Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 803: The Moment of Rupture

The journey was silent, and the two cars soon arrived at a large estate on the outskirts of the city.

They didnʼt drive in but stopped at the entrance, where the middle-aged man led Ye Fei and his group inside.

At the entrance stood four burly men in black on each side, their waists bulging with what were concealed weapons.

This kind of display would intimidate even a seasoned leader, let alone an ordinary person, but it did not affect Ye Fei and his companions.

At the martial arts conference, Ye Fei had faced off against the greatest masters in the world without batting an eye, so these mere showmen were nothing to him.

Zhang Yide and Baldie were equally confident in their strength, and Ye Xuan, though a woman, had seen her share of grand scenes. With Ye Fei by her side, she feared nothing.

Seeing that the eight specially selected men did not affect Ye Fei and his group, the middle-aged manʼs eyes flickered with a mix of disappointment and wariness.

He subtly signaled to someone in the distance before dutifully leading Ye Fei and his group forward.

After passing through a grove of tall trees, they arrived in front of an equally imposing building. The middle-aged man stopped and said to Ye Fei, ”Boss Ye, our leader, Old Master Hu, and the other bosses are inside. Iʼm of low status, so Iʼll stop here. Please proceed on your own.”

Low status? Ye Fei sneered inwardly. From the manʼs demeanor and actions, it was clear he was at least a core member of their organization.

His claim of being ”low status” was just a way to belittle Ye Fei and his group. However, from his words, Ye Fei gleaned an important piece of information: Old Master Hu was indeed a figurehead now. Otherwise, the man wouldnʼt have mentioned their leader before Old Master Hu. Sometimes, a small habitual action could reveal a lot.

Ye Fei couldnʼt be bothered to engage with such petty tactics. He waved the middle-aged man away like shooing a dog and led Ye Xuan and the others inside, leaving the man grinding his teeth in frustration.

After all, he had claimed to be of low status, so there was no need for Ye Fei to show him any courtesy.

Perhaps there were surveillance devices in the building because as soon as Ye Fei and his group reached the door, it opened from the inside.

Ye Fei looked in and saw a massive hall, clearly designed for gatherings, now arranged like a conference room.

Two long rows of tables were set up, with over a hundred people seated.

At the head of the room was an elderly man with snow-white short hair and a long white beard. Though old, he still carried an air of authority.

This was undoubtedly the legendary Old Master Hu.

Having guessed Old Master Huʼs current predicament, Ye Fei felt no particular animosity toward him, but neither did he have any goodwill.

Still, as someone of a higher generation than even his grandfather, Ye Fei didnʼt want to be disrespectful. He clasped his fists and said loudly, ”Junior Ye Fei greets Old Master Hu!”

”Boss Ye, youʼve got quite the audacity, making everyone wait for you,” a man in his forties sitting beside Old Master Hu spoke up before Hu could respond. His tone was dripping with sarcasm, making it extremely unpleasant to listen to.

Ye Fei focused on the man. Though he hadnʼt met him before, he had already memorized his information.

This was the underground boss of Nanhai, the leader of a gang with a grandiose name: the Tianxia Society.

Though he wasnʼt named Xiong Ba, he shared the surname Xiong and was called Xiong Kui. It was highly likely that he was the mastermind behind this gathering, and his words only confirmed Ye Feiʼs suspicions.

Ye Fei smirked coldly. ”Boss Xiong, if youʼre going to accuse me, at least wait until Iʼve finished paying my respects to Old Master Hu, donʼt you think?”

Xiong Kuiʼs expression froze. He had grown accustomed to disregarding Old Master Hu and hadnʼt even considered this point. In his mind, a young upstart like Ye Fei would be too arrogant to use such a tactic.

Thankfully, everyone present shared a common goal and had no fondness for Ye Fei, so Xiong Kui wasnʼt publicly humiliated.

Regardless, being shut down by Ye Fei weakened Xiong Kuiʼs momentum, and he could no longer maintain his accusatory tone. He turned to Old Master Hu, subtly signaling him with a glance.

Old Master Hu gave an almost imperceptible nod before turning to Ye Fei and saying gravely, ”Boss Ye, care to explain why youʼre the last to arrive, keeping everyone waiting?”

The subtle exchange between Xiong Kui and Old Master Hu didnʼt escape Ye Feiʼs notice. Realizing they were up to something, a cold glint flashed in Ye Feiʼs eyes, and any remaining respect he had for Old Master Hu vanished.

He retorted coldly, ”Then perhaps Old Master Hu can explain why the Lingyun Society only received notice this morning?”

Old Master Hu, though no longer the force he once was, was still a respected elder in the underworld.

Over the years, people have treated him with courtesy for various reasons. He never expected a junior like Ye Fei to not only fail to show proper respect but also dare to question him in return.

Furious, he almost lashed out on the spot.

However, he knew that a young, reckless upstart like Ye Fei could easily escalate things, potentially leaving him in an awkward position. Instead, he turned to Zhang Yide and barked, ”Zhang Yide, is this how youʼve raised your junior?”

Zhang Yide, with far more experience in the underworld than Ye Fei had already seen through Old Master Huʼs diminished status.

Any respect he had for the man vanished instantly. He replied calmly, ”Old Master Hu, youʼre mistaken. Our leader is a man of great talent and vision, someone I deeply admire. The word ʼraisedʼ doesnʼt quite fit here.”

”You…”

Old Master Hu was stunned. Zhang Yide, who had always shown him respect, was now openly defying him.

His face couldnʼt hide his anger, and he slammed the table, shouting, ”This is rebellion! Even Ye Bo wouldnʼt dare speak to me like this! Who do you think you are?”

Ye Bo, the founder of the Lingyun Society, and Ye Feiʼs grandfather had passed away when Ye Fei was still young, so Ye Fei had no personal connection to him. Yet, hearing Old Master Huʼs words filled Ye Fei with rage.

Seeing that the man before him no longer deserved respect, Ye Fei said coldly and mercilessly, ”What my grandfather respected was the fair and selfless elder of the past, not the toothless old dog being kept by Xiong Kui, barking arrogantly here today!”

”You… you…”

Old Master Hu had fought his way up in the underworld since his youth, enduring countless humiliations.

But after following a powerful leader in his thirties, he rose to prominence, and no one had dared speak to him like this in decades. In recent years, though his influence had waned and he was increasingly controlled by the rising Xiong Kui, Xiong had still shown him superficial respect, allowing his ego to inflate.

Being publicly insulted by Ye Fei, and having his true situation exposed, filled him with shock and fury. Aged and frail, he pointed at Ye Fei, stammered two words, then fainted.

The sudden commotion caused an uproar. Xiong Kuiʼs eyes flashed with cold fury, but he managed to suppress it with great effort. He shouted toward the door, ”Someone! Take Old Master Hu away to rest!”

As two burly men carried Old Master Hu out, Ye Fei sighed inwardly. After being publicly humiliated by him today, Old Master Hu had lost all credibility. To Xiong Kui, he was now useless, and his fate was predictable.

Though it was a pitiful end for a once-great figure, Ye Fei felt no regret. As the saying goes, the pitiable often have their flaws.

Having retired from the underworld, Old Master Hu shouldnʼt have meddled in these affairs, especially not in such an unreasonable and biased manner.

”Boss Ye, shall we get down to business now?” Xiong Kui said bluntly after Old Master Hu was taken away. He was a shrewd man.

Though he had initially tried to use Old Master Hu to pressure Ye Fei, after Ye Fei exposed Huʼs true situation, he quickly abandoned the useless old man.

”Speak your piece. The New Year is approaching, and my time is limited,” Ye Fei said, striding forward and sitting down in the seat Old Master Hu had occupied. His gaze swept across the room.

Seeing Ye Feiʼs audacity, the leaders of the various gangs glared at him in anger, not realizing that their intentions in summoning him here had been far from benevolent.
