Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 817: The Gu Family’s Trouble

”Weʼre at home,” the male landlord answered urgently.

”Someone from our sect has come, and it seems they mean harm to the young mistress. My wife is stalling them for now, but you need to get here fast!”

”Iʼll be right there.” Ye Feiʼs voice was calm as he hung up, but a cold glint flashed in his eyes. He had long held no goodwill toward the sect tied to the Gu sistersʼ mother. He hadnʼt expected them to come looking for trouble first—now they were about to learn exactly how the word ”death” was written.

This was the second time Ye Xuan had seen such an expression on Ye Feiʼs face. The first had been when he helped her eliminate those foreign enemies.

Instantly, she knew something serious was happening.

”Whatʼs wrong?” she asked quickly.

”A friendʼs in trouble. I need to handle it,” Ye Fei replied grimly.

Since Ye Xuan and the women from the film company werenʼt yet acquainted, he kept it vague, trusting sheʼd understand.

Earlier, hearing the name ”Gu Xuehan”—a girlʼs name—Ye Xuan had already guessed the situation.

Now, rather than feeling jealous, she simply said, ”Go ahead. Iʼll take Tang Rou back to headquarters first and deal with her matter tomorrow.”

After speaking, both she and Ye Fei glanced at Wen Rou.

The kind-hearted girl, though eager to retrieve her masterʼs belongings, didnʼt demand Ye Fei take her immediately. Instead, she gave a gentle nod.

With the two women settled, Ye Fei vanished—reappearing instantly at the entrance of the alley where the Gu sisters lived. Wen Rou, witnessing this, was stunned.

Only now did she truly grasp the extent of Ye Feiʼs power—far beyond anything she had ever imagined. Her trust in him deepened; with strength like his, why would he covet her secret techniques?

She wasnʼt the only one shocked. The male landlord nearly jumped out of his skin when Ye Fei materialized beside him.

But recognizing who it was, relief washed over him.

”Mr. Ye! Were you nearby?”

Ye Fei didnʼt bother explaining.

”Close enough,” he muttered, then cut to the chase.

”Where are Gu Xuehan and the others?” Even as he spoke, his senses expanded, instantly locating the sisters—along with several hidden figures nearby: the elite fighters from Lingyun Hui heʼd assigned to protect them. Seeing they hadnʼt acted yet, he relaxed slightly.

Inside, the four Gu sisters sat in their room. Gu Xuehan glared defiantly at a cold-faced middle-aged woman speaking with the female landlord, while the three younger girls clutched each otherʼs hands, fear in their eyes but the same unyielding fire as their sister.

Just making my little darlings this scared means you wonʼt leave here unscathed. Locking onto the woman with his aura, Ye Fei moved like a wisp of smoke, slipping silently into the room.

Though life had improved for the sisters, they remained frugal. The room was still furnished with old belongings, save for a few new small toys. The cramped space meant Ye Feiʼs arrival was immediately noticed.

At the sight of him, joy lit up the sistersʼ faces. Gu Xuehan, being older, maintained her composure, but the three little ones squealed in delight.

”Brother Ye Fei!” They scrambled behind him, peeking out to stick their tongues out at the woman whoʼd frightened them moments ago.

Their once-timid personalities had blossomed since recovering from their injuries—something that warmed Ye Feiʼs heart.

If even the non-martial Gu sisters had spotted Ye Fei, the middle-aged woman—a force the landlords couldnʼt hope to resist—certainly had.

Yet she showed no surprise, only a cold smirk.

”So youʼve finally arrived.”

”Seems you were waiting for me,” Ye Fei replied coolly. Now it was clear—the landlords hadnʼt stalled her; sheʼd let them, biding her time for him.

”Exactly.” The woman lifted her chin arrogantly. ”I wanted to see who dares oppose our Sunflower Sect!”

”Sunflower Sect?” Ye Fei stiffened, staring at her in disbelief.

Her smirk widened. ”So youʼve heard of us. Iʼm impressed.”

”Heard of you?” Ye Fei feigned awe. ”Who hasnʼt heard of your legendary Sunflower Acupressure Strike?”

For a moment, the Gu sistersʼ hearts sank, thinking even Ye Fei couldnʼt defy this sect. They silently vowed to shield him from any fallout—until his mocking tone registered.

Realizing he was toying with the woman, their spirits lifted. The liveliest of them, Gu Xuexin, even giggled aloud.

The woman, however, was the type who lived solely for cultivation, oblivious to pop culture. ”What Sunflower Acupressure Strike?” she demanded, confused.

Ye Fei merely smiled. The female landlord knew the reference but, sharing no love for the woman, stayed silent.

The three little girls, seeing her baffled expression, burst into laughter again—Gu Xuexin the loudest.

Even Gu Xuehanʼs lips twitched with suppressed amusement.

Though the woman didnʼt get the joke, she wasnʼt stupid.

Realizing sheʼd been made a fool of, she snarled, ”You dare mock me?!” Her glare silenced the girlsʼ laughter instantly.

Seeing this, Ye Feiʼs fury burned even hotter.

From their earlier reactions, it was clear the three little girls had complete faith in him.

Yet now, right in front of him, they had been cowed by nothing more than a glare from that woman.

That kind of instinctive fear didnʼt come from nowhere—it meant she had done something to them, something bad enough to leave a shadow on their hearts.

Ignoring the woman for now, Ye Fei turned to the girls, his voice low but firm.

”What did she do to you just now?”

His anger sharpened his gaze, making it colder than usual.

Up until now, the girls had only ever seen warmth and kindness from him, so the sudden intensity startled them.

They shrank back, lips trembling, too afraid to speak.

Ye Fei quickly realized his mistake and softened his expression. ”Donʼt be afraid,” he reassured them gently.

”Brother will make sure she pays for this.” Then, turning to the most spirited of the three, Gu Xuexin, he said, ”Xuexin, you tell me what happened.”

To them, Ye Fei was family—someone they trusted completely.

Unlike the fear that women had instilled in them, his momentary intensity didnʼt leave a mark. As soon as his face relaxed, so did they.

Gu Xuexin pouted, her voice trembling with indignation. ”She scared us… and she hit Sister!”

Though her explanation was brief, Ye Fei understood.

These girls had grown up in the gutters of society, worlds apart from someone like Yun Chuqing, who had been coddled and protected her whole life.

Theyʼd seen darkness before—yet whatever that woman had done had shaken them to the core.

”Scared them,” huh? Ye Fei thought coldly. Then sheʼd better be ready to find out what real fear is.

At that moment, the woman was already dead in his eyes.
