Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

Zabir’s jaw remained dislodged, for though the Full Moon’s blade had almost threatened to gouge out the young man’s eyes, he hadn’t expected how the half elf counter attacked.

The unconscious body of the Full Moon skid to a halt before the Mother Crescent’s feet. Her silver eyes remained completely fixated on the heavily armoured woman before her, who was certainly a Paragon, and who had certainly been beaten in the span of a single round.

“Yo, New Moon,” called the voice, drawing the attention towards him once the thunder stopped rumbling. He rested Thunder’s Triumph against his shoulder, and as he did, he beckoned the woman with his whole hand, ready to take on their second Paragon after defeating their first with such ease. “I don’t have all night.”

“Adam!” Dunes exclaimed, finally unable to contain his frustrations, though he stopped before he ended up offending the Order. He reached up to his pounding head, understanding the Iyrmen would step in if things escalated too much. “Show some respect!”

“Respect? Are you out of your damn mind?” Adam asked, pulling up his visor, glaring at Dunes with the same level of frustration as the Mo. “I don’t mind if they disrespect me, but if you’re going to take a shot at the Kan family, at least be better than a Paragon! What? You think because Aswadasad treats you like dirt, you can take it out on my family? Who gave you the courage? Who gave you the audacity? Who gave you the gall to speak to my family in that manner in front of me?”

Dunes covered his eyes, hearing the specific words Adam had used in order to shame the Order. ‘You really are trying to get us killed!’

“You have forgotten,” the half elf continued, gently tapping the blade against his shoulder. “I didn’t go around killing a Vice Commander and then the Gra-,”

“Adam,” Kitool called, stopping the half elf in his tracks, the half elf no longer having the courage to speak down to the Order. “I hope the Order of Five Moons is willing to accept their defeat.”

The New Moon stepped forward, reaching for her blade, but she stopped as Mother Crescent held up a hand, her eyes firmly glued to the half elf. She could not see his face, nor the purple of his armour, but the silhouette of danger, of death, which seemed to swallow the sky. Her eyes remained completely fixated on the half elf, and her silence, which lasted a moment for all others, lasted an eternity for her. Unable to find her voice, she bowed her head, and with that, the young man retreated, letting out a huff, his eyes avoiding the looks of the others, though he caught Taygak’s gaze, which gleamed so brightly, radiant rays of hope.

John’s eyes fell to Zabir’s, who had seen the half elf go blow for blow with Ashuk, and yet, his jaw was still dislodged, his eyes wide, the old man almost forgetting the ability to breathe. Even Yasha held a similar look, confirming just whose granddaughter she was, and as John eyed up the half elf who retreated to one side, the realisation dawned upon him.

‘Oh. The Executive is strong.’

“It is true they picked a fight with the Kan family, but you cannot allow yourself to be provoked so easily!” Dunes admonished, still holding his sweaty forehead, which throbbed as though a hundred tiny hammers pounded his head.

“Well then, they should just aim for me! Even if they combined like High Garden, where do they get the-,”

“I know, Adam, I know, but of all the Orders to misbehave, this is the one you cannot!”

“What do you mean?”

“It was my mistake, since it was so obvious, but I forgot that you…” Dunes rubbed his eyes, shaking his head, for he had also forgotten to tell Adam during their break due to falling into the half elf’s pace. “This particular Order has been treated disrespectfully by all of Aswadasad, that much is certain, but… that is nothing compared to what the elves, more… masculine elves, like you, have treated their ancestors.”

“Oh,” Adam said, furrowing his brows, only then realising the gravity of the Brother’s words. “Oooh. Right. If I had known that I might have… I probably would have shown a lot more mercy. My bad.”

“It was my mistake.”

“It was mine too,” Jurot said, realising what he had forgotten this entire time, his entire body tensing with guilt. “I did not catch the thought.”

“When you say that… the others treated them badly. How badly are we talking?”

“If they had done even half as poorly to your children, to your daughters, you would erase them from history,” Dunes said, and with his words, Jurot nodded his head.

“Shit, my bad.”

“Shit?” Kizwolima asked from beside him.

“Sit,” Adam corrected.

“Sit.”

“Sit means, like this, you see? We’re sitting down, that’s what sit means.”

“Oh! I like to sit!” the girl said, before looking at the other two. “Sit! Sitting!”

Dunes smiled as the girl pointed at him, nodding his head, and the girl beamed up towards the half elf. ‘If he was half as good at reading the situation as he was with children, I would not have to worry.’

‘Damn it!’ Adam crossed his arms, sitting to one side. ‘I’m not going to cause any trouble until Kitool returns.’

While the group remained to one side, Mother Crescent hosted the Iyrman for the second time that day, pouring tea for the young woman.

“I apologise on behalf of Adam, for I am certain we did not inform him of your history,” Kitool said, having thought she had, or that Jurot had, or that Dunes had, and yet somehow each of them had missed it? She assumed it was because the half elf was keeping Kizwolima company so they had missed their chance.

“I will make sure none will take it to heart, for I am certain the Iyr would not treat us so poorly, and I hope you can forgive ours for the return of our blade.”

“I have no doubt one day the blade will return, but now is not that time,” Kitool replied, for she was certain the blade was currently in use by the Iyr, even if it was not in the hands of the Kan family.

“How was he able to…” Mother Crescent began, but she did not wish to finish the sentence.

“Adam’s abilities are great, but the blade he wielded, in the hands of an Oathsworn, is terrifying,” Kitool said, though she was certain the half elf still had some charges remaining within Thunder’s Triumph, otherwise he wouldn’t have called for the New Moon to step forward. Had she known the half elf had every one of those charges…

Mother Crescent wondered just what else the young lady was thinking about, but understood that was a dangerous thought. It had been so long ago, but the Iyr had assisted them in forming their Order, minor assistance, but enough to state they had a connection. She was glad the Iyr had brought along Taygak, otherwise this was a situation that may have escalated out of her control.

“I hope that the United Kindom and the Order of the Five Moons may continue to do business, but if you trouble our Executives, or those related to the Directors of our business, it will be difficult to continue showing you such favour,” Kitool warned.

“I understand. The deal we previously agreed to…”

“We will honour it, for we are not blameless in this matter, but it would be good if such misunderstandings do not arise from both sides any more,” Kitool stated firmly.

“I will inform our members,” Mother Crescent promised, glad that the business would continue to honour their agreed upon deal, for where else could they procure such fine weapons, especially at such a price, and the Iyrman had promised such a fine gift too.

Once Kitool returned to the group, she found Adam sitting to one side, his arms crossed, sans Kizwolima, who was most likely with Bael.

“What are you doing?” Kitool asked.

“I was waiting for you.”

“Why?”

“Did they bully you?”

“They could not,” Kitool replied simply.

“That’s right! They can’t bully you either! Taygak, do you see?”

“Taygak see,” Taygak confirmed, sitting tall and proud beside the half elf.

Adam continued to fume by himself, the young man ready to explode again. “Taygak, no matter what! As long as I am alive, no one can bully you! No one can bully any of my family! Not the Rot, not the Gaks, not the Ools, not the Kans, not the Jins, not the Geks, although, just a little for the Geks since Tanagek always glares at me, but not the Sen, and not anyone else!”

“What of the Fev?” Jurot asked, ready to bully the half elf.

“I already said the Fev, you just didn’t hear it,” the half elf replied, flushing, but he remained with his arms crossed.

Jurot wondered again if perhaps his grandfather had slept with a fae woman.

Jirot, do not worry, not even two Paragons can defeat your father!
