Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 725: Chapter 326: The Secret of Briff Island (Part 3)

Wu Chang didn’t deny the Great Saint Mother’s words; he followed up by saying:

”Your Grace, the Great Saint Mother, you and the Master of the Deep Sea both want to seize Briffer Island. What secrets are hidden on this island that have enthralled you both so?”

The Great Saint Mother knew Wu Chang would certainly ask this; she didn’t directly explain but instead used a space-like ability to take out a complex large-scale alchemy device.

The main body of the device is a bottle with a mystical array inscribed around the neck, capable of absorbing the stray magic energy from the air.

Beneath the bottle’s belly, dozens of hollow copper tubes are arranged equidistantly, with the ends of the tubes connected to a balance covered by a glass dome.

Wu Chang had seen a similar balance in Ebert’s memories, measuring not physical matter but the ”mass” of elements.

The Great Saint Mother said, ”This instrument is called the Elemental Separation Machine; I discovered it in a secret laboratory beneath Jermaine, and it records the secrets of Briffer Island.”

As the device started, the bottle’s mouth flashed with white light. After running for about ten minutes, the device absorbed magic power up to the separation threshold.

Water, fire, earth, wind, light, dark, and other elements separated through the pipes, the different elements falling into the Elemental Balance, showing masses that were exactly equal.

Seeing this, Erin was surprised and exclaimed, ”Absolute Elemental Balance?!”

Wu Chang was also taken aback, then scratched his head and asked, ”What is absolute elemental balance?”

The Great Saint Mother shot him a disdainful look and explained:

”Under normal circumstances, elements in a plane would have a bias, and the elemental ratio in the air varies according to different regions. For example, at the seaside, the water element should be far higher than other elements.”

”In regions without obvious elemental affinity, elements can be irregular or missing. If more than fifteen types of elements exist in the air, and each one separates into equal mass, it can be deemed absolutely balanced, representing the origin point of the plane’s elements, the center of the plane’s existence.”

Wu Chang nodded with a vague understanding, then pursued, ”So what?”

The Great Saint Mother said, ”By controlling the center of a plane’s existence through special means, one can effortlessly command the entire plane. If the mark of faith is branded at the plane’s center, that faith will be recognized by the plane, possessing a legitimacy unmatched by any other religion.”

”Not only can you absorb the unclaimed blind faith power within the plane, but you can also cause all believers to instinctively draw near, reaping faith with half the effort and ten times the result.”

The Great Saint Mother’s words reminded Wu Chang of the extraordinarily fast-growing Tree of Miracles.

The ”nourishment” appearing out of nowhere inside the Tree of Miracles is likely the blind faith power absorbed through the plane’s center.

At this point, the Great Saint Mother sneered and said:

”Precisely because he’s afraid I’d find out, Jermaine built a cathedral yet dared not let the islanders develop faith in me, even carving half-finished faces on all my statues.”

”Moreover, he used some special method to draw in a large amount of water element, outwardly disturbing the island’s absolute elemental balance, making it impossible for anyone but himself to discover this secret.”

”His method of drawing in water elements is incredibly clever, not like something a human could achieve. I couldn’t figure out where he learned this method from, but now it seems he had long been in league with the Master of the Deep Sea.”

Based on the Golden Flying Fish and the spy planted by the Deep Sea Race on Briffer, Wu Chang had already speculated that Count Jermaine and the Deep Sea Race were deeply connected. The Great Saint Mother brought information that solidified this speculation.

The Great Saint Mother saw Wu Chang remain silent, then said:

”I’ve already told you everything I’ve discovered about the secrets of Briffer Island. Time is running out, and we should hurry...”

Wu Chang interrupted the Great Saint Mother, saying:

”Right, we’re running out of time. Your Grace, the Great Saint Mother, you should abide by the divine contract and guide Erin’s practice.”

”Erin, you must learn well from Her Grace the Great Saint Mother. It’s not easy to find a good teacher, especially one with the same divine path and attribute.”

”You’ve recently hit a bottleneck and don’t know how to ascend to the realm of Principal Angels? Tell Her Grace all your difficulties, including those on the application of Divine Power. Her armor looks quite good, ask if you can learn it.”

”With the divine contract in place, she must, she will certainly teach you well.”

The Great Saint Mother: ?

No, in just three hours, the Master of the Deep Sea will arrive; is this really the time for me to guide this puppet’s cultivation?

Coordination? Tactics? Specialized skills, any communication at all?

She looked at Erin, her gaze full of bewilderment. Humans are foolish, but even now that you’ve become a god, you join him in stupidity?

Erin sensed the Great Saint Mother’s gaze and promptly responded:

”I’m ready; we can start anytime.”

Feeling her breath quicken, the Great Saint Mother wasn’t sure if it was due to Erin and Wu Chang or if this puppet’s usage limit was approaching.

She asked helplessly:

”Aren’t we supposed to collaborate against the Master of the Deep Sea? Shouldn’t we plan a strategy in advance?”

Wu Chang waved it off: ”What planning, just charge ahead, Erin’s learning is the priority.”

The Great Saint Mother sighed. Even if she was unwilling, with the divine contract, she couldn’t refuse and could only follow Wu Chang and Erin into the Eternal Light Cathedral to guide Erin’s cultivation.

Three hours passed in the blink of an eye. Observing Erin’s increasingly proficient control of divine power, just a thin veil away from the realm of Principal Angels, the Great Saint Mother was stunned.

When she added clauses to the divine contract, she thought it would be just a few simple instructions to give Erin direction.

Little did she expect those clauses would be rigorously enforced, with their education continuing even when faced with imminent threats.

Every minute of the three hours was spent imparting lessons and answering questions for Erin. If Erin couldn’t learn, she would even have to demonstrate hands-on.

Only then did the Great Saint Mother realize how insidious Wu Chang’s added clauses like ”no refusal to answer, no withholding, no distortion, and no malicious intent” truly were.

This made it impossible for her to hide information or lay traps for Erin.

To consider everything so thoroughly showed that human had likely used this trick to pit others more than a few times.

With only ten minutes left today, the private tutoring session for Erin finally ended.

Not that Wu Chang left break time for the Great Saint Mother, but because the sea’s atmosphere changed.

The weather tonight was pleasant, with no clouds obscuring the sky, allowing an unblocked view of a starry sky.

Just now, the tranquil starry sky started to shift at a subtle yet perceivable pace, and the sea breeze carried a sense of foreboding.

The stars are aligning.
