Chapter 663: Chapter 320 Steamed Buns, Spicy Strips, Tang Song Chapter 663: Chapter 320 Steamed Buns, Spicy Strips, Tang Song Glimmer Cafe.

After making the last batch of matcha chocolate box cakes, Qian Lele carefully tidied them up and placed them in the display case.

Then she put the baking tools back, cleaned the floor and the countertop, and entered the staff changing room to change into her own clothes.

“Sister Zhao, I’m off work now.” Qian Lele said goodbye politely with a backpack on her shoulders.

Baker Zhao Hongxia took out the freshly baked croissants and turned around with a smile: “Thanks for your hard work, Lele. We’ve made you work overtime again today.”

“It’s okay, I’m on summer break now, so I have more free time. Just let me know if there’s anything I can do, Sister Zhao.”

“Alright, bye-bye.”

“Bye-bye, see you tomorrow.”

After saying goodbye to some other colleagues, Qian Lele walked out of the cafe and headed along the sidewalk towards the teacher dormitory.

Although the weather was still hot, it wasn’t as scorching as before.

This summer no longer felt as unbearable as before.

At least she didn’t have to stand at the door promoting under the scorching sun.

As a boutique business cafe, Glimmer Cafe had a very good working environment.

Cool and comfortable, clean and tidy, she was doing the baking she was interested in, it was truly a joy.

“Ring-ring-ring—” Her phone rang.

Qian Lele took out her phone from her pants pocket, looked at the caller ID, and quickly answered the call, “Hello, Yaoyao.”

A familiar voice came from the earpiece: “Hello, Lele, you should be off work now, right?”

“Mm-mm, just got off work.”

The two chatted briefly about their recent situations.

Yaoyao laughed and said, “Alright, I’ll make it short. It’s my birthday on the 30th of this month, and I’m planning to have a birthday party in the evening. You’re a full-time baker now, it won’t interfere with your work in the evening, right? You must come.”

Upon hearing this, Qian Lele nervously pinched her clothes and said, “Maybe I shouldn’t go. I’ll prepare a gift for you in advance.”

“Hey hey hey, we can’t do that! I celebrated your birthday with you. Lele, we’re good friends, you can’t not come!”

Qian Lele bit her lip and said in a low voice, “Alright, I’ll be there.”

“Okay, it’s settled! I’m about to go on vacation now, I’ll look for you when I get back! Bye-bye~”

“Okay, bye-bye.”

After hanging up the phone, Qian Lele’s mood suddenly sank, feeling a bit uneasy.

When she first entered university, she accidentally bumped into the club recruitment.

The slogan of the Innovative Entrepreneurship Club was to provide social practice work for its members.

While earning extra credits, they could also make some part-time money.

At the time, she was overjoyed and actively applied to join the club.

The club didn’t lie, “Innovative Entrepreneurship Club” had a partnership with the school’s startup incubation base, responsible for running the base’s cafe, bookstore, and printing shop.

After multiple attempts to communicate and apply, she successfully got a part-time job at the cafe due to her outstanding appearance.

Although the salary was low, she could enjoy coffee and snacks for free, saving some living expenses.

It was also there that she learned basic baking and coffee making skills.

Ding Yao was also a member who worked part-time with her, but she was from the Art Academy and came from a very good family.

Her father was a plastic surgeon, and her mother ran a large restaurant.

She came to work here purely to make friends, practice, and relax.

Ding Yao was passionate and outgoing, and could chat with anyone.

It didn’t take long for Qian Lele to become good friends with her.

That period was also the most relaxed and leisurely time of her university life, during which she met some classmates.

However, good times didn’t last long; there were many people in the club, and everyone took turns to work part-time.

Qian Lele’s job didn’t last for long.

Then began the busy life of studying and working part-time.

Last year on her birthday, Ding Yao brought a cake and gifts to Room 213 late at night.

She even called a few other classmates to celebrate and sing the birthday song together.

It was a very precious memory for her.

This year, since Ding Yao specially called to invite her, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her not to go.

The truth was, Qian Lele also wanted to attend, to openly and happily celebrate her birthday.

But she had met some of Ding Yao’s friends before, and they were all wealthy people.

For example, one time when they were singing at a KTV.

They carried branded bags, wore fashionable clothes, held the latest flagship phones, and talked about where to travel on weekends and which trendy restaurant to check out.

At that time, Qian Lele sat in the corner, wearing faded jeans, with no makeup on, holding a bag that cost just over twenty dollars.

She felt awkward, inferior, uncomfortable, and out of place, feeling very out of the ordinary.

From then on.

Whenever Ding Yao invited her, she always declined using part-time work as an excuse.

…

On the way back, the shops on both sides of the commercial street were dazzling, with colorful signs shining brightly.

Qian Lele unconsciously stopped in front of a high-end clothing store.

Through the bright window, she saw the bling-bling clothes inside and the high-end bags placed next to them.

She clasped her hands tightly and silently calculated her expenses.

She thought about her family’s situation and the new computer after summer break.

The soft sunlight poured down on the pedestrian street, covering the ground with a layer of warm, golden light.

It also cast a halo around her, creating a long shadow.

In less than half a minute.

The shadow started to move again.

Blending into the crowd, Qian Lele lowered her head and opened the shopping app.

She scrolled through her shopping cart, hesitating on what to choose.
