Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1858 - 0187: The Official Fiancée 5

”Donʼt worry, Mom. Itʼs true that they say itʼs for my sake, but thatʼs just an excuse they came up with. In fact, theyʼve been disapproving of the Zhang family for a long time,” Chu Mo said. ”Moreover, today, Wang Yue and Chen Xi publicly dealt a heavy blow to Zhang Qingtian. Now the truth has finally been revealed.”

At the mention of Wang Yue, Chu Moʼs heart warmed involuntarily.

She had spent almost the entire day with Wang Yue, and the pure yang energy he inadvertently radiated had had a profound effect on her. Now, whenever she thought of him, embarrassing images would involuntarily appear in her mind, making her feel hot.

But just then, Chu Mo suddenly felt a cool breeze emanating from her mother, as if she had taken a cold shower. Her body instantly became alert, and the flames of desire that had risen in her heart were instantly extinguished.

”Mom, does it seem like you have some kind of energy inside you?” Chu Mo asked in surprise.

Xu Yanran, however, seemed unaware and asked in confusion, ”What energy?”

”Just now, I felt a cool energy coming from you. Didnʼt you feel it?” Chu Mo asked.

Xu Yanran frowned and asked in return, ”Mo Mo, did you just get excited?”

”How did you know?” Chu Mo blurted out, her face turning red.

Xu Yanran sighed and said, ”Perhaps itʼs because of the characteristics of my Nine Yin Meridians—they can dispel the desire of anyone who comes into contact with me.”

”Really?” Chu Mo was astonished. ”Then how did you and Dad have me in the first place?”

”With todayʼs advanced technology, itʼs not hard to have a child. It doesnʼt necessarily require a marriage between a man and a woman,” Xu Yanran explained.

Chu Mo suddenly understood why her father had never spent the night at home since she could remember. She had always wondered why, even though her mother couldnʼt practice martial arts and was even more beautiful than the ”Twelve Beauties of Jinling,” and had a much more attractive figure than her fatherʼs other women, her father never seemed close to her mother. Now it seemed the reason was clear.

Thinking about it that way, she couldnʼt really blame her father entirely.

”Since in vitro fertilization is possible, why donʼt you have a son?” Chu Mo asked again.

”What if I had a son, what would happen to Chu Wang?” Xu Yanran said with a laugh, seemingly unbothered by the idea.

Chu Mo fell silent. Chu Wang was her half-brother; his mother was her fatherʼs favorite woman and had long been designated as the next head of the Chu family.

After all, the officially recognized wife of the Chu family is still Xu Yanran. If she were to have a son, he would be the legitimate heir, and then Chu Wang would naturally not be the next young master of the family.

”Mo Mo, donʼt be sad for me. I have you, and thatʼs enough,” Xu Yanran said, smiling and trying to comfort her daughter, who seemed very upset. Then, suddenly, she asked, ”You just mentioned Wang Yue, and you seemed quite emotional. Could it be that he is the person you like?”

Chu Moʼs face immediately turned red. ”Itʼs just… I kind of like him. Heʼs pursuing me right now.”

”Judging by your reaction, itʼs more than just a little bit,” Xu Yanran said with a smile. ”But no matter what, I will support you. Although Wang Yue is a bit younger and already has an engagement, as long as you both truly love each other, status doesnʼt matter.”

”Thank you, Mom,” Chu Mo said gratefully. She was very happy to have her motherʼs support and blessing.

”What are you talking about?” a voice suddenly interrupted the mother-daughter conversation.

Following the voice, a tall man walked in from outside—it was Chu Moʼs father, Chu Kuo.

”Why have you come here?” Xu Yanran asked, her smile disappearing immediately upon seeing him.

Chu Kuo sighed inwardly. He still felt something for Xu Yanran; otherwise, he would not have married a woman who was completely unable to practice any martial arts, even though she was the legitimate daughter of the Xu family, which was not inferior to the Chu family in terms of power.

But Xu Yanranʼs condition of having her ”Nine Yin Meridians Severed” was truly tormenting. To have a wife of such exceptional beauty and figure, yet to be able to only look at her and not touch her—any man would feel frustrated.

So after they got married, Chu Kuo began to have extramarital affairs, and their relationship gradually became colder, to the point where it was irreparable now.

”I came to tell Mo Mo that the wedding date with the Zhang family is approaching. She shouldnʼt go to that gym these days; she should stay at home and get ready properly,” Chu Kuo said directly, getting to the point.

”I will not marry Zhang Qingtian. I already told Mom about it, and now Iʼm telling you too,” Chu Mo said just as directly.

”Nonsense!” Chu Kuo said sternly. ”This was decided by both the Chu and Zhang families. You canʼt just say you wonʼt marry!”

”That was decided by you. I never agreed to it,” Chu Mo said coldly. She had indeed not intended to resist this arranged marriage before, but she had also never given her explicit consent.

”You donʼt have the right to refuse!” Chu Kuo said. ”The family has supported and educated you for over twenty years, helping you become someone special. Now itʼs time for you to contribute to the family.”

”I used to think the same, but someone told me that serving the family doesnʼt necessarily mean sacrificing oneself,” Chu Mo argued.

”Absurd,” Chu Kuo said coldly. ”What else can you do for the Chu family?”

”At least I can ensure that the Chu family doesnʼt perish,” Chu Mo replied.

”What do you mean?” Chu Kuo asked, frowning.

”Thatʼs all I have to say. Believe it or not, I will never marry Zhang Qingtian,” Chu Mo said firmly, without revealing that the three major families were planning to take action against the Zhang family.

She could tell her mother, Xu Yanran, about this, but she would never tell her father, Chu Kuo, because right now, Chu Kuo was practically on the same side as the Zhang family. If she told him, it would be tantamount to telling the Zhang family.

Even if Chu Mo didnʼt say anything, the Zhang family would probably be able to deduce something from Wang Yueʼs actions against Zhang Qingtian. But Chu Mo didnʼt want to help them confirm their suspicions—that was her stance.

Chu Kuo was stunned for a moment before sighing. ”Do you realize that it wonʼt be long before things change in Jinling? By then, the Zhang family will become dominant. If we cancel the marriage now, it will be an insult to them. Will they just let it go?” he asked.

Chu Mo was surprised. ”What do you mean?”

”Iʼm telling you, the Zhang family has already made contact with a powerful force. I donʼt know the details, but I know that this force comes from Tianhai. Within a month at the earliest, or at the latest within half a year, someone from that force will come to help the Zhang family take control of Jinling,” Chu Kuo explained.

”I know you have a good relationship with the two girls from the Su family, so youʼd better warn them in advance so they can prepare. They might need to give up some benefits or even leave Jinling. Otherwise, the three major families might cease to exist.”

Chu Mo didnʼt expect her father to tell her all this. Clearly, he still had some parental feelings for her, so her tone softened. ”Thank you, Dad, for telling me.”
