Chapter 814: A Twisted Thought

Wen Rouʼs life could be described as extremely uneventful.

Born at the foot of Changbai Mountain, she was only two years old when her master, the previous guardian of Changbai Mountain, recognized her potential.

Somehow, her master convinced her parents to let her go, and she was taken up the mountain. That was eighteen years ago.

Her master had cared for her until last year, when, after celebrating her 200th birthday, her master passed away, leaving Wen Rou to live alone in the vast, snowy mountains.

Just as she reached this point in her story, Ye Fei interrupted her, asking, ”Donʼt you want to go down the mountain and see your parents?”

”Parents?” Wen Rou repeated the word indifferently, and Ye Fei noticed a flicker of another emotion in her eyes—confusion.

Yes, confusion. It seemed as if she had no real concept of her parents.

However, Ye Fei didnʼt think that was the case. If she truly didnʼt care, his words wouldnʼt have elicited any emotional response from her.

Perhaps deep down, she resented her parents for abandoning her.

Thinking this, Ye Fei felt a mix of helplessness and joy.

It seemed he had found another way to help Wen Rou open up.

”Maybe they had no choice. If you have the time, you should go see them,” Ye Fei seized the opportunity to advise her.

Sure enough, Wen Rouʼs eyes flashed with a complex emotion, though it quickly disappeared. ”Maybe later,” she said indifferently.

Ye Fei knew he couldnʼt push too hard, so he changed the subject. ”This is your first time leaving Changbai Mountain, right?”

”Yes. I didnʼt expect the outside world to be so complicated,” Wen Rou nodded gently and continued her story: After her master passed away, she rarely stayed in the cave anymore. Instead, she lived and trained at the mountainʼs peak.

It wasnʼt until more than ten days after Ye Fei and his mother left that she discovered someone had been there and taken her masterʼs belongings.

Fortunately, Ye Fei had left his name behind.

So, to retrieve her masterʼs possessions, Wen Rou left Changbai Mountain for the first time in nearly twenty years to search for Ye Fei and Liu Yiru.

Having no idea where the two came from and knowing nothing about the outside world, Wen Rou resorted to the simplest method—asking people.

But she never expected there to be so many liars out there. Along the way, she encountered no fewer than twenty men who claimed to be Ye Fei.

Frustrated, she temporarily gave up on finding Ye Fei and focused solely on asking about Liu Yiru.

Even then, she still couldnʼt avoid being deceived.

Hearing this, Ye Fei couldnʼt help but feel a pang of guilt.

Although Wen Rou didnʼt go into detail, he could imagine the kind of trouble a girl as stunningly beautiful and naive as she would attract.

There must have been men who, blinded by lust, ignored her icy demeanor.

Fortunately, she had unparalleled strength in the secular world.

Otherwise, his unintentional actions might have pushed a fairy-like girl into a living hell.

”Iʼm sorry,” Ye Fei said apologetically.

”Itʼs our fault youʼve had to go through so much.”

”Itʼs fine. After all, my place didnʼt look like anyone lived there. Itʼs normal for you to take what seemed like unclaimed items,” Wen Rou said indifferently, showing Ye Fei another side of her personality—kindness and magnanimity.

”So you went all the way from the northeast to Hainan just by asking around?” Ye Xuan chimed in.

Wen Rou nodded again, ”Yes. Along the way, I found more than thirty people named Liu Yiru, but none of them had the aura of the Extreme Ice Technique. So I ended up here.”

Ye Fei was momentarily stunned. He hadnʼt expected there to be so many people with the same name as his mother, and these were just the ones Wen Rou had met.

Who knew how many more there were? This gave Ye Fei a twisted idea: he would search the entire country for all the Liu Yirus.

If any of them were beautiful, he would bring them to his side.

If they werenʼt, heʼd make them change their names—his possessiveness over his mother had reached an extreme level.

Even sharing her name was unacceptable. Liu Yiru could only belong to him, Ye Fei!

Of course, the two women had no idea about Ye Feiʼs twisted thoughts. At Ye Xuanʼs prompting, Wen Rou continued her story: She had traveled to Hainan, where she encountered yet another liar.

The constant deception finally made her angry, and she dealt with the man.

Coincidentally, Xiong Kui witnessed this and told her he was the leader of the local underworld and could help her find Liu Yiru.

Since Xiong Kui didnʼt seem to harbor any ill intentions toward her like other men, Wen Rou believed him. She had been staying with Xiong Kui for almost ten days now.

Wen Rouʼs personality was simple and unassuming, so her story wasnʼt particularly thrilling. She finished her tale quickly, but Ye Fei and Ye Xuan were deeply moved by what they heard.

The hotel where Ye Fei and his group were staying wasnʼt far from Xiong Kuiʼs place. By the time Wen Rou finished her story, they had arrived at the hotel.

After dismissing the driver, Ye Fei took the two women back to his suite and continued chatting with Wen Rou.

Ye Xuan had thought they would pack up and return to Wanghai as soon as they got back, but Ye Fei didnʼt seem to be in a hurry.

Having completely transformed into a siren in front of her lover, she misunderstood Ye Feiʼs intentions, thinking he wanted to win over the Ice Beauty in one fell swoop. So she smiled and said, ”You two keep talking. Iʼll go change.”

Ye Fei hadnʼt stayed behind for that reason Ye Xuan thought. He simply wanted to get to know Wen Rou better so that, when they returned to Wanghai, he could convince his mother and the others to let her stay. So he didnʼt pay much attention to Ye Xuanʼs words.

After she went into the room, he asked Wen Rou, ”You recognized me immediately earlier. Was it because of the Extreme Ice Technique?”

Wen Rou nodded. ”Yes. I sensed the aura of the technique on you. In this world, aside from me, it could only be found in you or Liu Yiru. However, this technique isnʼt suitable for men to practice. So, you should stop practicing it. Fortunately, you donʼt have much Extreme Ice energy in your body yet. Itʼs not too late to give it up.”

Ye Fei found this amusing but didnʼt explain that it was his mother and the others who had passed the technique to him.

The two of them fell into silence because Ye Fei didnʼt know Wen Rou well enough to keep the conversation going.

Wen Rou, however, was used to such quiet moments. She sat there calmly, her beautiful eyes casually scanning the roomʼs decor.

The uniform, mundane setup of the hotel was quite novel to someone who had spent her entire life in the mountains.
