Chapter 824: Chapter 362 Memory Feather Gently Falls_3

It’s about time to visit my old school.

First Middle School is located in the northeast corner of the county town, part of the new area focused on by the government for development.

Seven years ago, the surroundings were still somewhat desolate, but now neighborhoods, businesses have sprouted up, bustling with activity.

He parked his car in a spot by the roadside.

Tang Song walked along the east-west street towards the South Gate of First Middle School.

The old shops that were etched in memory along the roadside had all disappeared.

Since graduating from high school, he hadn’t visited this place.

For instance, having shared meals of crossing-the-bridge noodles, street food stalls, grilled meat rice with Liu Qingning for three years...

The whole street had even been rebuilt.

”Hello, sir.” Tang Song knocked on the door of the guardroom and said softly, ”I am a former graduate of First Middle School, wanting to visit my alma mater. Is it possible?”

As he spoke, he took out a pack of cigarettes and handed it over.

The guard master looked up and studied him carefully, ”Did you bring your ID? Which batch were you in?”

”I brought it.” Tang Song placed his ID on the table, ”Graduated in 2016, Class 3, my homeroom teacher was Li Gaisu.”

”Oh~ Teacher Li!” The guard master smiled as he accepted the cigarettes, registered on the form, and then placed a QR code on the table, ”You’re here at the right time. Every year during winter and summer vacations there’s a set time for alumni visits. This is the school’s alumni group, you can join it, and ask ahead in the future if you want to visit.”

”Alright, thank you.” Tang Song took out his phone to scan the code and joined the group chat.

Following that, the gate slowly opened.

Tang Song thanked him and stepped into the campus.

The clouds in the sky were fluffy, like cotton piled up carelessly.

First Middle School is a fully enclosed high school, and it just so happens to be vacation time, so the campus was exceptionally quiet.

Only the sounds of cicadas and birds echoed among the red buildings.

Tang Song strolled through the campus along the Shady Path, admiring the grass and trees he once overlooked.

Lab building, playground, cafeteria, student apartment, library...

Looking around, at the familiar yet strange surroundings, a sense of wistful confusion washed over him.

Many places he could not recall the details, not knowing if they changed, everything seemed ambiguous yet familiar.

But certain memories stood out vividly.

Hard work in the classroom, sweating on the playground, lining up at the cafeteria, late-night talks in the dorm...

And of course, her.

She in her school uniform with her hair in a high ponytail;

She waving at him with a kettle;

She sitting together teaching him to solve problems;

She smiling in the hallway...

The heavy ’thump thump’ sound came from the black hard-soled leather shoes stepping on the old stairs.

The familiar second floor of the teaching building, the familiar senior year Class 3.

Standing in the familiar hallway, through the bright windows.

He could see the familiar classroom, familiar desks and chairs, familiar curtains, familiar hanging fans, familiar yet seemingly different bulletin board.

Every place was like a key, unlocking the floodgates of his memory.

Scenes from the past flashed before his eyes.

Each frame was of the youth he couldn’t return to.

Tang Song’s gaze shifted to the third row near the south window.

It was as if she was sitting there, tilting her head and looking at him, her smile blooming like a flower.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the leaves, through the window, touching her hair, her nose bridge, her shoulders, and her long and thick eyelashes.

His gaze then moved to a spot in the second-to-last row.

On the scratch paper there, besides math problems, was that remarkable name and hidden joy in his heart.

”Thump thump—”

Tang Song seemed to sense something and looked up.

A pure white feather floated in the air, emitting a gentle golden glow, stunningly beautiful.

The Memory Feather gently fell, rippling layers of waves in his clear pupils.

Tang Song reached up, trying to grasp it firmly.

”Crash~~”

The torrent of youth came rushing forth.

...

February, 2016, just after winter vacation started.

On the stone path outside the senior teaching building of First Middle School.

The red and white running shoes suddenly stopped.

”What the hell! Why is it here?” Tang Song quickly crouched down.

Nearby classmate Shen Hang turned around in surprise, asking, ”What’s wrong? What is here?”

Tang Song did not answer him, picked up a pink wired earphone from the ground, his eyes full of excitement.

For his birthday last year, he had given Liu Qingning an entry-level Hi-Fi earphone.

To save up enough money, he had scrimped and saved for quite a while.

Before leaving for winter vacation, Liu Qingning suddenly told him the earphone was lost.

Because of this, during the vacation she was very unhappy, and secretly cried several times.

After carefully checking the details and material, Tang Song was sure this was the one he had given.

The small ear set was something he had paid extra for.

Though he didn’t know why it was dropped here, it was undoubtedly a good thing.

Using his school uniform to clean the earphone, Tang Song excitedly shouted, ”Shen Hang, I’m not going to the snack shop, heading back to class, bye.”

He then ran towards the teaching building.

Through the reflection in the glass window, his tall and slender figure and the hair tips jumping in the sunlight could be seen.

The quick footsteps echoed in the hallway.

”Make way! Quickly!” Tang Song pushed aside classmates blocking the door, rushed into the classroom.

His gaze swept the room, finally landing on Liu Qingning, lazily lying on the desk.

Her head was resting on a stack of test papers, her eyes half-closed, basking in the sunlight.

He lightly coughed, his steps gradually slowing, eyebrows and eyes carrying an undeniable excitement.

Gently tapped her shoulder, ”Qingning.”

Liu Qingning opened her eyes and yawned, ”What’s up? What makes you so happy?”

Tang Song looked mysterious and said, ”Do you remember the Hi-Fi earphone you lost earlier?”

Liu Qingning raised an eyebrow and smiled brightly, ”So you already know, did Sun Jiayue tell you?”

”Huh? What do you mean?”

Liu Qingning put her delicate little hand into the desk and took out a pretty pink earphone, ”Look, my earphone was stuck in the gap of the bed in the dormitory. I only discovered it when tidying up this morning. I intended to surprise you by taking it out when we listen to music together tonight.”

Tang Song stared blankly at the earphone in her hand, and then pulled out the identical one he picked up.

”I just picked up one exactly the same downstairs, thought it was the one you lost. This... this is too much of a coincidence!”

”What?” Liu Qingning stared in surprise at the earphone in his hand, ”They really are identical!? Even the aftermarket ear tips are the same!”

Tang Song scratched his head and carefully compared the two earphones.

The world around seemed to slow at this moment, classmates’ hurried footsteps, sounds of laughter from afar, all became insignificant background music.
