Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 92. I Want an Opponent Other Than a Bunch of Brats (2)

Professor Brix’s stance was like that of a crouching turtle.

He held his shield in front, crouched his body as much as possible, and held his sword horizontally, angled slightly back, ready for a concise thrust.

He was inwardly welcoming this duel.

‘I’ll show him a thing or two this time.’

He, who had reached the 4-star state, did not like the two swords in Patrick’s hands at all.

What he taught at the Academy was the effective use of a shield.

In fact, during his active service, he had made a name for himself as Jonathan the Iron Wall, using a wide kite shield.

To him, Patrick’s fighting style of wielding a sword in each hand was extremely grating.

‘Twin swords, what a joke. Today, I will show you the true value of shield arts.’

He slowly approached, pressuring Patrick.

His fighting style was that of a typical heavy-armored knight, pressing the enemy with a large shield in front of his sturdy armor.

He was confident he could block any attack, no matter how fierce.

And the sharp counterattack that came after a solid defense was his winning pattern.

He had never been pushed back when fighting a knight of the same state.

Thanks to this, he had made a name for himself in the upper echelons of the Royal Knightly Order during his active service.

‘Come on. Come at me.’

Seeing Jonathan Brix cautiously advancing, Patrick let out a smirk and said.

“Like a turtle….”

“What did you say?”

“You seem confident in your defense…. Very well. Let’s see if you can keep up.”

“Go ahead and try…. Huk!”

A gasp escaped Professor Brix’s mouth.

Patrick’s body in front of him had blurred, and he had lost sight of him.

And a low voice from behind….

“Behind you.”

“Kuk!”

He hastily turned his body and thrust his shield forward.

And at the same time, a powerful blow struck his shield….

Thwaaaack!

A brutal sound, unbelievable for a clash between a wooden sword and a round shield, echoed.

‘Wh-…. What is this….’

Professor Brix was greatly flustered.

He had completely lost sight of Patrick.

If Patrick hadn’t deliberately spoken from behind, his back would have been completely exposed.

This match was as good as decided.

To him, who couldn’t think straight due to a mixture of bewilderment and shame, Patrick spoke.

“Here I come.”

And Patrick’s twin swords flew at him in succession.

“Keuk….”

Thwack! Poow! Craack!

It was just an ordinary wooden sword, not even clad in aura.

But Professor Brix, who was receiving the attacks, could feel it.

The weight of each and every blow was no joke.

His arm was throbbing; if it had been a real sword, no, if it had just been imbued with aura, he would never have been able to block it.

If he allowed even one of these attacks in a real battle, his bones would break, and his internal organs might burst.

A counterattack?

He couldn’t even dream of it.

He moved his shield with more focus than ever before in his life to block Patrick’s attacks.

He felt a sense of crisis, that if he missed even one of the two wooden swords raining down on him, he might die.

Then, he heard Patrick’s low voice.

“You seem confident in your defense….”

“……!”

He was talking?

While he himself was completely preoccupied with blocking this breathtaking series of attacks, Patrick was talking.

While carrying out such a fierce assault, not even a single breath of his was ragged?

Was that even possible?

‘Is he a monster?’

What’s more, although he didn’t know it, Patrick was currently adjusting the speed of his attacks just enough for him to barely block them.

Because….

“I’ve had a bad habit since long ago….”

“Keuk….”

Boom! Bam! Wham!

The force behind Patrick’s attacks grew progressively stronger.

“When I see something my opponent is confident in, I just have to break it.”

“Keeut….”

Kwaaang! Kwaaaang! Kwaaaaaang!

Amidst the ever-strengthening attacks, Professor Brix’s body now sank as if it were being pressed into the ground.

This didn’t feel like blocking a wooden sword; it felt like blocking a battle hammer swung by a burly knight head-on.

And Patrick spoke.

“Shall I teach you something good?”

He couldn’t block this.

No, he would die.

“Ugh…. Uwaaaaaah!”

Unable to hold on any longer, Professor Brix counterattacked as if in a last-ditch effort.

He opened his shield and, in a do-or-die fashion, thrust his sword towards Patrick.

It wasn’t a calculated counterattack, but as his attack shot out with a fierce momentum, Patrick said.

“There is no wall in this world that cannot be breached!”

Simultaneously, Patrick’s twin swords left afterimages, multiplying into dozens.

‘Huk….’

Professor Brix was horrified.

He had never seen an attack so flashy yet so menacing.

Although he was known for his defense, this was….

‘I can’t block it.’

At that moment, dozens of sword strikes, without a single one missing, exploded all over Professor Brix’s body.

P-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-pak!

“Keoheok….”

The attacks were controlled to a degree just short of breaking his bones.

Professor Brix, who had been beaten all over his body, collapsed to the ground with a thud.

And Patrick glanced at the fallen professor, slung one wooden sword over his shoulder, and said.

“Next.”

At that single, calm word, the training ground became as quiet as a tomb.

‘My god, even Professor Brix….’

‘To break through his defense so easily.’

The professors were astonished.

They had expected the student named Patrick Schneider to be quite skilled.

After all, the troubles he had caused so far were not things one could do without skill.

But this….

This was beyond their common sense.

He had far surpassed the upper limit of skill a first-year Academy student could possess.

“……”

“……”

In the training ground, so quiet that even the sound of swallowing could be heard, Patrick beckoned to the professors with his fingers and said.

“Don’t be scared, come on over. I’ll be gentle, okay?”

“……”

“……”

Seeing Professor Brix twitching on the floor, his words held not a shred of credibility.

You often hear the expression, ‘at a loss for words,’ don’t you?

It’s an expression people often use when they witness an unbelievable sight with their own two eyes and are left with nothing to say.

Just like right now.

Thud.

He was the seventh.

Professor Ekanor, a 5-star knight who had risen to the position of assistant vice-captain in the Royal Knightly Order during his active service, collapsed to the ground.

With this, seven Academy professors had been unilaterally beaten and brought down by a first-year student.

Even the spectators were thinking, ‘Does this even make sense?’ as they watched this surreal scene.

At this rate, who was the professor and who was the student?

Did this make any sense?

A position as a Knight Faculty professor wasn’t something you won in a game of poker; most of them were veteran knights who had left a solid track record in the Royal Knightly Order during their active service.

And yet, these individuals couldn’t handle a first-year student who had just entered the Academy this year.

Who in the world could have imagined this?

Even if the world turned upside down, there had to be a limit. How could anyone have imagined this?

If the battle had at least been somewhat plausible, they wouldn’t even say anything.

The seven professors who had fallen to Patrick were all defeated one-sidedly.

Without being able to do a single thing.

Starting with Jonathan Brix the Iron Wall….

Venarix of the Strong Sword.

Titan Knight Jabrix.

Sunaber of the Storm.

All those who had once made a great name for themselves had lost.

“Their titles are all so grand, but their skills can’t keep up.”

The single, indifferent remark from Patrick mercilessly tore into the consciences of the defeated professors.

At this point, they had no choice but to admit it.

That first-year student was stronger than the Academy professors.

And overwhelmingly so.

“My god, if he’s stronger than 5-star knights, just how strong is he?”

“That means he’s at least a 6-star. At the very least.”

“6-star? No matter how you look at it, a 6-star….”

“Didn’t he not even use his aura? If he fought seriously….”

“If he fought seriously, what?”

“Wouldn’t it be… a bit better?”

“Tsk tsk, do you think a fight between two 5-star swordsmen would be decided so easily?”

“…Hmm.”

“Even without using aura, he won almost overwhelmingly, as if he was just toying with them. That’s something that can’t happen unless there’s a difference of at least one state or more.”

“Now that you mention it….”

The spectating gallery watched with their jaws agape.

Currently, the strongest student at the Academy was Princess Isabella.

Since the fourth and fifth-years were out on knightly training, she, the top student of the third year, was practically the strongest among the Academy students.

And Isabella’s state was 3-star.

But that first-year was at least a 6-star….

“Does this make sense? How can he set foot in the state of a 6-star at that age?”

“Whether it makes sense or not, it’s happening in reality, isn’t it?”

“That’s true, but….”

“Ha…. Haha…, calling this genius is an understatement.”

Those who had come to confirm Patrick’s skills all realized it.

This wasn’t just some talent with a famous future or a reasonably useful individual.

A person who might appear once in a generation.

A human whose very existence influences their surroundings and ultimately changes the era.

Usually, when a little time is added to the footsteps of such humans, that becomes a legend.

Right now, they might be the living witnesses watching the first chapter of that legend.

“Next, aren’t you coming over?”

Patrick spoke cockily, tapping his shoulder with his sword, but no one felt that he was being arrogant.

The same words and actions could be received differently depending on the status of the speaker.

Patrick was a master.

To the extent that such behavior was perfectly acceptable.

“W-… Well, next is my….”

“Wait, I will go.”

“No, it’s my turn this time.”

“Since when was there a turn!?”

The professors rushed forward, each wanting to be Patrick’s opponent.

Rather than being angered by his disrespectful attitude, their desire to learn a thing or two from a rare master took precedence.

Seeing this, Patrick grinned and thought.

‘Their fundamentals are in the right place.’

If they had shown reluctance to duel with Patrick out of concern for their dignity as professors, he would have been disappointed.

But the Academy professors were instead rushing to be the next one.

The higher one’s state, the more desperately one needed the teachings of a master.

Because the stronger one became, the fewer people there were who were stronger than oneself.

Moreover, this Kingdom of Atronia was a weak nation with a meager knightly force.

There were bound to be few masters.

But right now.

Right before their eyes was an undeniable master.

What was Patrick’s state?

Where did he obtain such power?

Those were questions for later.

What was important to them was the desperate need to feel the strength of that monster with their own bodies, right now.

“I will go.”

Pushing all the other professors aside, a man wielding a halberd with an abnormally large axe blade stepped forward.

“Professor Baroq.”

“Do you have a problem?”

“No, I don’t have a problem. It’s just….”

Marox Baroq.

A man with the slightly storied moniker of “The Crusher,” who, although a bit inept at teaching students, was a man whose own skills were undeniable.

Among the Academy professors, the only one who could definitively defeat him was probably Professor Leyte.

And he had stepped forward to face Patrick.
