Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

“The sun will fall on the twenty first, and the Clash of Red and Amber shall take place,” the Faro began, mostly for the benefit of the newcomers. “This time the Order of the Amber Blade shall send their greater warriors, and thus I have come to offer my patronage during the clash for those with such great feats who wish to fight upon the name of Arisa.”

Since the Faro had hosted them well, one by one, the warriors stood, from the mountain, the lithe panther, the handsome fellow, and the figure with the fiery beard.

“I shall bring great glory, Faro, you do not have to worry!” the Bear of the Mountains said, flexing his powerful muscles, for out of the figures here, he was the strongest, as a Grandmaster.

“It is my honour,” the Silver Panther said, bowing her head lightly.

“Since the Faro has requested so, I do not have the shame to refuse,” the Roaming Steel Sword said.

“I only hope I do not shame myself,” the Heart Sword said, certain he could defeat any within his age range.

“Ah, are we also allowed to participate?” a fool asked, noting his companions glancing his way.

“If you are willing,” the Faro replied, understanding the half elf didn’t realise what she was requesting.

“Ah, well…” the troublesome fellow began, considering her words. A thought came to the half elf’s mind, but then again, she was the Faro. “Are we allowed to win?”

“You may, for the exhibition is not for those with the greater warriors, but for the delight of the people, and to make a name for oneself within Arisa, and beyond. During this time, with the uncertainty of the Reavers, I hope the great warriors here will assist in easing the people’s worries.”

“Bael, do you want to fight?” Adam asked.

“No,” Bael replied, inhaling sharply, before returning back to his slumber.

“Are you alright?” Adam whispered.

“I’m sleepy.”

“Jurot, Kitool, Chosen, Tanagek, do any of you want to fight, since it’s a chance to make a name for yourself, and of course, to delight the people of Arisa,” Adam half teased, the half elf smiling wide.

“You should fight in our stead,” Chosen said, dismissing the air with his hand, deciding for the rest of his companions.

“Me?”

“It would be best.”

“Bael and an Iyrman refusing to fight? What has the world come to?” Adam joked, too dense to realise why Chosen had asked him to fight, though his companions laughed, even Taygak, who smiled wide. “Vasera, Rook?”

“You should fight, Executive,” Vasera replied.

“Taygak, what about you?”

“…” Taygak looked to Chosen, who nodded. “Okay.”

“Alright, then I suppose Taygak and I will have to work hard for your sake, Faro, and for the sake of the fine Arisian people.”

“To hear such confidence from a youth, I suppose I can only say I am glad to hear it,” the Roaming Steel Sword said. “Though, you should be careful, for speaking such great words without the strength to back it, will only lead you to looking foolish.”

“At the very least, I’m stronger than you,” Adam said, taking the fellow’s bait, glancing aside towards the pair, wondering if he knew them.

“I would like to see it, if you are willing,” the Roaming Steel Sword said, beginning to stand, a wide smile encroaching across his lips. “Your Grace, may we?”

“If the Mo wishes to consent, I see no reason to refuse, though it is a friendly spar, and I shall expect no death, Mo.”

Adam stood, rubbing his neck lightly, stretching it from side to side, while the Roaming Steel Sword smiled even wider, eager to test the half elf. After all, once he beat the half elf, he would earn that sweet bounty, a hundred gold from the Setting Sun.

“I am not wearing my armour, so do not suggest I am oppressing you,” Roaming Steel Sword said, reaching for his blade, drawing it, the blade which held a slide towards the tip, each end slightly hooked.

“I am not wearing my armour, and I will not use my weapon, so do not suggest I am oppressing you,” Adam replied, flexing his fists, before relaxing them, holding them before him as though he were ready to box, his body half twisted to the side.

“That’s how it should be!” the Bear of the Mountains said, for he fought without armour, and often enjoyed breaking people with his fists. A man that young, with that much courage, even when he lost, who could dare to disrespect someone with such decency?

The Silver Panther eyed up the half elf silently, uncertain where his confidence came from, though noting the amulet, and that he was surrounded by Iyrmen, perhaps it was the case that…

‘Did he say he was related to the Butcher?’

Heart Sword reached up towards his chin, rubbing it gently, glancing aside towards the merchant beside him, whose eyes were glued to the half elf. “What do you see?”

“He is not so simple,” the young man said, for though he was also a teen, and understood the confidence of a boy, the way the half elf stood, so relaxed, it was not like the swagger of a youngster, but someone greater.

The Roaming Steel sword stepped forward, his blade almost whipping towards the air as he threatening to pierce the half elf’s skin, but as he aimed his sword, he leapt backwards, holding up his sword to defend himself, and even as the half elf struck the flat of his blade, the energy of his Divine Smite flowed through the blade, forcing the Roaming Steel Sword further back. His entire body ached, the half elf suspiciously stronger than he possibly could have expected, and he realised why the half elf fought with his fists, for if he was an Oathsworn, this had become far more difficult.

“Ah, would you like to step back?” Adam teased, smiling innocently, since his opponent definitely understood the gap between themselves.

Roaming Steel Sword inhaled deeply, stepping forward, still ready to trade blows.

The Roaming Steel Sword managed to cut against Adam’s shoulder, almost drawing blood, while the half elf stepped forward, landing a heavy blow against his gut, causing him to fall back. Before the half elf could tease him, the Roaming Steel Sword stepped forward again, his blade whipping through the air.

Victory!

A simple one two from the half elf knocked the Roaming Steel Sword back, the man letting out a cough, barely able to keep the ringing from deafening him. The magic invaded through his body, forcing him to his knees, a hand upon the earth to stop him from falling, his blade still tightly gripped in his hand, for he was a warrior.

‘What are you doing?’ the merchant thought, but his keen eyes burned the reality of the situation over his heart, his mind focusing on trying to understand.

The Bear of the Mountains raised his brows in surprised, the other figures around also now suddenly interested in the half elf, who seemed to violently place the Roaming Steel Sword upon his knees, even without a weapon.

“I hope it was a good showing for you, Lady Faro,” Adam said, smiling innocently.

“It was truly eye opening,” the woman replied, understanding just how this half elf had managed to defeat such great foes, for he was certainly a Grandmaster, perhaps able to clash against…

Lady al-Yasin recalled the rumours, and the words the half elf had spoken to her.

“I have a small request to make,” the half elf began, and instead of bullying everyone around, he decided he should be polite. “You see, my daughter is rather upset at me, since I wasn’t able to bring her with me on this trip, and, well, if I don’t go back with a great gift, I think she might stop talking to me. If I can, and if I can ask the great warriors here for their understanding, I would like to face against whoever is the strongest during the exhibition.”

“Are you confident you can win?” the Bear of the Mountains asked.

“I suppose, if the Fariq themselves doesn’t step forward, I think I should be fine?”

Since the half elf had given his reasoning, there were few who could ask him to step back, and since he seemed so confident, they decided against speaking up.

Adam might be related to the Mad Dog and the Butcher, but we all know who the scariest figure is.
