Chapter 919: The Queen of Business

Ye Fei was startled and quickly reached out to pull Leona to her feet, asking, ”What are you doing?”

Leona gazed at Ye Fei with a dazed look and said, ”Father, I knew you wouldnʼt die. Youʼve been reborn in another way, havenʼt you?”

”Iʼm not your father. Iʼm Ye Fei, the one who killed your father,” Ye Fei replied with a hint of helplessness.

”No, you are my father,” Leona insisted stubbornly. ”My father was the Thunder God, who possessed the purest form of lightning power. Now that power is with you. It must mean youʼve inherited his legacy and heʼs been reborn in you!”

Seeing that the girl had made up her mind and wouldnʼt listen to reason, Ye Fei shrugged and asked, ”Alright, so what do you plan to do?”

A gleam of joy flashed in Leonaʼs eyes as she grabbed Ye Feiʼs hand and said cheerfully, ”Of course, Iʼll stay by my fatherʼs side, just like before.”

”Sure, but you canʼt follow me now. Because of what happened yesterday, Uncle Liu hates you to the core. Find a place to stay for now. Iʼll contact you when I return to my country,” Ye Fei agreed readily, much to Leonaʼs delight.

The ”father and daughter” chatted for a while longer, mostly about the Holy War Organization. According to Leona, after this warning, the organization would likely be more cautious and wouldnʼt easily target ordinary gang members. So Ye Feiʼs Lingyun Society could develop here without too much worry.

However, they couldnʼt let their guard down completely. Besides the Four Gods, the Holy War Organization had a mysterious leader known as the ”Holy King.”

No one knew his combat strength, but Leona guessed that he was probably much stronger than the Four Gods.

As Ye Fei left the small bungalow, a meaningful smile played on his lips. Although Leonaʼs acting was excellent and almost flawless, Ye Fei still noticed many inconsistencies.

The most obvious was the way she looked at him, with a deep affection between a man and a woman.

No matter how well she faked it, or even if it was real, it shouldnʼt have been there because she called him ”father.” When she was with the Thunder God, all she showed was absolute obedience and respect. She wasnʼt the type to have a father complex.

This proved that Leona didnʼt see him as her father just because of the lightning power. Her real goal was obvious—to get close to him and find a chance to avenge her father.

However, Ye Fei had no intention of exposing Leona. Instead, he decided to keep her close.

Because of the Thunder God, Ye Fei couldnʼt bring himself to kill Leona. If he let her go, she might cause more trouble he couldnʼt handle. It was safer to keep her under his watch.

A hidden enemy was far more terrifying than one right under your nose. Ye Fei understood this well. What he didnʼt know was that while Leona was now under his control, somewhere else, a hidden enemy was about to take a strong dislike to him.

In Southeast China, in the best private hospital in Jin Hai City, two men and two women were waiting anxiously outside the emergency room.

Despite their worried expressions, they couldnʼt hide their air of authority.

Especially the woman in her thirties—she was imposing and incredibly elegant, almost too regal to look at.

She was stunningly beautiful, like a fairy descended from heaven, and had a figure that could only be described as perfect. She was the epitome of ”beautiful as a peach blossom, cold as ice.”

The other woman, a bit older, was also beautiful but seemed to pale in comparison when standing next to her.

Anyone who wasnʼt completely out of the loop would recognize the younger woman as Gu Yanping, the head of the Gu family, one of the top business families in Jin Hai City.

Gu Yanping, the dream girl of countless men in Jin Hai City, was still single at the age of thirty-three. It was said that she had a passionate romance during her school days.

But it didnʼt last long. Just as she was about to give herself to the man she loved after graduation, he succumbed to the threats and temptations from the Gu family. He left her with a check for ten million from Old Master Gu.

Since then, Gu Yanping stopped believing in love and poured all her energy into the family business.

With her natural talent, she turned the originally second-rate Gu family into the number one business family in Jin Hai City in just a few years.

Coupled with her breathtaking beauty, she was often compared to Liu Yiru from the Wanghai Liu family and Ye Ningshuang from the Ye family.

They were known as the ”Three Jewels of the Southeast Business World.”

Of course, after more than a decade of cutthroat business competition, Gu Yanping, whose methods were sometimes even more ruthless than menʼs, didnʼt receive all praise.

Her business rivals often cursed her behind her back, calling her names like ”perverted spinster.” Some even tried to find her weaknesses.

But after all that research, they found that Gu Yanping had only one ”weakness”—her half-brother, Gu Zheng. Gu Yanping doted on her younger brother, who was about ten years her junior. Gu Zheng was Gu Yanpingʼs Achillesʼ heel.

Even if someone just scolded him a little, she would fly into a rage.

But today, Gu Yanping received shocking news. Her brother had been beaten unconscious and was being treated in the hospital.

This made her both anxious and furious. She rushed to the private hospital and notified her father, grandfather, and Gu Zhengʼs biological mother, who was also her stepmother.

After a long while, the emergency room light turned green, and a middle-aged doctor with a tired expression walked out.

Gu Yanping quickly stepped forward and asked anxiously, ”Dr. Zhang, how is my brother?”

”Heʼs awake,” Dr. Zhang said. But before Gu Yanping and the others had time to feel relieved, he shook his head.

”However, Young Master Guʼs condition is very poor. Although his life is not in danger, he will likely spend the rest of his life in bed.”

Upon hearing Dr. Zhangʼs words, the two men and Gu Yanping were somewhat composed, but the beautiful woman, whose looks were only slightly less than Gu Yanpingʼs, immediately fell apart.

Her body went limp, and she nearly collapsed to the ground, crying out, ”What on earth happened?”
