Chapter 804: Chapter 357: Suddenly Looking Back

After several deep breaths, Jiang Yourong tried to calm her racing heart and steady herself.

She officially resigned from Smile Investment in May 2017.

As a master’s graduate in computer science, she was one of the six assistants to Chairman Jin at that time.

She was primarily responsible for assisting in strategic planning for internet-related investments and the screening and evaluation of projects.

Since this was a key area for Smile Investment back then, the work was overwhelming and extremely exhausting.

Correspondingly, she had more opportunities to interact with those around Chairman Jin at the time.

For instance, Liu Jiayi, this bold and cool girl from the Northeast, a national martial arts champion.

Of course, the reason she remembered her for so long was also because Liu Jiayi was quite striking.

Not a conventional beauty, but a kind of androgynous beauty that really appealed to the female aesthetic.

She licked her somewhat dry lips and stepped forward.

Liu Jiayi still stood calmly next to the car, hands in pockets, looking at the sign of a small tavern by the street.

Noticing someone approaching, her sharp and keen gaze quickly swept over.

As their eyes met, her face showed no unusual expression, remaining calm and indifferent.

Jiang Yourong’s heart, however, couldn’t stop racing frantically.

More than six years later, she would once again cross paths with these people.

But it seemed the other party had forgotten her as a former colleague.

”Tap tap——” Her footsteps came to a halt.

Jiang Yourong opened her mouth slightly and said softly, ”Jiayi, long time no see, haha, I didn’t expect to see you in Yan City, but you probably don’t remember my name anymore.”

Liu Jiayi took her hands out of her pockets and said calmly, ”Long time no see, Assistant Jiang.”

”Hiss~” Jiang Yourong took a sharp breath, feeling goosebumps rise all over her body.

She... she actually remembers me?

Who would understand this?

Who understands the weight of this ”Assistant Jiang”?

Jiang Yourong took another step forward, looked up at her, eyes glowing as she said, ”Haha, I didn’t expect you to remember me, Jiayi. I’m really a bit flattered.”

”My memory is really good.” Liu Jiayi’s lips curved slightly, ”Besides, you were once Chairman Jin’s assistant. Although there were non-compete and confidentiality agreements, in the years after resignation, you’d still be under close watch to prevent any commercial leaks.”

Jiang Yourong awkwardly said, ”Uh... I see, haha, haha...”

With her silence, the scene became a bit quiet.

Liu Jiayi didn’t speak either, she simply looked at her calmly, naturally exuding an oppressive presence.

During her years driving for Chairman Jin, she had encountered many well-known individuals, even political figures and celebrities.

She had long achieved a tranquil heart.

Jiang Yourong tentatively asked, ”Are you in Quan City for something? I have friends here, do you need any help?”

”No need.”

Jiang Yourong’s mouth twitched, knowing the other wouldn’t tell her more.

”Um... Chairman Jin... she often stayed up working late, working long hours each day, is her health still good?” Jiang Yourong explained, ”You know, I used to work for her as an assistant and spent a lot of time working together.”

Hearing this, Liu Jiayi’s expression gradually became lively, no longer cold.

She nodded lightly and said, ”Chairman Jin is in good health, the group has now entered a stable period, and there is not much work that needs her personal handling.”

”That’s great.” Jiang Yourong pressed her lips together, somewhat moved, ”These years, I’ve often dreamed about the days working at Smile Holding and am very grateful for Chairman Jin’s mentorship.”

Talking about the past, Jiang Yourong became a little sentimental.

She gently took Liu Jiayi’s arm and shared some funny stories from her time at Smile Holding and her impressions of the other assistants.

...

The white Mercedes-Benz C200L slowly drove into the above-ground parking lot.

A man and a woman got out.

Both appeared to be around 25 or 26 years old.

The girl wore a chiffon dress, her makeup was delicate and refined, she had a somewhat traditional beauty about her.

The boy wore an oversized T-shirt with ripped jeans and a baseball cap worn backward, his hair dyed yellow, looking trendy and fashionable.

”Shasha, did Zhang Lei really not tell you which old classmate it is? I only want to know if it’s a guy or girl, hehe.” Zhang Yunpeng casually locked the car door.

Liu Shasha tidied her bangs and said, ”I tell you, Yunpeng, it’s our class belle from junior high in front of you now, which other girl are you thinking of?”

Zhang Yunpeng shrugged with a speechless face, ”Can we not twist facts? If you say it’s Zhang Yan, I acknowledge that.”

”Hehe, if you like her, why don’t you chase her.”

”Heh, that was back in school. I’m a bit of a local influencer now, living a pretty good life, with plenty of girls chasing after me.” Zhang Yunpeng raised his brows proudly, ”Among our junior high classmates, not many are doing better than me.”

Back in school, because he was poor at studying and couldn’t learn, he often used harassment to approach the girls he liked, trying to get their attention, now thinking back it was pretty dumb.

Liu Shasha pushed Zhang Yunpeng, enthusiastically saying, ”Right, weren’t you going to livestream a shop visit? Hurry up and start, I can learn from you, and try if I can become popular later.”

She asked Zhang Lei to wait for her at the ”Snail Tavern” because Zhang Yunpeng had taken an ad to visit and promote the place.

Currently, Zhang Yunpeng is known as a local influencer in Quan City, his nickname is [Yunpeng a bit Handsome], and he has 450,000 followers, many of whom are locals in Quan City.

He often receives shop visit advertisements, earning quite a handsome income.
