Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 46: Shadow Hawks Barrel Roll Mid-Air

Time passed by quickly as the scenery quickly passed by below, Qing Yi had somewhat recovered from earlier and was now excitedly looking at the scenery below as the shadow hawk flew over it.

Looking down, the people looked like small ants and the villages and cities all looked like small ant colonies. Qing Yi was quite excited by this new view and observed everything she could.

Xuan Hao also glanced down below and looked at the small people passing by, but due to him having reached the nascent soul realm, his eyesight was relatively better than Qing Yi and he had no problem observing the people down below clearly.

The shadow hawk did not bother looking down below at the humans and instead just looked straight ahead as it flew as quickly as possible, most likely wanting to get back home to his servants as soon as possible…

Lazing around at the Flying Sword Sects expense was the best way to live, the shadow hawk had already lost his drive to improve further in cultivation and was just lazing around all day.

The only thing that the shadow hawk looked forward to at the moment was when it grew too old to fly around any longer. At that point, it would just get to laze around without doing anything like flying around the elders or disciples of the Flying Sword Sect. Truly the pinnacle of life!

The shadow hawk had always been envious when it watched the older flying demon beasts get to laze around all day while being fed by their human servants. Luckily, it would soon be old enough to join them and laugh at the young demon beasts who still had to fly around!

It still remembered its time before entering the Flying Sword Sect, when it had to hunt food itself and fight with other demon beasts, it even had live in a bad environment without an array formation to regulate to temperature! Terribly hard times, even though the Flying Sword Sect would allow the older demon beast to return to the wild as they grew weak, nobody ever did…

Honestly, the shadow hawk had no idea why the Flying Sword Sect even asked them whether they would want to return to the wild when they grew old and weak.

Wouldnʼt they just get killed and eaten by another demon beast at that point!?

Screech!

Letting out a screech, the shadow hawk suddenly dived down on a passing bird a gulped it up in one mouthful.

Qing Yi and Xuan Hao who barely managed to hold on, due to the sudden dive of the shadow hawk were both surprised.

”M-master, this shadow hawk does not seem to care that we are on its back…” Qing Yi gripped tightly onto the feathers of the shadow hawk as she looked frightened at the shadow hawk below her.

”Indeed… It seems that the beast tamers are not that great at taming the demon beasts… I almost feel like the demon beasts are the ones doing the taming…” Looking at the shadow hawk, Xuan Hao released a bit of his nascent soul aura in a bit to intimidate the shadow hawk.

SCREECH!

Sadly, the shadow hawk did not care about the aura of a nascent soul cultivator. Over the years, it had transported many nascent soul cultivators, why would it be afraid of one?

So, before Xuan Hao or Qing Yi managed to react, the shadow hawk did a barrel roll mid air causing both of them to fall off its back.

”…”

”Aaaah!” Qing Yi let out a scream of fear as she was falling from what was at least a few thousand meters up in the sky, while Xuan Hao just looked annoyingly at the shadow hawk as it turned around and flew back towards the Flying Sword Sect. The speed of the shadow hawk was faster than even he could muster with his flying sword.

”Hah…” Watching the shadow hawk disappear in the distance, Xuan Hao did not delay any longer and quickly grabbed onto the still screaming Qing Yi and brought his sword out of the scabbard.

Focusing his sword qi into the sword, Xuan Hao slowly came to a stop a few hundred meters in the air.

Qing Yi was still being carried by Xuan Hao and had already stopped screaming as she curiously looked down at the sword floating beneath her masterʼs feet.

”Just stand in front of me, there should be enough space.” Listing to her masterʼs instructions, Qing Yi quickly stood down on the sword wobbling slightly from side to side while trying to balance herself on the sword.

”Just hold onto me if you need to…” Grabbing hold of Qing Yi just as she was about to fall off the sword, Xuan Hao told her in a slightly commanding tone.

”…” Nodding her head in response, Qing Yi shyly grasped the hem of Xuan Haoʼs robe. Acting very much like a shy little girl.

”When we get back to the sect, we will have to pay that damnable bird a visit… I think grilled shadow hawk would taste great; we can even get Zhi Ruo to prepare it for us!” Not minding Qing Yiʼs behaviour, Xuan Hao instead focused on the culprit of their situation, already having an idea about how to deal with the bird when they returned.

…

Over the next hour, Qing Yi slowly got used to riding the flying sword with Xuan Hao and had already returned to observing the scenery passing by below.

This time around, they only flew a few hundred meters above the ground. Allowing Qing Yi to easily see the people and animals below. Qing Yi would laugh a bit whenever she saw people looking up in the sky and point towards them with a shocked look on their face.

This was not without cause, as most people thought only people at the domain lord realm could fly without a demon beast.

The journey had mostly recovered the former calm that the shadow hawk disturbed by throwing them off earlier and the two of them had finally made it to one of the biggest landmarks in the north of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.

The Red Dust Desert. Not really fitting for it to be one of landmarks for the north of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom… Sadly the Heavenly Sky Kingdom was located in the southern part of the Ewaria Continent, where snow was extremely rare even in the winter.
