a result, Jia Yan heard and understood more and more, and in turn grew more annoyed.

”Your opponent has won two matches in a row, you can’t underestimate him, you must win... don’t go yet, let me finish...”

The start of the match was like a life-saving signal for Jia Yan. Hurriedly, he left Gutan and headed towards the center of the arena.

Gutan did not expect that Big Mosquito seemed to be very eager to fight. Now seeing Big Mosquito this active, though unhappy about the detached attitude he had, Gutan still felt great relief.

This unprecedented flying monster, with a combat power he truly believed in, was his only hope! The real worry for Gutan was of Jia Yan underestimating the enemy.

Little did he know, the reason Jia Yan hurried onto the stage was purely because he was irritated with his incessant chatter!

A monster that resembled a giant wolf also came out from their designated area.

As it moved, it watched Jia Yan, growling in a low voice, making it seem like they were opponents of the same level.

Perhaps the monster had misunderstood something. It thought the gap between Jia Yan’s and its abilities were not too big. That’s why it directly had a competitive intention against Jia Yan!

But in reality, the gap between the two was extremely big. This was even when Jia Yan’s energy level was not fully recovered. If his energy was restored to its previous state, he felt his powerful aura alone would incite fear and an unwillingness to fight in this Giant Wolf.

The concept of aura is not so mysterious in reality. It’s like a roe deer on Earth when it sees a lion, sometimes it would be so terrified that it becomes unable to move. This is an innate fear rooted into their bodies at work.

But the Giant Wolf at this moment begot a little bit of different circumstance— Apart from some fear for Jia Yan, a monster roughly matching its size, there was also a bit of fighting spirit!

”Roar!!!------” The Giant Wolf let out an angry roar as Jia Yan slowly walked towards the center of the battleground!

Afterward, its full coat of fur standing on end, all bristling as if it knew it was facing an extraordinarily powerful enemy, showcasing extreme wariness!

However, its opponent, the Big Mosquito standing on the stage, showed no signs of seriousness. On the contrary, it stepped into the battleground with great calm!

These battle pets possessed a certain degree of intelligence. Like the Giant Wolf in front of Jia Yan, he had heard from Gutan about its strength and background over the past few days, so he had a certain understanding of his opponent.

The opponent was a subject from a certain Life Research Organization. It was not strange for there to be such creatures. Among the other battle pets, many of them come from similar establishments. Some of the Life Research Organizations were dedicated to medical reasons, some for researching powerful battle beasts, and some were simply fulfilling unique interests or hobbies.

Among the aliens, studying such life forms was not illegal. Because all advanced alien civilizations have benefited from such research in some way. For instance, the Auster people. In the past, the Austers were just a primitive society on their home planet, dealing with birth, ageing, illness and death. But after a so-called scientific research, the whole Auster civilization was affected. As a result, not only did the Austers’ lifespan get prolonged, their intelligence was also greatly enhanced. However, it’s uncertain if they are still the same Austers as before.

Seeing Jia Yan approach with an inquisitive look on his face, a spark of mild anger appeared in the Giant Wolf’s eyes!

As a modified being with a certain degree of intelligence, it knew that the creature in front of it was looking down on it. Therefore, the wolf howled in an imposing manner, ready to pounce!

”Look at the two monsters fighting below, one is a failed experiment from a certain Life Institute, and the other is a mysterious substitute. No one knows the strength of this substitute, but judging by the performance of the Battle Wolf, it’s clear the opponent is not easy. This will definitely be a vigorous fight, everyone! Guess the outcome of the match and place your bets! Let the outcome of both sides be a part of your investment. Trust me, your judgment is not wrong! You will definitely win the reward of this battle, accumulating profits for the next, or the next-next battle.”

The commentator on the loudspeaker was urging people to place their bets, his mouth running a mile a minute. Their wages were tied to the betting funds, so they naturally wanted to encourage as many spectators as possible to place their bets!

”The more I grasp the Auster language, the more I can understand. I can already comprehend half of the host’s words!” Jia Yan listened to the host’s words, his eyes flashing with anticipation.
