Death… And Me

Chapter 3263: Trust is Earned

Roan gave one final push with his Dark Element and Sky Energy while Reanʼs Light Element supported it. The gap instantly widened a few more tens of centimeters, creating a real passage to the prison behind it.

In the next instant, the Abyssal Beastʼs Main Soul rushed out while it used its power to calm the Spatial Storms around it. Just as it reached the exit, it tried to connect with the outside worldʼs space laws. It did indeed agree to stay in the Celestial Soul Realm for a thousand years. However, it would definitely choose to get itself free if it could.

Sister Orb already expected a much, though. The moment the Soul stepped out, it was already inside the domain of the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. It was instantly caught by Sister Orb, being dragged to the center of the Dimensional Realm in an instant. Regardless of how powerful was the Abyssal Beastʼs Control over space, it had no power in there. A second later, that connection to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm and the outside world was closed.

[And here we have it, a new Soul, ready to pass some time together with us. Arenʼt you happy?]

The two shards of the Abyssal Soul immediately returned to its main body. Yet, the Abyssal Soul didnʼt feel as delighted. ”Well, it is a good thing... Although I would rather get myself free. I can just hope you will keep your part of the deal.”

”Hmph!” Roan appeared inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm as well. ”And why should we keep that promise? You tried to escape as soon as you came out, or do you think we didnʼt notice? And I wonʼt even talk about taking control over that brat outside. Tell me, why should we do our part when you tried to undo yours?”

”I...” The Abyssal Soul had no answer to that. ”I promise to behave?”

Roan and Sister Orb found it funny. It would have to behave regardless of whether it wanted or not now. In the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, it had no other choice.

*Pin!*

Suddenly, the systemʼs voice appeared again.

[Abyssal Main Soul detected within the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. Initiate Innate Ability Extraction?]

The twins knew that the systemʼs quest asked to add the Innate Ability into the Control Orb. That way, they could use it to travel using the Abyssal Paths. That said, they had no reason to refuse.

ʼYes!ʼ They agreed together in an instant.

The next moment, the Control Orb, the same one where Sister Orbʼs sentience lived, shone with the power of Light and Dark Element, Yin and Yang Energies. The Abyssal Soul, clueless of what was happening, was immediately dragged to the Control Orb.

”Wh-What are you doing?!” Aby asked, concerned.

Roan didnʼt answer and just observed coldly. First of all, even he didnʼt know what the system would do, so he couldnʼt answer that question.

The Abyssal Soul then noticed some dark and light energy coming out of its own soul. For some reason, it felt groggy, as if it had suddenly gone drunk. It couldnʼt formulate any thoughts as much as it tried. There was just the sense of dread, nothing more.

Roan watched from the inside while Rean did the same from the outside. Nonetheless, it seemed like a slow process, so they could only wait.

As it happened, Rean also turned his attention to Renata. ”What with the weird face? Do you want to say something? Go ahead, say it.”

Renata, who still remembered the sensation of having her body taken over, couldnʼt help but ask. ”Ju-Just what was that? The moment it appeared, I felt like my entire body would just give itself up.”

Rifindio agreed with her. ”I had the same sensation, although it was several times weaker in my case. All you need to know is that that thing can take control over souls. But, above all, it is several times more effective when it tries to act on souls that had abundant contact with Chaos Energy. In this case, you were like a beacon of light in the middle of darkness.”

Renata took a deep breath. ”And... what did you do with it?”

Rean shrugged. ”What else? We are going to seal it, of course. It is too dangerous to leave here.” Rean didnʼt mention that he intended to use the Chaos Energy it emanated, though. Renata narrowed her eyes. She could tell that they only told her the bare minimum. Still, she had to act in favor of the Supreme Palace. ”You should hand it over to the Supreme Palace. Something like that could actually incur a great reward.”

Rean shook his head, though. ”We have our plans for it.”

”Do you intend to control someone in the Supreme Palace?” Renata didnʼt measure her words and asked bluntly.

”Oh, there is no need to worry about that,” Rean spoke as if that wasnʼt a big deal. ”The same way we donʼt really care much about you, we also donʼt care much about the Supreme Palace.”

”And why should I believe you?” Renata pressed.

”You shouldnʼt,” Kentucky joined. ”But then again, were it not for us, wouldnʼt you have been taken by now? You seem to have a very high position in the Supreme Palace. And yet, we brought you back. If we wanted to use someone to cause trouble in the palace, would we find anyone better than you anytime soon?”

”I...” Renata didnʼt want to admit it, but she made it very clear how important she was. And yet, even though she had lost control over her mind, they did indeed bring her back. Of course, there were many other factors. For example, did they bring her back because they wanted, or was it just a coincidence? She couldnʼt be sure about that. ”I still donʼt trust you.ʼ

”And you are doing the right thing. Trust is earned, and setting your soul free again was just a step towards it.” Rean agreed with her. ”Anyway, we have some uses for that thing. Now, then, letʼs go back. It is time to send you to your friends.”
