Chapter 1222: Chapter 1222: The Terrifying Storm 2

Inside the U.S. National Weather Service office.

”God! Look at that! A typhoon! It’s a typhoon!”

The meteorologists, who finally witnessed the scene, were all utterly terrified.

To be honest, they did encounter typhoons during the summer, but this one was different. Not only did it appear unusually early, but it was also heading straight for the U.S. mainland without any detours!

And that wasn’t the scariest part. What truly terrified everyone was that the path of the typhoon led directly to the location of the three aircraft carrier battle groups!

”Alert! Alert!” Everyone in the U.S. National Weather Service was stunned.

After a brief moment of shock, sheer panic set in. ”Quick! Contact higher-ups immediately and get them to order the carrier groups to change course. Hurry!” People scrambled, but it was clear that nature had other plans for the United States.

”My God!” one of the meteorologists, who had been staring at the computer screen, shouted frantically, ”It’s still growing! It’s still growing! This is terrifying! It’s just too terrifying!”

Everyone was drawn to his voice, and when they saw the image on the computer screen, they completely fell apart. ”Have we offended God?!”

...

The storm continued to grow as it moved forward. It wasn’t content with just being a regular typhoon. Under the power of nature, everything seemed so easy.

At this point, the storm’s diameter had exceeded fifteen kilometers, with wind speeds reaching fifty meters per second.

The Category 15 winds brought torrential rain, massive sea surges, and waves that had reached heights of over ten meters, truly tsunami-level.

In the seawater, not only were ordinary fish being lifted into the air, but even sharks and smaller whales were being caught up in the massive storm, lifted hundreds of meters into the sky before being dropped back into the ocean.

This storm had reached disaster level. If it were in a movie, it would be a catastrophic scene straight out of a disaster film, without the need for any computer-generated special effects.

But it was far from over. The storm continued to head toward the United States. Its wind speeds increased even more, and not only that, but the storm’s forward speed toward the U.S. also accelerated.

In just six hours, from a diameter of fifteen kilometers, by evening (local time), it had expanded to forty kilometers and was still growing! On satellite images, nearly a quarter of the Atlantic Ocean was already covered by the storm’s swirling clouds, and it was still expanding!

Super Typhoon! The storm had finally become a super typhoon!

A super typhoon is the strongest level of a tropical cyclone. With wind speeds exceeding 51.0 meters per second, the highest gusts can reach over 300 kilometers per hour. Wherever it goes, it leaves destruction in its wake. This immense energy can directly cause disasters for humans. Such wind strength is rare on land and extremely destructive.

Over the ocean, the storm blocked out the sky, with swirling clouds and fog. The entire sky, over five thousand meters high, was a seamless blend of water and sky, looking like an angry dragon roaring up to the heavens in the Pacific Ocean.

At this point, the waves had already exceeded twenty meters in height, with white froth everywhere. Combined with the night, visibility was extremely low. The storm rolled toward the United States like a plow tearing through the fields!

By now, on the satellite images, the storm’s exact form was no longer visible...

”God!” The people at the U.S. National Weather Service were completely petrified. They had seen storms before, but such a powerful, clearly targeted super typhoon was indeed their first encounter.

”What... what do we do?” Faced with this situation, everyone was at a loss.

Such a terrifying storm had exceeded everyone’s imagination.

”Issue a warning!” The director of the weather service collapsed into his chair. ”The highest level, a black alert!”

...

The storm continued to grow!

A diameter of forty kilometers, still rising non-stop!

It was like a mutated animal from radiation, growing at a speed beyond everyone’s imagination. And not only that, but its target was also more explicit than anyone could have anticipated. It just kept growing as it moved forward, heading straight for the three U.S. carrier battle groups on a military exercise!

Forty kilometers in diameter... sixty kilometers...

Keep growing!

Eighty kilometers... one hundred kilometers...

Unstoppable!

One hundred and twenty kilometers... one hundred and fifty kilometers!

By the end, two hundred kilometers!

Devastating!

...

On the Atlantic Ocean.

A sailor stood on the deck, patting his buddy on the shoulder. ”The sea seems a bit off today, don’t you think? Have you noticed it got dark earlier than usual? And there’s no moon in the sky.”

His buddy replied, ”Yeah, and the waves seem much bigger today. Can’t you smell the heavy moisture in the air?”

”Of course. Something feels off today.” The sailor looked into the distance and soon spotted the problem. ”Hey, look! Sharks! A whole school of them! They seem to be fleeing. God, I’ve never seen so many sharks in my life!”

His buddy looked in the direction he was pointing and soon saw the sea surface filled with sharks frantically swimming away. Judging by the numbers, there had to be tens of thousands!

”What... what’s going on?” The sailor was stunned.

As the saying goes, when something unusual happens, there must be a reason. Animals in nature often have a very clear sense of danger. If they’re fleeing so frantically, could it be that something extremely dangerous has appeared ahead?

Inside the carrier’s island superstructure.

The captain was lounging in his office chair, puffing on a cigar. His task for this military exercise was pretty relaxed—just to show off their new weapons to the world, especially to the Dragon Nation. And since he had full confidence in his country’s weaponry, he was in a very relaxed state of mind.

Unfortunately, this leisurely situation was about to come to an end...

”Captain, it’s... It’s not good!” A navy sailor burst in without even knocking, and as soon as he saw the captain, he shouted frantically, ”Captain, we just received a message from the weather monitoring station. They’ve detected a typhoon ahead! A super typhoon!”

”What? A typhoon?” As the captain of an aircraft carrier, he was all too aware of the sheer power of a typhoon. He immediately shot to his feet and urgently asked, ”Where is the typhoon, and how far is it from us?”

”Five hundred nautical miles,” the soldier replied, sweating profusely.

”Phew, that’s a relief,” the captain exhaled deeply. ”Five hundred nautical miles gives us plenty of time to react. Pass the word down. Calculate the typhoon’s path and avoid it.”
