Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1954 - 283: The Mistress of Xuan Nü Palace 4

Chu Kuo was thoroughly frustrated by his words, because claims like ”emotions are beyond oneʼs control” are precisely what those who pursue multiple relationships, whether men with multiple women or women with multiple men, often use – and Chu Kuo himself had once used such an excuse.

If one is not even honest with oneself, how can one use such reasons to demand honesty from others?

Chu Kuo suddenly realized that this seemingly naive young master of the Wang family was far from being as easy to deal with as he had thought. Although he was much younger than Zhang Qingtian, compared to him, Zhang Qingtian seemed more like a child.

This made Chu Kuo feel angry, but at the same time, he couldnʼt help but feel a certain degree of admiration for Wang Yue. If given another chance to choose, and without knowing who the Zhang family had behind them, he would definitely choose to give his daughter to Wang Yue.

But now that the engagement between his daughter and Zhang Qingtian had been arranged, it was too late to regret it.

Moreover, Chu Kuo didnʼt really want to regret it. Wang Yue was superior to Zhang Qingtian in every way, but the power of the Zhang family was too great. If they decided to take action, the three major families of Jinling could be destroyed in an instant.

Without the support of these three major families, what good would it do if Wang Yue were excellent?

Having made up his mind to side with the Zhang family, Chu Kuo decided not to be polite any longer and said sternly, ”In short, as Chu Moʼs father, I tell you: from now on, you are not allowed to have any contact with each other!”

”Thatʼs not something I can decide on my own,” Wang Yue replied with a calm smile.

Chu Kuo grew angry and said, ”Wang Yue, donʼt force me to make things worse; otherwise, neither of our families will come out of it well!”

”Fine, then letʼs make it worse,” Wang Yue said nonchalantly. ”After all, Iʼm just a child; at most, people will say I lack good manners.”

Chu Kuoʼs expression froze for a moment. Yes, Wang Yue was only a fifteen-year-old boy. Even if their relationship became strained, at most, he would lose the reputation of lacking good manners. As long as the Wang family stepped in and promised to discipline him properly, that would be it.

But as the head of the Chu family, if he got into such a conflict with a child, it would be a huge disgrace for him, and it would remain a stain on his reputation for the rest of his life.

Chu Kuo stared at Wang Yue for a while, but eventually, his anger turned into a sigh. ”I oppose you not just for the sake of the Chu family, but also for Mo Moʼs sake. If you really like her, stop bothering her so that she wonʼt be affected by you.”

Wang Yue was moved and asked, ”Uncle, what do you mean by that?”

Chu Kuo sighed again and said, ”For Mo Moʼs sake, Iʼll tell you something. The Zhang family has already secretly allied with the forces of Tianhai. It wonʼt be long before they send people here, and their target is your three major families.”

Wang Yue was taken aback and asked, ”Why tell me this?”

”Although Mo Mo and I are father and daughter, she has never been close to me since she was young. She thinks I wronged her mother, but there are reasons behind that,” Chu Kuo explained. ”But after all, she is my first child; how could I not love her? She likes you, and if something happens to you, she will be very unhappy. So, listen to my advice: perhaps if your three major families voluntarily give up their influence in Jinling, there might still be a way out for you.”

Wang Yue was stunned again.

Because of Chu Mo, he had always had a poor impression of Chu Kuo, thinking that he was just like his grandfather, a person who would sacrifice everything for the sake of his family. But he never expected that Chu Kuo could have such a fatherly affection for Chu Mo.

”Since there are reasons behind this, why not tell Mo Mo? That would at least improve your relationship,” Wang Yue suggested.

This time, it was Chu Kuo who was taken aback. He didnʼt expect that after revealing such serious information, Wang Yue would still be concerned about their father-daughter relationship. This made him think a little better of Wang Yue.

”That reason is really hard to speak about,” Chu Kuo said. ”And as a father and the head of the Chu family, I canʼt lower myself to beg my own daughter.”

Well, although he wasnʼt a heartless family head, he was still a stubborn old man with the demeanor of a patriarch.

Wang Yue inwardly chuckled at this, but he felt that Chu Kuo was a bit more endearing now.

”Uncle, do you know which branch of Tianhai is behind the Zhang family?” Wang Yue asked.

Chu Kuo shook his head and said, ”I donʼt know that. But Tianhai has many powerful members. Even if itʼs just a medium-sized force, itʼs beyond the power of the families in Jinling to resist. So, you should go back and discuss this with your grandmother.”

”Uncle Chu, thank you for your warning,” Wang Yue said sincerely. ”As a reward, Iʼll give you a piece of advice: I donʼt expect you to side with the three major families this time, but itʼs also best not to get too close to the Zhang family. Otherwise, when they try to destroy your family, they might accidentally harm the Chu family as well.”

”You… you want to destroy the Zhang family?!” Chu Kuo was shocked.

Wang Yue smiled without saying a word, but it was clear that he wasnʼt joking.

”Thatʼs all for our conversation. Remember, I only told you about Mo Mo; I didnʼt say anything else.” Chu Kuo was in a state of confusion and needed to find a quiet place to calm down.

Although Wang Yueʼs words might not represent the stance of the three major families, what if they did? Before the forces of Tianhai arrived, the Zhang family could not stand against the three major families. Even with the support of the Chu family, it wouldnʼt make a difference.

Without saying goodbye, Chu Kuo left the study in a hurry.

”Wang Yue, what did you two talk about?” Chu Mo asked anxiously.

Wang Yue laughed and said, ”What could we have talked about? Of course, your father tried to persuade me with reason and emotion to leave you.”

”And then?” Chu Mo became even more anxious.

”Then I tried to do the same with him – to persuade him to let me be with you,” Wang Yue said. ”Unfortunately, heʼs very stubborn; no matter how much I talked, I couldnʼt convince him.”

Chu Mo breathed a sigh of relief. ”Thatʼs understandable. As long as you werenʼt convinced by him, thatʼs fine.”

”Of course not. Iʼve said it before: I will never let you down in this life,” Wang Yue said earnestly.

Chu Mo smiled happily.

”Oh, my goosebumps!” Su Xiu joked, ”Please, if you have to show off your ʼdog foodʼ (your affection for each other), do it somewhere a bit farther away, okay?”

Su Jiaojiao sang with a laugh, ”Cold ʼdog foodʼ is slapped all over my face; a bunch of goosebumps appear all over my body…”

However, Xu Yanran wore a satisfied smile on her face. Her daughter, having met a boy who was sincere and loyal to her, made her much happier than being a sacrifice for her family.

Su Jiner suggested, ”Mo has been locked up for so long; now that sheʼs out, how about we go out for a walk to relax?”

”Sure, sure!” At the idea of going out to play, Su Jiaojiao was the first to raise her hand in agreement.

Su Jiner added, ”Aunt Xu, you should come along too.”

Xu Yanran was in a good mood today, and the offer tempted her, but after thinking for a moment, she shook her head and said, ”No, Iʼm just an ordinary person. Going with you might spoil the fun for you.”

Wang Yue immediately replied, ”Thatʼs easy then; weʼll just go to places suitable for ordinary people.”

”Right, letʼs go to the amusement park!” Su Jiaojiao suggested eagerly.

Another amusement park?

Wang Yue was speechless. Chen Feng still had a childlike attitude; it was understandable that he wanted to go to the amusement park.

But Jiaojiao, youʼre only a month younger than me—youʼre already a fifteen-year-old girl. Why do you still think of such places?

To Wang Yueʼs surprise, Su Jiaojiaoʼs suggestion was unanimously approved by everyone except him.

There were four of them, plus Xu Yanran and the Chu Mo mother-daughter pair, making a total of six people.

Their suspended car was too small to accommodate all of them, so they decided to use the seven-seater car belonging to the Chu family.

With Xu Yanran present, they didnʼt start with the more extreme activities right away. First, they took a sightseeing tour of the entire amusement park, then tried some more leisurely group activities.

Eventually, Su Jiaojiao couldnʼt resist and insisted on trying bungee jumping.

The bungee jumping at this place was as high as nearly 300 meters. Even for someone skilled in martial arts, unless they had reached the Tianyuan realm, jumping from such a height would be extremely dangerous.

It was Chu Mo who was the first to agree to try it.

She had been locked in her bedroom for three days and nights. Although she claimed not to be worried, her mood wasnʼt very good, so she wanted to do something exciting to relieve her stress.

Su Jiner and Su Xiu, as Chu Moʼs best friends, naturally wanted to accompany her.

As long as Xu Yanran shook her head and said, ”Go ahead, Iʼll rest below,” Wang Yue also had no interest in participating. He said, ”Yes, you go ahead. Iʼll stay with Aunt Xu, donʼt worry.”

”No need, I wonʼt be in any danger here. You should go with them,” Xu Yanran told Wang Yue with a smile.

”Auntie, give him a chance to impress his future mother-in-law,” Su Xiu said with a laugh, then waved her hand and said, ”Letʼs go!”

The four girls rushed towards the bungee jumping platform, while Wang Yue accompanied Xu Yanran to the other side of the deep-water lake beneath the platform.

Before long, Chu Mo was the first to jump.

Watching her daughter scream in the air, Xu Yanran said to Wang Yue standing beside her, ”Although Mo is no longer a child, she sometimes still acts like one. You need to be more understanding.”

”Auntie, youʼre being too kind. If it comes to acting like a child, Iʼm definitely more like that than Mo. In fact, I think that makes her even cuter,” Wang Yue said with a smile, then changed the subject and asked, ”Do you know? She actually hopes that I will reappear on the day of her wedding to the Zhang family and ʼkidnapʼ her in front of everyone.”

Xu Yanran didnʼt laugh; instead, she sighed softly and said, ”What she wants isnʼt a ʼkidnappingʼ; she wants something dramatic and unforgettable.”

Wang Yue was puzzled and asked, ”What do you mean?”

Xu Yanran explained, ”You are already engaged, so she canʼt become your legally married wife. Because of her feelings for you, she can accept that, but she must still feel some resentment. Thatʼs why she hopes for something unforgettable between you to make up for that.”

Only then did Wang Yue understand that Chu Mo wasnʼt influenced by some old-fashioned idol drama. He felt a pang in his heart and silently decided: If she wants something dramatic, then Iʼll give her that!

After moving on from that topic, Wang Yue asked, ”Auntie, I think Uncle Chu loves Mo very much. Why is their relationship so poor?”

”Does Chu Kuo really love Mo?” Xu Yanran was surprised. ”I hadnʼt noticed that.”

”Really, he said it himself. Itʼs just that to maintain his authority as a father, he never shows it in front of Mo,” Wang Yue explained. ”Uncle Chu also said that he has his reasons. Excuse me for asking, but is there any misunderstanding between you two?”

”There is no misunderstanding, but he indeed has his reasons,” Xu Yanran said, her face turning slightly red. After a pause, she continued, ”But I donʼt know him well, and we donʼt communicate much. Perhaps itʼs because of this that Mo has developed this misunderstanding. And Chu Kuo has never shown her any signs of affection, so over time, their relationship became like this.”

What exactly were these reasons that prevented the couple from talking to Chu Mo?

Wang Yue couldnʼt help but wonder—if perhaps Chu Kuo was unable to fulfill his marital duties?

But that didnʼt make sense. It was said that this Uncle Chu had several lovers and other children as well.
