Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 708: Chapter 321: Now I’m Relieved

It has been a while since Wu Chang left the Peaceful Town Dungeon. Before entering the plane, he and Erin absorbed faith through the Tree of Miracles, which gave him a rough understanding of the events that occurred in the dungeon after he left.

Back then, at the end of the Peaceful Town Dungeon, he took down Jermaine, the Count who wanted to become an artificial deity. After merging the Great Saint Mother along with Erin into the Saint’s Legacy Mask, the islanders freed themselves from the shackles of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Including the addiction to the Golden Flying Fish that Jermaine brought them, the cursed transformation into fishmen, and their stiff and stagnant way of living.

The islanders treated the appearance of the Great Saint Mother in the final battle as Erin’s rebirth under divine favor. They attributed their liberation to Erin’s efforts, transforming their guilt and gratitude into belief, converting the islanders into Erin’s followers.

It was precisely through the islanders’ faith that the Tree of Miracles could connect to the Peaceful Town plane.

In Wu Chang’s memory, Briff Island was almost isolated from the world, especially as the islanders consumed Golden Flying Fish and started to transform into fishmen to plunder, making passing ships approach less frequently.

Even the mail sent to the island was thrown down at the dock from a great distance, and then the sender would turn away immediately.

In such an environment, the purification among the followers should quickly fill with crystallized believers.

Yet when he truly arrived at Briff Town, the reality was quite different from his expectations.

Wu Chang stood at the summit of Sea Bird Mountain where Count’s Manor was located, overlooking Briff Town from a distance.

He could see the town enveloped in a sense of fear, with only a few faint traces of faith in Erin remaining.

The faith was so weak that it was insufficient to stabilize the root system of the Tree of Miracles.

If he delayed a few days before coming, the Peaceful Town Dungeon might have already disconnected from the large Divine Kingdom, completely separating.

The reason behind such an obvious loss of faith was evident; someone, or rather something, was undermining the foundation.

Undermining his plans, apparently looking for trouble.

The situation has changed, exposing prematurely might alert the snake in the grass, so he plans to hide their identities with Erin first, pretending to be outsiders, to see the reason why the Evil God Remains has its eyes set on Briff Island.

Unusual situations must have their cause, the previous inactivity of the Evil God Remains towards the islanders, acting now as it arrives, definitely has a reason.

Surely it’s not because of fearing Jermaine?

Let’s not mention Jermaine failing to become an artificial deity; even if he did, at most he’d be at Powerful Angel Level, at most matching the Sea God.

In front of the Evil God Remains, they would only serve as the atmosphere group, hiding far away.

If the Evil God Remains in the deep sea really fell to fearing Jermaine, then Wu Chang would not be worried.

Wu Chang used Condensing Void into Reality to create a small steamship, let Erin wear the Disguise Mask, and he took the Transformation Pill. Then the two of them rowed the ship around the island, arriving at Briff Port.

Though the Briff islanders freed themselves from Jermaine’s shackles, they were still sensitive to outsiders.

The old sailor guarding the port glanced at the two and asked harshly, ”Who are you?”

Wu Chang replied, ”We are travelers undergoing a world tour, found this island through the sea chart, and wanted to take a look.”

The old sailor frowned, sizing them up—a young man with no signs of sun exposure or rain, and a mysterious figure with a hood and cloak. Such a combination for world tours, a single storm could turn them into food for sea creatures.

”Leave, we don’t welcome outsiders here.”

Wu Chang said, ”We’ve been drifting at sea for four days, our ship’s food and fresh water are depleted, in honor of the Great Saint Mother and the Saintess, let us come ashore for supplies.”

”We promise not to cause trouble, we’ll leave in two or three days at most.”

Upon hearing the word ’Saintess,’ the old sailor’s eyelid twitched, though his face remained stern, his attitude eased a bit, signaling them to dock:

”In honor of the Saintess, you can stay here for one night.”

Wu Chang docked the boat and said, ”Thank you.”

After the two landed, the old sailor led them to a nearby inn from the dock, introducing himself:

”I’m the dock administrator, you can call me Tylen. Where are you from?”

Wu Chang replied in an authentic old Royal City accent:

”We are students of Ogre First University, on a graduation trip.”

Tylen’s eyes showed some excitement hearing they were from Royal City, he whispered:

”How is the Saintess, is she alright?”

Wu Chang glanced at Erin and suddenly grabbed her hand, saying:

”I recently saw the Saintess, she’s doing very well, better than before.”

Tylen relaxed, a hint of relief appeared on his face.

To repay Wu Chang for bringing the good news, Tylen took the two to the inn’s most immaculate room, saying to them before leaving:

”Briff Island seldom interacts with the outside world, we don’t welcome outsiders, especially now. If you find yourself in town for supplies and no one is willing to sell to you, just like before, mention the name of the Saintess.”

”In honor of the Saintess, everyone will provide you with the basic necessities.”

”Also...”

Tylen lowered his voice, speaking to the two:

”If you want to avoid trouble, remember two things: keep your doors and windows tightly shut at night, don’t go outside, and don’t look out. If you hear any commotion, cover your head with a blanket.”

Wu Chang blinked and asked, ”What if I need to go to the bathroom?”

Tylen took out an iron bucket from behind the door, ”Hold it in, or handle it in your room. This will save your lives.”
