Death… And Me

Chapter 3318: The Test

Kentuckyʼs eyes lit up, quickly speaking before Roan could say otherwise. ”So, do you want to take care of it? No problem, no problem! Iʼll leave you to it. Goodbye!”

*Grab!*

However, Kentucky barely had the chance to turn around before Roanʼs hand grabbed his shoulder. ”Where the hell do you think you are going? I checked with the other idiot, and it was you who brought this tree here. Iʼm going to pass you the methods to take care of her. Besides, she only calmed down due to the environment here in my Herb Garden, which is great for Demon Beasts. Now that she knows she can change forms, and especially because she doesnʼt know better, she will soon start running around again. You better make sure she doesnʼt trample on my herbs.”

Kentucky felt like crying, but he had no other choice. He was the one who wanted a Divine Demon Tree to make a nest, after all. ”Fine... just tell me how I can take care of her. At least I will know what to do when she is in humanoid form.”

”I can tell you how to take care of her as a Divine Demon Tree, as I know how to take care of rare plants,” Roan corrected Kentucky. ”When she is in her human form, Iʼm clueless, so thatʼs up to you.”

Suddenly, the Divine Parasol Tree began to transform again, going back to her little girl form. She was there, naked and puzzled. However, she seemed satisfied, as if her little time back in Tree Form was used to feed herself with the rich nutrients of Roanʼs garden.

Just as she was above to move, Roan glared at Kentucky, who was forced to run after the girl and hold her before she trampled over Roanʼs herbs.

*Wuaaaa!*

Sure enough, she hated being held like that. ”Sigh... and she had just calmed down. Now she is crying again.” Kentucky was helpless.

Roan completely ignored Kentuckyʼs plight and simply passed him his orders. ”I will let go of the fact that you two destroyed some of my herbs when you brought her here. Donʼt misunderstand, though. Make sure she doesnʼt do it again, and that also includes you.”

Right after, he passed to Kentucky everything he had to do while she was in Tree Form through Divine Sense. ”And thatʼs basically it. The best will be if she stays in tree form for a few hours every time. Her humanoid form isnʼt her real self, after all. That will also contribute to the health of my plants, so it is even better.”

”You only want to use her Divine Presence to grow more herbs, donʼt you?” Kentucky asked back.

”Isnʼt that obvious?” Roan didnʼt deny it at all. ”Good luck.” He didnʼt even wait for Kentucky to say anything else, leaving straight away.

Kentucky sighed and sat on the ground just a few meters from where the little girl had rooted herself a moment ago. ”At least she is good at controlling her form. If she had come back to the same size she had outside, Roanʼs garden would be half destroyed by now.”

Hugging the girl, who seemed to calm down a little, he faintly smiled. ”Whatever. Iʼll do what I can. All for the sake of my new nest.”

As Kentucky got used to ʼbeing a fatherʼ of a Demon Tree, the day quickly passed. When night arrived, Rean and Zangeshu came out of the Dimensional Realm once again, already appearing inside the Formations Guild. ”Should be around the time for the daily test to start.” They went to the area the worker had previously mentioned and soon found quite a few more cultivators there. Thatʼs to be expected, or there wouldnʼt be a reason to have a daily test here. Rean complimented the other participants; some were amiable, while others were not so much. Zangeshu didnʼt say a word, ignoring them all.

Rean actually became the center of attention. After all, those taking the test to join the guild usually do it much earlier in their cultivation path. For Rean to only take the test after reaching the Void Tempering Realm was unusual. Well, at least that brought some respect from those around. Void Tempering Realm was still considered a high realm for a place like this.

The time of the test arrived, and three formations masters of the Formations Guild came out. The one leading that group stepped forward, introducing himself. ”Thank you for your interest in joining the Formations Guild. Iʼm Klian, and these are Rower and Iago. We will be giving the test today. Please, follow me.”

Rean, Zangeshu, and the others followed the man into another room on the back, where it was being manipulated by a Spatial Formation, making it several hundreds of times bigger inside.

There were several tables spread in that huge room, giving a lot of space between each one. Other than that, one could see several pieces of equipment usually used to fabricate Runes of various types. Rean couldnʼt help but smile. Back in Lisan, this kind of environment for formations masters was first introduced by himself. Here in the Werdlem Empire, however, using electronic devices was the norm.

Lastly, a single Spatial Ring could be found over each table, right in the center. No doubt they would have the materials available for the test, cheap ones, of course.

”Okay, each of you can select any of the tables,” Klian began to explain. ”They all have the same equipment, and the spatial rings over them have the same materials and quantities. Your test is actually fairly simple. Just build a formation with the material provided. The higher the level, the better. You have twelve hours to finish it. Once the test is over, we will analyze each formation and then present the results. Your degree as a formations master will be first based on this formation, so if you want to start in a higher position within the guild, you better make a formation worth such a position. You can start now.”
