Chapter 821: Chapter 361: Dimensionality Reduction Attack from Secretary Jin_3

Jiang Yiran lifted her head, her face covered in tears as she looked at him, seemingly wanting to say something.

Wen Ruan helped her wipe away the tears, frowned, and asked: ”Zerui, what exactly happened? Tell me in detail.”

The situation seemed to be far more serious than she had imagined.

Judging by their current state, they probably fought often about this issue.

Kang Zerui reclined on the sofa, sighed, and said: ”Our company was scammed. We shipped goods worth 8 million US Dollars, and we haven’t recovered a single cent...”

Then, he explained the problems the company faced in the past two months.

With the fluctuations in international trade policies, regulations, and exchange rates, export trade was already difficult, and the revenue of Zeran Electronics began to continuously decline.

In May, the company suddenly received a large order from a company in an African country, requesting to purchase electronic products worth 8 million US Dollars.

This was a great opportunity for them to open up a new market.

The other company provided a Letter of Credit (L/C) as the method of settlement, which was issued by an African bank.

During the initial review of the Letter of Credit, Jiang Yiran found some terms to be rather vague.

But in a rush to secure this big business, they didn’t thoroughly verify the bank’s reputation and the authenticity of the Letter of Credit.

After delivery, when they submitted documents to the bank requesting payment, the bank started refusing to pay on various grounds, clearly trying to make things difficult.

By last month, the other party outright refused to pay.

They also learned from other sources that there was a high probability the African company was colluding with the bank.

This was, in other words, an organized scam.

For Zeran Electronics, the loss of goods payment and transportation costs was an enormous sum, possibly resulting in company bankruptcy.

...

After hearing his description, Wen Ruan’s gaze flickered.

This situation was completely beyond her understanding, involving foreign companies and banks, alongside international political and diplomatic factors.

Even if she shamelessly sought help from Su Yu and Mo Xiangwan, it would probably be useless.

Moreover, it seemed reckless to ask such a significant favor just after meeting them.

It would only make Su Yu look down on her.

”Ruannuan.” Jiang Yiran wiped her tears and whispered: ”I’m sorry, you came to Shanghai, and I originally wanted to spend some time with you, but now it seems impossible.”

She had initially held some hope, but now it seemed that getting the payment for the goods was truly out of the question.

Cross-border lawsuits required tremendous energy and funds, and the chances of success were very low.

The authorities weren’t going to intervene over their 8 million.

The urgent task was to find a way to save the company.

”It’s okay, Yiran, no need for such polite words between us.” Wen Ruan hesitated for a long moment, then patted her head and said: ”Wait a bit, I know a great lawyer at QJ Law Firm, I’ll first ask him if there’s any way to solve this.”

”It’s useless.” Kang Zerui shook his head with a bitter smile and said, ”I found a partner lawyer at a world-renowned law firm.”

Wen Ruan said nothing and directly took out her phone from her bag, found Luo Bin’s number, and dialed it.

In her current circle of connections, the most influential undoubtedly included: Tang Song, Mo Xiangwan, and Luo Bin.

She would first consult Luo Bin to see if there’s any possibility of saving the situation.

If possible, then she’d ask Tang Song.

She actually had blind faith in her boyfriend.

”Beep beep—” The phone rang for a while and finally got connected.

”One moment.” A steady male voice sounded, followed by hurried footsteps.

After a moment, Luo Bin continued, ”I’m sorry, I was in a meeting earlier, what can I do for you, Ms. Wen Ruan?”

”I’m sorry to disturb you, Lawyer Luo. The thing is, a friend of mine who does import-export trade encountered international fraud and would like to consult you.”

”Go ahead!”

Wen Ruan, a bit nervous, clenched her fists, then slowly and clearly described the situation.

”Lawyer Luo, do you think there’s any chance of recovering this payment?”

Luo Bin’s voice remained steady as he said, ”Send me all the related documents of this case to my email, and I’ll give you an accurate response later.”

”Alright, thank you for your effort.”

”It’s my duty, no need to thank me.”

After hanging up the call, Wen Ruan immediately said: ”Zerui, do you have electronic materials on your side? All of them, my lawyer friend needs to take a look first.”

”Yes.” Kang Zerui nodded vigorously and said, ”I’ll send them to you now.”

After sending the documents to Luo Bin’s work email, Wen Ruan held Jiang Yiran’s hand and softly comforted her.

Kang Zerui kept making various phone calls, occasionally stepping into the hallway for a smoke.

...

As it approached noon, Luo Bin’s reply still hadn’t arrived.

”Forget it, Ruannuan, let’s go eat first.” Jiang Yiran’s emotions gradually calmed down as she said softly, ”Thank you, really, if it weren’t for you being here today, I might have really collapsed. I’m glad you are here.”

She and Kang Zerui both came from well-off families and had earned a considerable amount of money over the years.

Even if the company went bankrupt, they wouldn’t be left with nothing.

Wen Ruan pursed her lips, stood up, and said, ”Alright, you’ve been crying for so long, you must be hungry.”

Kang Zerui smiled bitterly, ”You guys go ahead, I really can’t eat. I’m sorry, Wen Ruan, for dragging you into our troubles.”

”It’s okay.”

”Ring-ring-ring—” the urgent ringtone of the phone suddenly rang out.

Wen Ruan’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly picked it up to look.

It was Luo Bin.

She answered the phone, ”Hello, Lawyer Luo, how is it going?”

”No problem, we have arranged everything. Colleagues from the Shanghai branch of QJ Law Firm will contact them later.”

Hearing this, Wen Ruan’s face lit up with a joyful smile.

She gestured to Jiang Yiran and Kang Zerui, putting the phone on speaker.

”Lawyer Luo, my best friend is right here with me, could you explain the execution process?”

Upon hearing Wen Ruan’s words and seeing her expression,

a hopeful gleam burst forth in both of their eyes, their bodies trembling with excitement.

That’s how people are; when there’s a glimmer of hope, they can’t help but want to grasp it.

Jiang Yiran said loudly, ”Lawyer Luo, could you please tell us where we need to cooperate? We will give it our all to cooperate.”

”Rest assured, this matter is not difficult.” A steady and powerful voice came through the receiver, ”We leveraged the international financial network to investigate the issuing bank’s reputation and background and found that they indeed had bad records and illegal practices.

We have already contacted the International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Court and gained their support.

We will then file complaints with the International Bank Regulatory Agency and exert pressure on them from multiple aspects.

...

Meanwhile, we will form a team of lawyers proficient in international trade law and local African laws to assist you throughout the process.

In addition, the government commercial department is aware of this matter and will intervene appropriately.

Rest assured, you will definitely get it back within half a month.”

Listening to Luo Bin’s clear and orderly response over the phone, Jiang Yiran and Kang Zerui were dumbfounded, stammering, unable to utter a word.

This... they thought it was just a general operation procedure and hope.

Why did it feel like everything had already been arranged?

And if what this Lawyer Luo says is true, we can indeed get it back.

But the cost involved might far exceed 5 million US dollars.

Jiang Yiran tightly gripped Wen Ruan’s hand, giving her a look.

Wen Ruan instantly understood and directly asked, ”Lawyer Luo, so... how much do they roughly need to pay?”

Luo Bin on the other end of the line said softly, ”Just the normal lawyer fees, our colleagues in Shanghai will contact them later.”

Jiang Yiran and Kang Zerui exchanged a glance, their faces flushing with excitement.

”Thank you, Lawyer Luo! Thank you so much!”

Luo Bin said in a low voice, ”Ms. Wen Ruan, could we chat privately?”

”Okay.” Wen Ruan quickly picked up the phone, turned off the speaker, and sincerely said, ”Thank you for the trouble.”

She knew why the other party was doing this, so she felt even more embarrassed.

”You’re welcome,” Luo Bin said, ”Actually, it’s hard for just our law firm to achieve this level, considering all the involved parties. It’s not me who’s really making the effort.”

Wen Ruan paused for a moment, surprised, ”Lawyer Luo, do you mean... there’s someone else helping?”

”Yes.” Luo Bin paused for a moment, chuckling softly, ”It’s Chairman Jin of Smile Holding.”

”Jin... Chairman Jin!?” Wen Ruan exclaimed, incredulous, standing there dumbfounded.

What does this mean!?

Are you kidding?

Because of one phone call from me, Luo Bin managed to involve Jin Meixiao?
