Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 453: Chapter 236: Spiritual Ability Activation Surgery

Wu Chang asked suspiciously, ”Mr. Mo Ke, what exactly are you congratulating me on?”

Mo Ke didn’t say it directly, just smiled and said, ”Congratulations on reaching the pinnacle that everyone dreams of, the peak of Hymn Company.”

Having just sent someone to the peak of Hymn Company, Wu Chang didn’t think it was a compliment.

He had some guesses about what Mo Ke was implying, but wasn’t sure, as it was too sudden; Schultz hadn’t informed him in advance.

”Could you elaborate?”

Mo Ke shook his head, ”If the surprise’s secret is revealed ahead of time, it won’t be a surprise anymore. You’ll soon know what I’m talking about.”

Wu Chang wasn’t Batman and didn’t have the leisure to deal with riddles, so since Mo Ke said he would find out soon, he didn’t bother to ask further.

The elevator reached the conference room on the 95th floor. As the elevator doors opened, and when Mo Ke was about to step out, he whispered,

”Manager Sean, the chairman really values you.”

Wu Chang slowly typed a question mark, wondering why this riddler continued to hint.

The emergency meeting held on the 95th floor indicated that the entire management had to attend, not only the main office of Hymn Company but also the management from all its global branches, including level-six Gold Medal Employees in management positions.

The conference room, able to accommodate a thousand people, was almost full at this moment, with massive video wall displays around showing members engaged in video conferencing from other branches.

The management of Hymn Company worldwide amounted to over three thousand people.

If Schultz wanted, with hard power alone, he could easily flatten most medium-sized countries.

This is Hymn Company, a monstrous entity with influence across the world, unbound by any rules.

Except for a few, other employees were temporarily notified to attend the emergency meeting; especially those from other branches. Some had just laid down to enjoy their daily two hours of sleep when they were immediately pulled up to attend a remote meeting.

People were discussing and inquiring about the content of the meeting, but after going around asking, they found nobody seemed to know.

With Schultz’s entrance, everyone quieted down, eyes focused on the man sitting at the forefront in the C-position.

If this were a comic, ninety-nine percent of the employees in the room would have starry eyes at this moment.

Within Hymn Company, few do not idolize Schultz, a person who, within just fifteen years, could transform a second-rate arms company into its current size. Who could resist such a quality idol?

After delivering a brief meeting greeting, Schultz handed over the proceedings to Mo Ke.

Mo Ke addressed the crowd:

”This emergency meeting is to announce three things.”

”The first and most important thing is to announce the candidate for the newly promoted level-nine partner.”

As soon as this sentence was uttered, everyone in the conference hall began to breathe heavily.

A level-nine partner, the dream position of all employees. Every time someone is seen becoming a level-nine partner, it’s as if they’ve witnessed a dream come true and can’t help but imagine if they might be the next person.

After all, employees eligible to attend this meeting have already reached management, and each has confidence in their business capabilities. Given an opportunity, they too could occupy the position of a level-nine partner.

Before Mo Ke announced it, everyone couldn’t help but speculate on the new level-nine partner.

Manager Farrell from the Safety Insurance Department was diligent and hard-working, bringing a regular department to second in performance, undoubtedly the best candidate for promotion to level-nine partner.

Oliver, the High Energy Weapons Department manager, although the growth rate was lower, maintained stable performance, making him well-deserving of the selection.

Manager Hughes from the Spiritual Ability Activation Department, although lacking in some aspects, had seen rapid progress in spiritual ability activation technology in recent years, which is hailed as the future of humanity, making it quite reasonable.

While everyone wondered whose lap the level-nine partner selection would fall into, they heard Mo Ke announce.

”The newly appointed level-nine partner is Sean, manager of the Fully Automated Defense Systems Department.”

The usual round of applause upon announcing a new level-nine partner did not appear; aside from a few company executives starting to clap, most wore bewildered expressions.

Damn, who is this Sean?

Not to mention the management of other branches, even many management members in the headquarters were momentarily at a loss with the name Sean.

Some even asked around, ”Does the Fully Automated Defense Systems Department even have a manager?”

But as those in the know explained, people quickly understood what happened.

Oh, he’s Chairman Schultz’s cousin.

That explains it; having that connection, even writing a doctoral thesis titled ”My Cousin, the Chairman of Hymn” could get you graduated immediately.

Upon hearing this, Wu Chang stood up, bowed to the surroundings as a gesture of acknowledgment, and then, at Mo Ke’s invitation, stepped onto the stage to become the twelfth level-nine partner.

Feeling thousands of gazes from below that seemed to speak volumes, even someone as thick-skinned as Wu Chang found it a bit overwhelming at this moment.

Putting himself in others’ shoes, if he were in the audience, he too would internally curse the nepotistic relationships at play.

When he received Mo Ke’s inexplicable congratulations in the elevator, he had already suspected he might be getting a promotion.

Given his identity and current status, there was nothing else for Mo Ke to congratulate besides becoming a level-nine partner.

But what he didn’t expect was that the stage prepared for him would be so grand, to the point of making it difficult for him to gracefully step down.

Fortunately, he was Wu Chang, possessing 157 points of Will, because if the real Sean had to attend such a ceremony, it wouldn’t be a promotion; it would be group bullying.
