Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

A gentle whiteness bloomed across the Iyr, the snow fell, like petals in the wind. The Front Iyr basked in the chill that was nightval, with cold bodies huddling cups of warmth, family huddled beside the flames, and lovers huddled beneath blankets.

As this was the Iyr, there were those who moved in other ways, for even as the snow fell, Iyrmen trained half nude within the snow, steel, mundane and magical, swiping through the air.

Chosen swung his magical blade through the air, the dance of blood of steel warming his bones, his entire body letting off wisps of vigour, fighting off the chill which threatened to invade. As he swung his blade, following his family’s way, similar to some within the Iyr, different to many within the Iyr, within Aldland, within the world. It was not the time for thinking, Chosen had thought, swinging his blade, until someone would bring him out of this stupor, for his thoughts had been too many this day, this month, this season, this year, this unfortunate time.

‘Papo, you are so handsome but you are not married?’ Jirot had asked, tilting her head.

‘I will find someone soon,’ Chosen assured.

‘It will be easy for you since you are so handsome, so wise, so strong,’ the girl assured, patting his knee. ‘You must marry quickly, and give baba a grandson.’

‘Is it my father who wishes for a child more, or you, who wishes for a cousin to spoil?’

The girl side eyed her papo, smirking slightly, sipping her tea to give her a reason not to speak, though her brother beside her snickered lightly, causing his sister to glance his way.

‘What is so funny?’

Jarot blinked. He returned back to snickering, causing his sister to snicker too, the pair bursting into a mischievous cackle.

Chosen’s blade stuttered within the air, but he continued his dance, his blade leaving a trail within the air, slicing through the snow, leaving many halves around him.

‘Papo,’ Konarot had called for him one day, reaching up to clasp his hand.

‘What is it?’

‘Daddy’s birthday, and mummy’s birthday, and papo Jurot’s birthday, and papo Tanagek’s birthday, is all the same day, so we must make a gift.’

‘It is also my birthday on that day,’ Chosen said.

Konarot blinked. ‘You are joking, papo?’

‘I am not joking, for we were born upon the same day, though I was born right before it turned upon the second, so I am slightly younger, and yet your papo, he bullies me so much.’

Konarot let go of his hand, furrowing her brows deep in thought. ‘Papo, what is your favourite fruit?’

‘I love salya the most.’

Konarot smiled, her tail swaying behind her lightly. ‘I like salya too!’

‘Is it your favourite?’

‘Mm…’ Konarot thought.

‘Peach,’ Kirot had said, causing her siblings to nod their heads.

‘You are a Rot, so I should have expected,’ Chosen teased, though he could see the way they flushed, their tails swaying wildly behind them, brushing away the snow.

Chosen’s blade cut through the snow beneath him, his entire body tensing, his eyes whitened, his entire body red hot with rage, and as he gripped his blade tighter, a warm trickle awakened him from his dance. He stared down at the crimson snow, raising his blade, noting the liquid sanguine dripping down. His eyes trailed upwards, towards the murky reflection upon the blade, noting the look within his eyes, before his eyes darted to the side, towards one of the few Iyrmen who could stand within the snow only within their rage.

Jurot’s entire body, lean as a panther, was tense, taut, and terribly red with rage. He did not move to warm himself, his rage more than enough to keep the snow at bay, even melting as the flecks kissed his skin, for he was Rot. He inhaled the crisp air, which assaulted his lungs, but he did not shudder under such an assault. He had felt the intense rage from nearby, and even heard the blade cutting through the pile of snow under his cousin’s feet, but since he hadn’t fallen into a Rage Fever, Jurot left him be.

If he had fallen into a Rage Fever, Jurot would be responsible in beating him senseless, a difficult matter, since Chosen was so skilled, and wielded a blade that was rather terrifying, although could it compare to the likes of Phantom, the blade of little Lanarot, still lent to her favourite elder brother?

He was uncertain.

Meanwhile, the little girl settled herself beside her other brother, who was currently holding a bundle of chonky clothes.

“Why are you so afraid of the snow?” Adam asked, peeking down at his little sister, the girl’s rose cheeks and nose contrasting the beautiful blue of her skin.

Amal’s ears twitched and the girl shook her head, groaning quietly as she reached for her dummy, but her brother placed a finger on it and leaned in to nuzzle her nose, allowing her a small mercy, for though he wished to bully her with the snow, how could he do so when she was so cute? Also, if he ended up betraying her heart, that fiend of an older brother, who was so wise, would be able to snatch her away, and he could not allow that.

“What do you think?” Adam asked. “What kind of magical weapon should I wield? Should I use an axe? Should I use a sword? Your nieces and nephews, they already designed one, but shouldn’t I have a new one for ever year so I can pass them down? What do you think, my chonky little Amal?’

The girl smiled, reaching up to grip onto his collar, her tiny hand almost as strong as her cousin Maygak. If the girl had gripped something, all Iyrmen must give up. It was fortunate that Jurot had the ability to put her to sleep so easily, but even then, Maygak’s grip was terrifying. The girl then grabbed at his chest, patting it gently.

“Ah, you’re right,” Adam replied, smiling warmly down towards the girl. “As long as it’s good.”

The girl squealed from within his arms, causing the half elf to pull her closer to his chest, allowing her to feel his heartbeat even through all this clothing. The half elf brushed her cheek tenderly with a gloved hand, though wrapped his cloak around the girl, providing her with greater warmth since she preferred the warmth, like her siblings, for they were Rot, and they danced to fight off the heat, while it was the fire within her blood which did the same, and it was the Divine for her elder brother who she adored the most.

“Thank you, Lanarot,” Adam finally said, flushing lightly as he peeked down at the girl beside him, who was wrapped within a blanket, and cuddled her right against her elder brother’s big, strong, powerful arm.

“You are welcome, brother,” Lanarot assured, burying her head between his bicep and tricep, wrapping an arm around his strong arm to brace herself.

“Do you know why I am thanking you?” Adam asked, leaning down to nuzzle into her hat, which fought off nightval.

“It is because I am so amazing,” the girl replied simply, a statement of fact, for why else would her brother be thanking her?

“You’re right!” Adam burst into laughter, causing the girls to glance up towards him, each smiling and laughing, the pair cuddling up against their elder brother. He wrapped an arm around Lanarot too, pulling her onto his lap, his sisters now safe within the embrace of his arms.

“Thank you, brother,” Lanarot said, hugging his neck, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek, burying her head within his neck.

“Oh? Is it because I’m amazing too?”

“No, it is because you are my brother,” Lanarot replied, pulling back slightly, reaching down to brush Amal’s cheeks. “Thank you too, Amal.”

The girl shyly melted against her brother’s chest as her elder sister thanked her, causing even the bloodthirsty Lanarot to let out a gentle sigh of satisfaction, her heart swelling with a deeper warmth.

Adam smiled, holding his sister’s closer, allowing them both to pin him beneath them. He stared up towards the sky, inhaling deeply, feeling the crisp air invade his lungs.

“Lanarot, no matter what, you can’t forget, I’m your brother, just like how Amal is your sister, and…” Adam wasn’t sure if he was allowed to say the next few words. “Of course, even if Jurot is your brother, I am your favourite brother, aren’t I?”

Lanarot glanced around to see if she could see her other brother, the girl smirking wide towards her elder brother, bursting into a cackle, causing him to laugh, causing her younger sister to laugh too.

“Lana, Amal, you don’t have to worry, because…” Adam continued to stare up towards the sky, the grey and white which brought nightval to their homes. “One day, when you step into Aldland, they’re going to bow their heads appropriately.”

Lanarot hugged her brother’s arm, allowing him to hold her, not quite understanding the pain within her brother’s heart, but what she did know was that her brother loved her, just like how she loved him too.
